Chapter 18: It's Fake

Leonard's POV

Why did I call her here? she must be thinking that.

Well, I couldn't blame her, seeing two drives on my fucking desk might ignite some questions. She'll probably think that I intentionally hurt her friend but we all know that's not what happened.

Last night when she left the bedroom it was Andrew who knocked on the door. He was looking for me.

*flashback to last night after Veronica left Leonard's bedroom*

"You need to come with me" he breathed out holding his chest,

I looked around the hallway to see if he was being chased by someone but nothing came into view, "why the fuck are you panting?" I looked at him and asked

"just come with me" he said before he took my hand and dragged me with him.

We walked past a couple of guests in the main hall until I see him heading for the second floor "why are we going to the second floor? I tightened my wrist, "didn't I tell you it's off-limits for tonight?"

He ignores my question and continues dragging me up the staircase. He stopped in front of my private room and roughly opens the door.

"Wtf?" I looked at him.

He pushed me inside and closed the door "don't say anything" he warned and went up to the third shelf placed on the right side of the room and pulled a black book out.

"Andrew" I eyed him knowing what he was about to do. That book had a listener frequency, it would tape and record every conversation happening inside this villa. Yes, villa,

Btw did I mention the other reason why I arranged today's party?

A few days ago a new piece of information came to light that two employees of King Corporation were involved with Jacob.

They helped him with the drive and planned his escape. I know the Vikings were supporting their grandchild but I had no clue that my fucking employees were in this too.

I needed to find out these two moles and give them something they forgot; fucking death for betraying me. I chose this villa because of its newly updated security system.

It is not only taped with radio frequencies but it is the world's first security garden. Every wall, every pillar, every corner in this villa has a body sensor. With every touch, the sensor quickly gives a detailed inscription about the person, and from that, we can find out those two Mfs.

About 400 hundred interesting results engaged my team for the whole night and from that, I found not only the mole but something I wasn't looking for.

Nicole Jasper, her entire history was in my hands and fuck was I getting heated after every damn page; Yes I was. My recently build obsession for Veronica not only made me protective but it fucking angered me to the extent that a person like her has to go through this alone.

From the very first moment I've seen Veronica, I got this feeling that she is a little like me, hurt and broken. If she hadn't built a boundary between us I would have let it slide but now I have this strong feeling that she needs me.

Just like my dad who completely shunned himself after seeing my mom's real face. He tried his best to be a good dad but sometimes it seemed like his life was not worthy anymore, he smiled in front of me but Ik the walls in his rooms, the pillows in his bed are soaked up with sadness. I wanted my dad to be happy and up until six years ago, he met Grace. She is a wonderful woman who completely changed my dad. I can see him smile more often and unlike other stepmoms, she is a sweetheart just like her name.

I consider her my mother more than my birth fucking mother who doesn't even deserve that title.

The same might be for Veronica; someone she once trusted has broke her trust that now she built a wall around herself that is so concrete, it's nearly impossible to break it. She is afraid of happiness and fuck I want to see her smile.

Her past may be hidden but that doesn't mean I'll give up. One of my biggest flex is my IT team, they can find anything, any piece of information can be tamed to them but the ones that are buried by experts might take some time.

The reason why Veronica faced hypermedia attention was because of Nicole. Not only her past is bruised but what happened two years ago almost ruined her. She is walking on broken glass and it hurts me to see her like that.

I called her today to warn her about Nicole's new plan and more so to divert her attention from all the scandalous things.

Because if one thing I noticed about her is that she feels intimidated by me. Somehow she controls herself but the same attraction can be seen inside her; the longing, the desire, and fucking lust are clearly visible.

I want her to play a game with me so that not only she loses her attention to those witless dramas, but her only attention is me.

I've seen the way her body follows my command and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't aroused, I mean that woman is giving me some really sinful desires that I can no longer hold in.

I feel weak in her presence. I want her to think about me 24/7 and that means making memories that only include me and her.

We both are kinda attracted to each other's body and believe me if it wasn't for Kelly she would already be screaming my name because, for one thing, Ik is that she is holding her desires cause of her.

When she pushed me on the ground not only was I impressed but I was enjoying it. Seeing a bold side of her made me curious. Is she like this around other men too or just me?

No woman was this bold to pin me down and seduce me, it was always me being the top and to be honest I was kinda getting bored of all the sexual nights with them that's why I stop going on dates.

The usual flirting and dancing and the one-night stand just made me lose the desire. I wanted heat, panic, urgency, and fucking hunger to satisfy my sexual need, and fuck Veronica was the answer.

So I'm not only going to divert her attention but also care for my needs as well; hitting two birds with a stone. This is something we both want and I'll fucking make sure that it happens. Because after today's stunt I'm pretty sure my body has forgotten the literal meaning of composure.

So to make it happen I need to use Kelly.

*Back to present*

"how do you know Aiden?" she asked hesitantly

"I don't actually" I started "he came yesterday during the party to return the chip or what you call the drive".

I paused and looked at her expression; there might be a lot of things running inside her mind. Figuring out what happened last night with me and Aiden she wasn't confused or curious or anxious nothing, just relief. She looked relieved like I took some kind of burden off her.

Well, let her stay like that for a few minutes before I tell her the real news.

From what Ik Jacob exchanged the chip with kelly that day but yesterday when Andrew took me to the private room he firstly disabled the listener frequency and then called Aiden.

At first, I didn't know what was happening, who was he? and why did Andrew disable the frequency?

But few minutes into the conversation, Andrew told me everything about the chip and how Veronica was involved. I really should say that woman has the tendency to surprise me in a charming way.

Who thought I would find the reason to spend more time with her after all she has something that is very important to me,

When Andrew handed me the chip I was kinda disappointed that maybe I lost my reason to spend time with Veronica but, that's right a fucking but

As soon I plugged the chip a video of a man in a tiger suit holding an apple and pen appeared on the screen and Idk what it was but the song he was singing was the stupidest thing I've ever seen and heard in my entire life like wtf PAPPPAP means.

Life really has some shit going on with itself that it kinda impacts you too, I literally just now was disappointed about losing a reason to meet Veronica but see Idk if I should continue being disappointed or happy that I still got a reason but one thing was for sure.

I was mad, angry, and fucking vexed.

I slowly closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

Is this some kind of a joke? I snicker, are they playing with me? my grip tightening around the table, they fucking humiliated me with this video, furiously I took the laptop in my hand and threw it across the room.

The laptop flew and touched the wall with a loud bang.

"What the fuck was that?" I glare at them,

Aiden was a little shocked at my outburst but Andrew was calm, it's not the first time he saw me break stuff. I fucking broke my mother's car when I was eight so this was nothing. I like to break stuff when I'm angry and till now Andrew saw me break a vase, a painting, a chair, a mirror, and now a damn laptop.

He knows I don't like jokes, I hate them and I know very clearly that this wasn't something Andrew expected to happen. If the drive that kelly had was fake then where is the real one? I stopped and massaged my temples, okay fine I was a little satisfied that the drive is fake meaning my plan with Veronica is on but I still need to find the real one asap.

"Someone messed with us" Andrew interrupted,

I sharply look at him like fuck yeah I can see that. I need some other details dammit "find out what happened?" I ordered.

I picked the fake drive from the table and throw it to Andrew "search it".

That night, I didn't stay very late at the party. My mood was completely ruined and hell I was burning in rage.

I quickly drove to my place and went straight to the underground gym, tossing my shirt on the ground and changing into a pair of shorts.

I pour some cold water on my face and went inside the ring; one punch, two punch and just like that I was hitting the sandbag nonstop.

The chip was a really big deal to King corporation and I can't believe I lost it. I don't know who has the real one but if I didn't find out sooner something very terrible would happen. At least before I had a lead that the drive is with Kelly but now I've got no clue.

If the chip goes to the wrong person then King corporation is gone. They fucking trusted the safety of that chip with me and now I'm tossing around people after people.

I don't want to hurt someone else because of this chip, I just can't.

After uncountable punches, I lay down on the mat and catch my breath "fuck" I groaned. I removed the straps from my hand and drink some water when I heard a few beeping sounds from my phone.

I climbed over the rope and picked up the phone from the table; three missed calls from Andrew. I quickly dialed back while sipping the water.

In about three rings he picks up the call "Leonard we found something"

After that, all I can remember was Andrew located those two moles and even found some particulars to prove that the real chip is in South Europe. I don't know how it got there but hey we got a lead at least.

Two moles, a chip, and Veronica all will be dealt accordingly.

I ordered him to find Logan and tell him to catch one of the moles and put a tail on the other one. This way we can get both the information and the location of the Viking's main base.

Meanwhile, Andrew needs to prepare a contract that I will be needing for Veronica ( internally smirks)
