Chapter56 Who Bullied My Secretary?
The crowd panicked for a moment, immediately wanting to hide Linnea.
Brock swallowed his reprimand and ordered Linnea, "You go stay in your mother's bedroom for now. He is not someone you should be seen by, and don't try to pull any tricks in front of him."
"That's right, the big shot is arriving soon. Aren't you going to hide quickly?" Vivienne said in a threatening tone. "He is a very demanding person. If he knew his former fiancée was a stripper who betrayed her engagement by having an affair with a repairman... what do you think he'll do to settle the score with you?"
She expected to see a panicked look on Linnea's face.
Linnea just said, "Who knows what's going to happen later?"
What trick did this bitch have now?
Vivienne's caution soared. She immediately called for bodyguards to forcibly escort Linnea upstairs. But it was already too late.
Amidst a cluster of bodyguards, Caius stepped into the main house garden.
Ignoring everything else, Vivienne quickly greeted him. "Caius, thank you so much for taking the time to attend Father's birthday party."
Brock also quickly smiled. "Caius, the guests will be arriving soon, and we'll be serving dinner..."
"It sounded quite loud here just now," Caius suddenly said. "By the way, where is my assistant?"
Assistant?
Vivienne was confused. "I haven't seen any assistant..."
"Caius!"
That voice came from Linnea, who was about to be pushed into the elevator by the bodyguards. Vivienne cursed her for being a nuisance, but figured Caius never cared when common people shouted his name. She walked up to him. "That's just a lunatic..."
"Oh, no."
Caius pointed directly at the commotion. His face was filled with surprise:
"What are you doing—to my assistant?"
Assistant... Linnea?!
Instantly, the entire place fell silent. Everyone was utterly stunned.
Wasn't Linnea a stripper who made money selling her body? How could she be the CEO Assistant of the Thorne Group?
God knows the level of education and personal capability required for that position!
Could Linnea really be a genius with talent in everything, just like her mother?
Everyone couldn't help but shoot a blaming glance at Vivienne. Linnea's whereabouts had always been the main focus of surveillance for Vivienne and Jax. Didn't they say Linnea was a stripper? What was going on now!
Vivienne's face was completely frozen at this moment.
She was shocked not only by Linnea's true identity but also by that harsh word, "assistant."
Assistant... that must be the one who went to the auction with Caius!
Caius quickly walked up to her and pulled her from the floor. "Why is your dress wrinkled? My design team specially tailored this silk gown, famous for its smooth, soft fabric... Linnea, did they bully you?"
While helping her up, he squeezed her waist.
Linnea glared at him.
The pervert!
Seeing their interaction, everyone was more convinced of Linnea's close relationship with the big shot. And Caius clearly didn't know her true background.
Because of this, no one dared to reveal it to Caius. They certainly wouldn't dare tell him about the slander they had directed at Linnea. How could those petty acts of bullying fool Caius?
"So, who bullied my secretary?"
Linnea acted "understanding." "It's fine, just a small misunderstanding..."
"How can it be fine? Bullying my secretary is challenging my authority, isn't it?"
There was complete silence.
But the next second, Caius showed a look of pardon:
"But it's Mr. Brock's birthday today. I can give you a break."
"However... speaking of which, where is the gift I prepared? Linnea, did you give them my gift?"
Linnea was speechless and pointed to the ruined antique watch in the fountain.
The collective sigh of relief was instantly replaced by panic in their throats.
Caius said flatly, "Oh, so the Knight family not only disrespects my assistant but also disrespects my gift."
"I am so sorry. My junior relative was too naughty and bumped into Ms. Linnea." Sweat beaded heavily on Brock's forehead. He shot an angry look at his brother.
The man was stifled but had no choice but to harshly slap the boy on the back of the head, knocking him into the fountain:
"You idiot, go pick it up!"
"Waaah..."
The boy cried hard, but his weak mother pinched his arm fiercely, and he reluctantly salvaged the antique watch. There were fish swimming in the pond, and the boy fell on his bottom several times. Yet no one in the entire Knight family showed any sign of concern for him.
Linnea couldn't help but sigh. What a cold-blooded, heartless family...
Finally, the boy climbed out of the water, offered the antique watch with both hands, and apologized while sobbing.
"You need to learn better manners in the future," Linnea narrowed her eyes and smiled, then pretended to ask Caius with confusion, "Boss, they didn't believe I was your assistant because they thought that antique watch was a fake."
"Is it a fake?" Caius just glanced at it. "That is the gift I prepared."
—So, sending a fake gift to the Knight family was deliberate on Caius's part?
Everyone was completely confused, ultimately concluding that Caius was standing up for his assistant. No one dared to argue.
Vivienne was so angry her teeth ached.
She walked to a corner and fiercely pinched Jax—her twin brother who was always messing things up. "Jax, what did you do? I specifically told you to investigate Linnea's whereabouts! How did you get fake information?"
Jax certainly couldn't stand being questioned. "How could my information be fake?"
"Who knows if you used my detective money to sleep with women!"
"That's impossible!" Jax shouted, his neck stiff. "I have proof, of course!"
He pulled out a photo.
Vivienne snatched it and scanned it, her expression gradually regaining its composure. "Go. Go break the news to Caius. I knew Linnea was just a slut who slept her way into the Thorne Group!"
So, as Caius and Linnea were about to head to the bedroom the Knight family had prepared for them, Jax rushed out:
"Mr. Caius, hold on a minute!"
"Hmm?"
Jax handed him the photo.
As he took it, Caius unexpectedly raised an eyebrow.
In the dimly lit bar, a woman in revealing, sexy clothes was sprawled out in the arms of a group of drunk men—it was Linnea.
"I thought Ms. Linnea looked familiar earlier, until I found this photo..."
The more Jax spoke, the more certain he became. "My buddy gave me that photo. They were conned out of their allowance by the woman in the picture. I heard she's vulgar, promiscuous, and will stop at nothing to get what she wants..."
"How can a person like that be qualified to be the CEO Assistant of the Thorne Group? She must have used backdoor connections to get in!"
Caius's voice showed no discernible emotion:
"Linnea, why don't you take a look? Is this the latest in AI technology?"
Jax continued to yell, "Mr. Caius, you need to seriously consider this matter. Otherwise, having a filthy prostitute work in the Group could accidentally contaminate her elite colleagues!"
A scrutinizing gaze was fixed on Linnea. Caius was all too familiar with her appearance and posture.
The person in the picture was identical to the Linnea he knew.
And Linnea had no way to refute it.
Because the person in the photo really was her.
