Chapter40 Slandering My Wife
“Where are we going?”
“You’ll know when we get there.”
That night, Caius did take her out.
But Linnea never expected the destination to be the yacht party.
Caius led her to the staff lounge.
“Have fun, kitten. I’ll wait for you in the VIP room.”
As Linnea walked in, she was still trying to figure out Caius’s intentions. When she looked up, the employees who used to look at her with either kindness or disdain now regarded her with a hint of awe.
Only Ella shot her an arrogant and venomous glance. Stupid jealousy had clouded her mind. She had been on sick leave for the past few days and didn’t know about the changes at the yacht party. Everyone else had also tacitly kept the truth from her.
Ella rushed over, full of jealousy, and snapped at her:
“Lina, don’t think you can rule the yacht just because Kevin got squeezed out! Ha, you said you were the manager? Then why are you still wearing that ugly, trashy server’s dress?”
Linnea lowered her eyes. The long dress she was wearing was the same color scheme as the server uniform, but the details were much more refined, exuding a subtle luxury. It was a dress from the wardrobe Caius had prepared for her.
Linnea didn’t correct her right away. She walked up to Ella and smirked. “Kevin’s gone. You must be having a rough time, huh?”
“What’s that to you!”
“Nothing, but I’m going to make your future even rougher.”
Ella’s heart hammered, but she forced a composed look. She started walking toward the VIP rooms. Linnea followed. Ella just assumed they were serving guests in the same room, and a sense of competition welled up in her heart.
The guests in the VIP room were also unusually cooperative today, agreeing to buy her wine easily. Some were even chatting happily with her. Ella couldn’t help but start planning on finding her next sugar daddy.
Except for the handsome man in the very center. He was undoubtedly the most powerful person there.
Ella’s smile was stiff. She glanced at Linnea, who was pouring wine nearby. That bitch was right next to the important guy? She couldn’t possibly think she could hook up with a man like that, one even she didn’t dare dream of, just because of her looks!
Just then, Linnea fumbled and spilled a drop of wine on the man.
Ella immediately yelled, “Lina, you clumsy idiot! How could you be so careless! Look what you’ve done to our distinguished guest!”
The man let out a sound of displeasure.
Linnea shrank back. “I’m so sorry…”
“Sorry?” Everyone was looking at her. Ella thought they wanted her, the esteemed wine saleswoman, to punish this lowly server. She unconsciously puffed out her chest. “Lina, what good is just saying sorry? Get down on your knees and clean the gentleman’s pant leg!”
Linnea stammered, looking completely stunned. The man glanced at her.
“Oh, sir, I apologize on behalf of this stupid server.” Ella automatically interpreted that look as “admiration.” She walked over, ready to push Linnea to the floor. “Lina, are you deaf? Go beg the gentleman for forgiveness…”
But her hand was suddenly seized and flung away.
Ella was stunned. She fell messily to the floor, still wondering what she had done to offend this important man!
Then she heard Linnea say in a soft voice, “Honey, it was her. She said my dress was ugly like a rag.”
Ella looked up in disbelief. She saw that damn bitch was clinging to the man!
“Oh?”
The man put his arm around her, looked up, and his hawk-like eyes locked onto Ella.
“Was it you who slandered my wife?”
…Wife?!
Ella froze. The people around her immediately crowded in:
“I thought you were Ms. Lina’s friend. Turns out you’re an ungrateful slut!”
“Where’s the manager? The supervisor? I want to cancel the wine I bought immediately!”
“This is terrible luck. Get her out of the room right now!”
If she was ostracized by all the guests in this room, how could she keep working at the yacht party!
Ella scrambled toward Linnea, grabbing her skirt. “Lina, Kevin did all that stuff before. It had nothing to do with me. Please let me go…”
But the man disgustedly kicked her hand away and stood up, holding Linnea.
Linnea gave her a look that was both innocent and malicious. “No way.”
“It’s okay, Ella. If you can’t be a wine saleswoman, you can still be a server, or a cleaner… Oh, Ella, you’re crying already? Your tough times are still ahead of you. You might want to save some tears now.”
There was no one on the deck. Caius held her close as they felt the sea breeze by the railing.
“So you brought me here today… just so I could teach her a lesson?”
Caius sneered. “No more nasty speculation about me, thinking I wanted to sell you?”
“You could have just gotten rid of her directly,” Linnea said thoughtfully. “That way, you wouldn’t have wasted an entire evening.”
“Wasted?” Caius lowered his head and rubbed her nose. “My task tonight was to make my wronged kitten happy. To let her get her revenge personally, and completely let off steam.”
He slipped a form into her arms.
Linnea looked at it. It was her wine sales performance sheet. A long list of names of different clients.
“Your salary has been fully deposited into your account,” Caius informed her. “Are you still worried about your work results going to waste now?”
Linnea hadn’t expected him to remember that.
Surprised, she said,
“Caius, the people at the yacht party are so generous. I only filled in for the wine sales for two days, and I had a lot of people praise me highly and even hand me their business cards, inviting me to be an event planner for their private parties…”
Caius suddenly slammed her against the railing.
“Linnea, are you trying to make me jealous?”
His fingers rubbed against her through the slightly rough fabric of her skirt.
Linnea was pressed intimately against him. Her nostrils were filled with the salty sea air, and behind her was the deep ocean.
She was reminded of that dangerous and indecent night they shared five years ago…
“Frowning again?” Caius was displeased. He gripped her waist and pushed her down, so close to the point of both of them falling into the sea. “Linnea, you’re not focusing. Let me help you get your focus back.”
It was an incredibly stimulating moment.
She was disgracefully slick and wet down below.
“Getting excited already? You really are a wild little thing,” he said with a teasing smile.
“I suppose I’ll have to show you right here that I’m not as dull as you think.”
