Chapter29 Sending Amy to Prison
For no apparent reason, Amy successfully returned to the Thorne Group.
And she hadn't seen Linnea for days.
Amy was full of questions until one of Caius's subordinates secretly called her into his office.
"Mr. Caius, you asked for me...?"
Compared to Amy's nervousness, Caius was very calm. He even gave Amy a look of appreciation. "I need to thank you, Amy."
Amy was startled, flattered. "It's all my duty..."
"Not at all. Thank goodness you spread Linnea's true identity, saving me from being deceived by that woman."
Amy's face froze for a second: How did Caius know she was the one who spread the rumors about Linnea?!
She was suspicious, but Caius's attitude didn't seem to be one of condemnation. His palm briefly touched the back of her hand.
—Caius never intentionally touched anyone and never allowed anyone to touch him freely!
Amy's heart settled.
That scorching touch quickly withdrew, and a room key card landed beside her hand.
"As a reward, I'll give you an assignment. You and Linnea don't get along, do you? I'll give you a chance to take revenge on her."
---
Amy boarded the yacht again.
But this time, she walked in openly.
As a person sent by the Thorne Group, she was greeted with immense enthusiasm by the yacht staff. She walked with her back perfectly straight, acting arrogant and ignoring all attempts at flattery and conversation.
She was now a person Caius "appreciated," so her worth had skyrocketed. She wouldn't bother with these ants!
She walked all the way to an empty VIP room, her luxurious high heels clicking, and came upon Linnea kneeling in the corner, wiping the floor.
"Well, well, well, isn't this our popular assistant? What, reduced to a cleaning maid now?"
Linnea was wearing a torn cleaning dress, her face smudged with dirt. Hearing this, she looked up in a panic. "Amy? Are—are you looking for me? I've already left the Thorne Group..."
But even her poor appearance couldn't hide her stunning beauty and the perfect figure that made all women jealous...
Amy was furious, but a mocking smile crossed her face. "You should be thankful you're still a little bit useful to Mr. Caius!"
"Caius?" Linnea's eyes widened in surprise. "He forgave me..."
Amy threw the room key card at her face:
"Forgave? Hmph, it's penance!"
"Go on, go and please that old man, help Caius land this deal. If Caius is happy, he might spare your life!"
Linnea's expression froze.
Then, she frantically clutched Amy's skirt hem. "Please let me talk to Caius, okay? I want to tell him it's all a misunderstanding..."
Talk?
Amy wouldn't agree, of course. Her phone held her chat logs with Jax. Who knew if Linnea would check her messages?
She shoved her phone deeper into her pocket and sneered. "Linnea, didn't you think about how I would get my revenge after you pushed me into the sea that day?"
"That... that was because you kept setting me up!"
Linnea seemed on the verge of a breakdown.
Her eyes gradually turned red as she screamed at Amy with all her might. "How dare you deny it? You almost got me into a car crash, and you almost got me crushed by a billboard!"
In the corner, a faint red light faithfully recorded everything.
Amy was too triumphant to maintain her composure. She openly admitted, "Yes, I did all of that, so what? Do you have proof? Mr. Caius already turned off the surveillance cameras in this VIP room. No one would care even if you were gang-raped to death here!"
"Amy, your phone seems to be ringing."
Amy paused. She impatiently took out her phone, saw Caius's call, and had to answer. "Mr. Caius..."
"Give the phone to Linnea. I need to warn her one last thing, to stop having delusions about me!"
"Caius!" Linnea burst out crying. "Please, listen to my explanation, please!"
Amy felt a commotion. Her mind was a mess, and Linnea snatched the phone away.
The next second, she was kicked to the ground. A group of police officers rushed out from the shadows, surrounding her tightly.
Linnea stood over her, retrieving her chat logs with Jax—
Including Jax flirting with her, Jax sending her into the Thorne Group as a mole, and evidence of Jax assisting her in framing Linnea several times...
"Case closed. Amy, you are under arrest for attempted murder!"
Amy's face, after a brief period of shock, turned pale inch by inch.
Linnea, holding her phone, was already dialing Caius.
Amy watched Linnea rub the thin key card and murmur to the person on the other end of the line, "That's your room number, right? You want me to come over so early? You really don't know the meaning of restraint..."
Amy finally realized everything.
This was a trap Linnea had set for her, and she had stupidly fallen into it!
But it was too late to say anything, and not even Jax could save her now!
Finally, she could only watch Linnea's retreating figure, tearfully heading down the road of no return to prison.
---
As for Jax, he wasn't sent to prison by Caius, but Caius personally had a subordinate deliver an empty shell casing, stained with dried blood—
[Next time, it won't just be a broken leg.]
Vivienne gripped the note, finally realizing that idiot Jax had caused such a mess without her knowledge!
"You've gotten brave, haven't you? You dared to try and kill someone close to Caius!"
"You are a hopeless idiot!"
Jax, with one leg already crippled, had his other good leg beaten black and blue by Vivienne.
"Now look! Why didn't you tell me sooner? Now Caius has seriously warned the entire Knight family that if anyone else dares to touch his assistant, he won't hesitate to make us regret it!"
The Knight family had enraged Caius. No one dared to actively cross Caius's line and investigate a mysterious secretary whose identity was unknown!
The more Vivienne thought about it, the angrier she became.
Another whip cracked across Jax's body, drawing a miserable scream.
---
Meanwhile, after returning to the beach apartment, Linnea felt a surge of awkwardness.
With the Amy situation resolved, she seemed to have no reason to stay with Caius any longer.
So, she simply said goodbye to the housekeeper, packed her bags, and planned to return to her own apartment. But when she opened the car door to get in, she saw Caius's familiar face. Caius was in the driver's seat? This must be an important guest's car then.
"Did I get into the wrong car? I'm sorry."
"You didn't." Caius said. "I parked this car here just to catch my runaway cat."
"...I thought you wanted me to leave."
Caius smiled, shook his head, and started the car, driving in the opposite direction of her apartment.
"Where are you taking me?"
"Would you be scared if I didn't tell you?"
She answered honestly, "Yes," and started contemplating how to jump out of the car.
"Seriously scared?" Caius quirked his lips and asked her, "Do you still dare to come with me?"
Linnea almost thought he was going to be angry.
She looked up and met a pair of smiling, emerald green eyes.
