Chapter 198 Wedding Dress

Chapter 198 Wedding Dress

Finally, Waverly walked over with the test results, her expression noticeably more relaxed than before.

Michael and Emily both held their breath, eyes locked on her.

"Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Wilson, try not to worry too much,"  Waverly said calmly, adjusting her glasses.

"The test results show the fetal heartbeat is normal right now, development looks good, and all the indicators are where they should be. No abnormalities."

Hearing this, Michael and Emily both exhaled in relief, as if a thousand-pound weight had been lifted from their shoulders. Michael's legs nearly gave out beneath him.

Emily's eyes welled up with tears—tears of relief at having dodged a bullet.

"However," Waverly's tone shifted, becoming more serious, "Mrs. Wilson, you're only sixteen weeks along, and your placenta is sitting a bit low. That's already something we need to keep a close eye on.

Today's scare, combined with all that emotional stress, while things have stabilized for now, you're going to need complete bed rest for the remainder of this pregnancy. Ideally, you should stay in bed for a while to help things along. We can't afford another close call like this."

Waverly paused before continuing, "I'm going to prescribe some medications to help stabilize the pregnancy—both oral and topical—and you need to take them exactly on schedule. Also, keeping calm and in good spirits is crucial for the baby's stability.

You'll need to come in for check-ups every week, and if you feel anything off—even the slightest twinge or something that just doesn't feel right—get to the hospital immediately. Don't wait."

Though the crisis had passed, Michael and Emily were still badly shaken.

"Doctor, we understand. We'll follow your instructions to the letter."

Emily stroked her belly and nodded emphatically, her eyes filled with both lingering fear and fierce determination.

For the baby's sake, she'd be twice as careful. Nothing was more important than keeping her baby safe and healthy.

After they got home from the hospital, Michael took  "complete rest" to a whole new level.

Every floor in the villa was covered with thicker, plusher carpets to prevent Emily from slipping.

Every piece of furniture with sharp edges was wrapped in thick padding, and handrails went up along the stairs to help Emily navigate them safely.

He drastically cut back his work hours, handling nearly all business from home. Even for meetings that absolutely required his presence, he'd rush in and out, never staying longer than necessary.

He personally dove into pregnancy care research, consulted doctors about precautions for high-risk pregnancies, and personally oversaw Emily's three meals a day, making sure everything was nutritionally balanced, light, and easy to digest.

He even learned professional prenatal massage techniques, massaging Emily's legs and lower back every night before bed to ease her pregnancy discomfort.

Watching him fuss over her so carefully, Emily's heart swelled with warmth—and guilt.

One evening, after Michael finished her massage and sat on the edge of the bed peeling an apple for her, she gently took his hand.

"Michael, I'm so sorry for scaring you again... This is all my fault. If I'd just listened to you and let the bodyguard come along, none of this would've happened."

Michael set down the paring knife, leaned down, and brushed a gentle kiss across her lips, his eyes tender but firm.

"Hey, don't talk like that. How is any of this your fault? If anyone's to blame, it's me—I should've done a better job protecting you. You and the baby being safe and healthy—that's all I care about.

Right now, taking care of you both is the most important thing I've got going. Nothing else even comes close."

He picked up the peeled apple, cut it into small pieces, speared one with a toothpick, and held it to her lips. "Here, eat up. Get some vitamins in you. The doctor said more fruit is good for the baby."

Emily opened her mouth and took the apple, its sweet flavor spreading across her tongue as warmth filled her heart.

Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing the bedroom in a soft, peaceful glow.

Leaning against the headboard, feeling the baby's occasional gentle flutter, watching Michael carefully prepare fruit beside her, she felt overwhelmed with happiness and peace.

The road ahead might still bring storms, might still bring people who wished them harm, but as long as they stood together, protecting this little family and the baby growing inside her, she had nothing to fear.

Because she knew Michael would always be right there beside her, shielding her from whatever came their way, being her rock.

And she'd work on becoming stronger, too, so that together with Michael, they could welcome their baby and step into their happy future.

Emily rested at home for a full month until, during a checkup, Waverly smiled and confirmed the baby was stable with all indicators looking great. Michael only relaxed a little, but he still didn’t dare to let his guard down completely.

On a beautiful weekend afternoon, Michael mysteriously announced he was taking Emily somewhere.

The car eventually pulled up in front of a high-end bridal boutique tucked beneath a canopy of plane trees.

In the window display, pristine white wedding gowns shimmered under soft lighting, almost glowing.

"Wait... this is..."

Emily looked at Michael in surprise.

Michael took her hand, his eyes warm, a slight smile playing at his lips.

"It's time we started planning our wedding, Mrs. Wilson. I can't let you walk down the aisle in a wedding dress while you're still heavily pregnant—though you'd be gorgeous either way. But I want to give you the perfect wedding while you're still comfortable.

Today, we're trying on wedding dresses."

Since their marriage, he'd certainly become more talkative—like he'd turned into a completely different person.

Emily couldn't help but laugh and nodded eagerly.

The boutique's interior was elegant and hushed, the air carrying a delicate floral scent.

Staff members were already waiting, and soon they wheeled out a carefully protected gown.

When the dress was fully revealed before her, Emily's breath caught.

It was an absolutely stunning cathedral train gown, hand-embroidered with intricate climbing vines and rose patterns.

Every petal, every leaf looked almost alive, accented with tiny diamonds that caught the light and threw off soft, brilliant sparkles.

The enormous skirt bloomed like a white rose in full glory.

With the staff's help, Emily slipped into the dress that seemed made just for her.

When she slowly emerged from the fitting room and stood before the full-length mirror, the entire room seemed to go still.

In the mirror, her hair was swept up by the stylist, showing off her graceful neck and delicate collarbones.

Her cheeks had a healthy glow, her eyes clear and bright, her whole being seeming to radiate something almost sacred—she was breathtaking.

Michael stood behind her, watching her reflection, completely transfixed.

His dark eyes flooded with undisguised wonder, adoration, and something almost like reverence.

He slowly stepped forward, gently wrapping his arms around her from behind, his hands settling on her slightly rounded waist and belly, his chin coming to rest on her shoulder.

His voice came out low and rough: "Emily... you're so beautiful."

He paused, his gaze finding hers in the mirror, filled with emotion as deep as the night sky.

"Meeting you is the best thing that's ever happened to me. The luckiest."

Emily felt the warmth of his embrace, looking at their reflection intertwined in the mirror, her eyes filling with happy tears.

She gently placed her hand over his, where it rested on her waist, her voice soft but absolutely certain: "Michael, same here."
