Chapter 15 15
Sheila's POV
“Put me down!” I protested but Cameron wasn't listening, he told Delilah to clear the mess we'd left behind on my desk and she giggled. I covered my face wirh my hands, seeing that he wouldn't put me down, i didn't want people seeing me like this.
It was mildly embarrassing. “People are going to see us!” I cried.
“Are you ashamed of been seen with me?” He asked, shutt8ng me up, I shook my head in response, afraid he'd take it the wrong way.
“Then lean back and enjoy the ride, princess.”
I reluctantly wrapped my hands firmly around his neck and just as we stepped out of the elevator, we almost bumped into Calvin.
“Are you fucking blin-” his words struck in his thirst as he saw that Cameron was the one carrying me. “Al-alpha Giovanni! I didn't expect to see you, when did you arrive?” He stuttered.
Cameron narrowed his eyes and snorted, in derison and i could feel raw fear emanating from Calvin. He chuckled nervously and his eyes were shaky.
“Miss Sheila, you didn't tell me you knew the alpha.” He intoned, trying to ease the tension but i snickered.
“You didn't ask if I knew him or not.” I threw back at him.
His eyes looked everywhere expect mine or Cameron's eyes, poor man was paralyzed with fear and I didn't blame him, Cameron's countenance had changed and he had looks that can kill in an instant written across his face.
“Why are you here?” Cameron asked, his voice was low yet lethal.
“Th-there was an order that you're around and only wants to see one person, if we have no business wirh you we're to not show our faces to you b-”
“Yet you showed your face to me, does it look like I have business wirh you?” Cameron thundered and even I felt a chill as a cold aura emitted from him.
“My apologies my Alpha, well I thought you'd want to see me since-”
“You thought?” Cameron snapped, his expression darkened. “You think I care about what you think?”
“Of course not!” Calvin reply sharply, scared of the implications of his actions.
“Scram!” Cameron ordered and Calvin scurried away like a scared rat.
“Calvin!” I called out, stopping him dead in his tracks.
Shakily, he turned around to face me.
“You wanted to know who it screwed to get this position, now you do.” I informed him, smirking contentedly and enjoying this power trip sponsored by Cameron.
There was a look of contempt in his which was instantly replaced by resentment and fear but he suppressed them all and bowed his head. “I apologize for-”
“Save your apologies, just do your work.” I cut him short and turned my full attention to Cameron. “Let's go home, I'm exhausted.”
Cameron smiled with his eyes. “Of course, anything my princess wants.”
As we walked away, I had a triumphant look on my face, revenge had never felt that good, to my surprise we didn't encounter anyone even till we entered the car.
“Did you order some kind of lock down or something?” I asked, curiously as the car was put in motion.
He shrugged and clicked his tongue. “I have no idea.”
I squinted my eyes and I caught the grim smile on his face so I slapped his shoulder. “Liar!” I accused and he laughed softly.
“Come here.” He instructed and I refused, he tsked and drew me closer to himself, placed my head on his shoulder and gently caressed my hair. “Rest on my shoulders darling.” He cooed.
I wanted to retort, to tell him to stop treating me like a baby but I liked it, no, I loved it, I love when he treats me specially and that he does it with so much intentionality and sincerity. Maybe if we had met earlier, and I knew him before ever knowing Alan, maybe we'd be togeth3r like this forever and I'd live him wholeheartedly without fear of my past catching up.
Cameron didn't only declare his love to me, he showed me he loved me, proved it countless time and all he asked in return was that I marry him, and allow him to love me more. But I've been too hurt to be a recipient of love, so I can only live in the present and enjoy, not daring to hope for a future between us.
He is a weapon to me, a tool that I would use to get my feeble against the cruel world that robbed me of my innocence and ability to believe I am worthy of anything good. If not for anything, I'd do it for my daughter, she mustn't grow up into such a world.
“Yes, Cameron. I'll marry you.” I muttered right before I drifted to dreamland.
The next time I opened my eyes, I was on my bed, my dress has been changed to a comfier one as usual and I saw the silhouette of a family figure sitting right across the room.
“You're awake?” Cameron asked, quietly.
“Have I been asleep for long?”
“Just few hours, I didn't want to wake you up.”
I arched an eyebrow and saw that there was a file in front of him, left untouched and he was staring at me. “What have you been up to since i was asleep, dont tell me you sat there staring at me like a weirdo.”
“I was simply admiring your beauty, you look peaceful when you sleep.”
I threw a pillow at him. “Pervert!”
He laughed and shook his head. “We need to practice your aim, let's teach you how to shoot this weekend shall we? You'll need it someday.”
“Why would I need a gun? I've got you to protect me.”
He blushed. It was brief but it did blush and it was beautiful.
“You just blushed didn't you?” I teased and he pretended to frown.
“No, I didn't. “ he denied it and I laughed. He stood up and came up to me, holding a file in his hands.
“Delilah sent this over, she said it was urgent and important so she had bo choice than to send them over. I don't know what's inside, I don't want to poke nose in your business.” He informed me.
“That's weird.” I commented as I took the file from his hands. I opened it and saw a list of companies whose values have fallen in the stockmarket and might likely fold up, some were worth millions and some were just predictions. It was the perfect opportunity to amass more stocks and give it a turnaround.
My eyes lit up as I saw the name of a familiar company. I couldn't believe it. Cameron began to make his way pit of the room.
“You'll be busy all night judging from the look in your eyes, I'll have the maids bring up your dinner and read Xyla a bedtime story in your behalf, she prefers my stories to yours anyway.” Cameron said.
“You're leaving me?” I pouted, suddenly sad that I'd be left alone.
“Just like you've got work to do my darling, I've got mou pains of paperwork to go through as well, being CEO doesn't mean I work any less. You'll soon understand.”
“Can I invest in the stock market and buy shares of other companies, those at the edge of bankruptcy to be precise?” I asked him, meaningfully.
“Of course, that's a nice strategy, how eyes did you think I have over a hundred companies? You buy the largest share, invest in the company and find more investors to do so and bam! Congratulations, you're the new owner of someone's lifelong business.” He encouraged me.
“But isnt that a bit cruel? Taking away what they built for years?”
“Business isn't fair to anyone darling, you didn't get the money you invested in their business for free, you worked for it too.”
“Thank you. Now shook away, I've got work to do.’ I said, jokingly.
He was surprised at how I doubled down on him and left the room laughing loudly. I got back to work and began to scrutinize the information contained in the files. I called Delilah and informed her we'd be meeting with the companies tomorrow so she had to send over most of the paperwork and legal documents and also arrive to work earlier than usual.
The next day, I arrived at work almost as same time as Delilah and as usual, she got me my favorite coffee.
“Thank you, are all thr files ready?”
“Yes ma'am, I've also scheduled meeting with the representatives of each company that reached out to us.”
“Those that didn't reach out?”
“I've sent them an official email with an offer attached ma'am. “
“Great, have you had breakfast?”
“Bacon and toast.”
“Good, grab a sandwich, a snickers bar or something and also inform the chef to make some pastries to go, we'll be leaving in exactly an hour time and brace yourself because we're going to have a long day.”
Delilah smiled and nodded her head. “Yes ma'am.”
I sat on my chair and downed the coffee in one go as I needed the caffeine, as predicted, I had stayed up all night, going through piles of information and getting to know everything I needed to, it was exhausting but I feel a rush of adrenaline at the thought of finally putting my sales superpower into action and putting all I've learnt to use.
Ten minutes later, I stood in the boardroom and briefed the board members and our sales team about the entire plan since they'd have to play their parts as well. Mine is to close the deals. No one had a contrary opinion amd they were impressed by my proposal, Calvin still couldn't look me in the eye and though I suspected and could see he had something to say, he decided against it.
Good. Let fear subdue him into submission.
As planned, Delilah and I got into the car and I gave my driver the list of places we'd be meeting with people to discuss business. It was mostly public places like a restaurant or a café shop. I wanted to avoid unnecessary attention hence I took Delilah along, I had begun to enjoy her company as well, she has a funny sense of humor.
“Mr Fernando, I am willing to buy sixty percent of your company's share and also be an investor but I'll pay ten million dollars for it and invest five million.” I bargained with Fernado Sanchez, owner of a popular grain mill.
He thought about it for a while and I could feel the reluctance in his actions, I pitied him as well, on a good day, the shares were worth about fifty million but his company isn’t doing well at the time.
“We'll take twenty-five million and it's a deal.” His assistant bargained.
Delilah scoffed softly. “Your company is almost in ruins and you know this money is more of a favor because it'd help you stand on your feet again and as we partner with you, you'll gain more customers in no time.”
I smiled, proud of her and i leaned forward. “Mr Fernando, I know you're going through a hard time but this is business and you know how it goes. I'll give you twenty million all together and that's all I can offer.” I offered him, convincingly. He looked at his assistant who gave him a nod of approval.
“We have a deal.” Fernando agreed and we shook hands.
I left Delilah to take care of the paperwork while I quickly smacked on some tasty samosa, it reminded me of rib brisket and steak from my restaurant, I made a mental note to stop by and buy some or I could take it for free, after all, it all belongs to me.
We met with seven other CEOs at different locations and successfully closed the deals even though some proved to be very difficult but I had learnt the art of closing sales directly from my mentor; Dan Lok.
The last person on the last for the day was a representative from a company I once worked with. When I saw the name on the list, I was excited and saw it as an opportunity to get back at them.
“I will invest ten million if you agree to sell seventy five percent of the company's share to me and I'll pay two hundred and fifty million for it.” I offered Caleb, the sales representative.
He was shocked by my offer.
“I'm sorry, can you give me a minute to consult with my boss? We were only seeking for investments now.” He asked and I consented.
I watched him go make a phone call for about a minute or two as he came back wirh a smile on his face.
“We accept the offer.”
“Then we've got ourselves a deal. I'll leave you to settle the paperwork with my secretary and once finalized, I'll wire the money directly to you and I'll get my shares in return. It's a pleasure doing business with you, have you a nice day.” I said, politely and stood up, walked away.
I waited for Dleilah to round things up with him and I told the driver to take us to my restaurant where I was served the best steak in the world.
“You offered too much money, that company is worth a hundred million at best at the moment but you offered thrice its worth!” Delilah exclaimed, expressing her concerns but I chuckled.
“Its worth half a billion, I built it from the scratch, just sit back and watch how I'll transform it into an empire. You haven't read a file about me or know my past have you? If you did, you'd understand that I made a power move, but you'll understand soon.” I explained to her and continued eating.
