Chapter 10 10
Athena’s POV
‘The nerve of that wench!’ I cursed under my breath as I made my way to Alan's room.
After Sheila had insulted me and left, I stood alone in the mall and had to bear the weird stares and whispers of those around. I had bumped into a girl who was shopping and wanted to hit her but she just laughed at me and repeated Sheila's words.
This infuriated me because it would soon spread around and I'd have to pay off people to kill the stupid fire. I can't let word get put that Sheila was now the most powerful woman alive or that I stole her mate, just like she accused me. I was just getting to instil fear in others and build a solid reputation among Lunas.
“Alan, you wouldn't belive…” my words trailed off as I yanked thr door open only to see an empty room.
Alan's clothes were laid on the bed and there were papers scattered everywhere, I called out his name but was greeted by silence and the echo of my own voice so I headed to the only place I knew he would be. His office.
The door was left ajar and I could see Alan focused, intently on a piece of paper in front of him as he scribbled on it. I snickered amd marched in.
“Alan! I'd already gone to your room and didn't see you there.” I told him, fuming in anger but he didn’t pay any attention to me.
“You wouldn't believe the day I had and the insult I had to bear. I went shopping and ran into that whore I once called my friend and she had the audacity to imply that you're not over her and that I was beneath her, can you believe the nerve?” I narrated, still infuriated byt Alan didn't move an inch, he pretended I wasn't there.
“Are you even listening to me? Don't you dare ignore m-”
I choked on thr rest of my words as Alan suddenly slammed a fist on the table and rose up, I instinctively took a step backwards, feeling a murderous intent oozing from him towards me. His eyes were reddened with anger and he curled his fists into a ball.
“Shut up! Just shut the hell up!” He bellowed.
“What is wrong wirh you?” I threw back, my tone flat and shaky.
He ran his fingers through his hair and ruffled it, something he only did when he was frustrated, then he began to take slow, calculated, menacing steps towards me and I slowly backed away.
“You're scaring me!”
“You are what is wrong with me, you said the man Sheila brought to the party wirh her wasn't the supreme alpha, didn't you?” He asked, angrily.
“Yes, you agreed as well. How do you expect her to know the supreme alpha and even if she did, why would he fall for a whore like her?” I fired back.
“You're wrong because guess what? I received a call from the supreme Alpha's office, he wanted to see me and discuss business but tell me why I arrived there only to realize that Sheila wasn't lying and that man is indeed the supreme alpha!” He yelled at the top of his voice as his body jerked from anger.
“Wait, what!” I exclaimed, puzzled, shocked and in denial.
“Yes, Sheila has the supreme alpha wrapped around her fingers and he threatened to hurt me. All these could've been prevented but no, you had to ruin everything for me! Do you know the losses I'll suffer because of you?” He barked, accusingly.
I stood my ground and yelled back at him. “How is any of this my fault? You also insulted him that night!”
Alan snickered and grabbed my neck, pressing on my throat and I slapped his hands, struggling to breath.
“You’re choking me!” I stuttered.
My vision began to go fuzzy but he didn’t stop.
“This is all your fault! You shouldn't have instigated a fight against Sheila, who knows what lies she'll tell him? It is an open secret that the supreme alpha is not only cruel but dangerous, no one can stop him even id he decides to raze a pack to the ground!”
He let go of me and yanked me aside, I fell to the bare ground, sputtering and gasping for air. Alan didn't spare me a glance.
“I dont care how you'll find your way around this but you have to make sure Sheila doesn't say anything bad about me else my business and pack will be history, kiss her feet, grovel for her favor, I don't care, just fix it and until you do so, I dont want to see your malicious face, don’t step foot anywhere near my pack, I love you but trust me, you don't want to know how dangerous I am.” He warned me.
I laughed, sarcastically as I caught my breath. “I'm the Luna of this pack, you can't just get rid of me like that. We're meant to fix this together, not the other wa-”
“I got rid of my mate without thinking twice, what makes you think you're irreplaceable?” He interjected, didn't give me a chance to speak then walked back to his chair and sat down, as if nothing had happened.
“Get out, I have work to do.” He spat, venomously.
I picked myself from the ground and staggered out of his office. When I got to my car, I got in and hit my steering wheel repeatedly until my hands began to hurt, then I drove back to my house. I only visited the place once in a while as my permanent residence was the Alpha's mansion; Alan's house.
After Sheila has left, I had become the Luna hence I rightfully stayed wirh Alan but now he had thrown me out. I unlocked the door and went straight to my room, ran a warm bath and soaked myself in the water, my entire body ache and tears streamlined my face as I reminisce on the ill treatment I got that day.
“That whore!” I cursed vehemently, throwing my crystal vase at the wall, causing it to shatter at impact.
Sheila was now far above me, my worst nightmare had only begun if she truly has the supreme alpha under her control but I wasn't willing to sit back and do nothing, I had taken away everything from hee years ago and left her ruined and miserable, if I can take her down once, then I'll do it again, and this time, I'm willing to go to the extremes for it.
I dialed a number as I dry my wet body, there was only one foolproof way that I was sure would empower me enough to bring Sheila down and though what it required was an extreme and unthinkable sacrifice, I was more than willing to risk it all.
“Hello, Lady Rose, yes, it's me, Athena. Can we meet this evening?”
“Of course, I'll send you a car to pick you up in half an hour.”
The line went dead and I hung up. I stared at my reflection in the mirror, it's time to take things into my own hands.c
