Chapter 97 Mrs. Lancaster Is Ill

Chapter 97 Mrs. Lancaster Is Ill

"Sent to Harriet?" Lark immediately denied it, "Tristan, I didn't send this photo to Harriet, never!"

"Harriet's phone did receive this photo. I happened to stay out all night, so she misunderstood that we had sex and ran away from home." Tristan's eyes grew colder, "She moved to the clinic, which is why she ran into those two thugs. So the person who sent the photo is also partly responsible for my injury."

If he hadn't been injured, Harriet wouldn't have asked for a divorce.

Lark trembled with fear and quickly said through tears, "Tristan, it really wasn't me. You have to believe me!"

"The photo was sent to Harriet from an unregistered number. There's indeed no evidence proving it was you. But even if it wasn't you, it proves the photo leaked from your phone." Tristan stared at her, "Lark, you can't escape responsibility."

"Tristan, it's my fault. I shouldn't have taken this photo, but I really didn't send it to anyone, especially not to Harriet!" Lark's mind raced, "I'm guessing someone hacked into my phone, found this photo, and used it to cause all this trouble. Tristan, please forgive me."

Tristan grew more annoyed by her crying, "Delete the photo completely. I don't want to see it exist anymore."

"Yes, I'll delete it right away!"

Lark quickly pulled out her phone.

"You can go now."

"Tristan, I want to stay and take care of you."

"I don't need it." Tristan coldly refused.

Lark naturally didn't dare insist, "Then I'll keep my phone on 24/7. Call me if you need anything, I'll come right away."

Tristan closed his eyes and didn't respond.

Lark could only leave dejectedly.

After a while, Tristan picked up his phone and made a call, "Where did they go?"

"Mr. Lancaster, they went to the hospital. It seems Mrs. Lancaster isn't feeling well."

Tristan instinctively tried to get out of bed. The movement was too sudden and pulled at the wound on his lower back.

The sharp pain brought him back to his senses, and he couldn't help but laugh at himself.

They had already registered for divorce. What would it mean if he went to the hospital now?

Not to mention, Nolan was by Harriet's side.

When Harriet woke up again, she found herself lying in a hospital bed. It was already bright outside.

Nolan sat in a chair nearby. Seeing her wake up, he quickly asked, "You're finally awake. How do you feel now?"

"Much better."

Probably from the fever, Harriet's voice was very hoarse.

"Drink some water." Nolan poured water and brought a straw to her lips.

After drinking a few sips, Harriet's dry throat felt better. "Mr. Johnson, thank you for bringing me to the hospital. I'm fine now, you should go to work."

"Harriet, do you really not want to see me that much?" Nolan smiled. "That's not what I mean." Harriet explained, "Staying here is too much of a waste of your time."

If she wasn't mistaken, he must have stayed here all night.

In Harriet's eyes, they were friends, but their relationship definitely wasn't close enough to warrant staying overnight.

"You had a high fever last night. The doctor said you're very weak. Even after the fever breaks, you need to rest properly." Nolan said, "Harriet, you can't be without someone to take care of you."

Harriet thought for a moment, "I'll call Rhea to take care of me. You go do your own things."

"Alright." Nolan didn't insist further, "I'll leave when Rhea arrives. I had someone make porridge for you. Do you want to eat some now?"

"I'm not hungry. I'll eat later."

Rhea rushed over after receiving the call, and only then did Nolan leave.

"Mrs. Lancaster, why do you look so pale?" Rhea felt heartbroken, "I was so scared when Mr. Johnson called me."

"I'm fine now, don't worry."

"Mr. Johnson just told me to feed you something."

Harriet was actually already hungry, but she didn't feel comfortable having Nolan help her eat.

After finishing a bowl of porridge, Harriet lay back down.

"Mrs. Lancaster," Rhea couldn't help but speak up, "Let me call Mr. Lancaster to come keep you company."

"I told you, we're already divorced." Harriet turned her face away, "I'm tired and want to sleep."

Rhea's heart sank, "Alright, rest more so you can recover faster."

Rhea tucked her in and quietly walked out of the hospital room. She took out her phone and called Tristan, "Mr. Lancaster, Mrs. Lancaster is sick and hospitalized. Do you want to come see her?"

Tristan's cold voice came from the other end, "Didn't she tell you we're already divorced? From now on, her affairs have nothing to do with me. Don't tell me about them."

Rhea's sinking heart finally died.

"Mr. Lancaster, Mrs. Lancaster is alone in the hospital. I'd like to stay and take care of her."

"Do as you like."

Tristan dropped that last sentence and hung up directly.

Rhea sighed helplessly, her heart full of worry.

No matter how much they fought before, they never actually got to the point of divorce.

Now they suddenly divorced. The sky over the Lancaster family was probably about to change.

Harriet stayed in the hospital for two days before being discharged.

Rhea accompanied her back to the clinic and couldn't help saying, "Mrs. Lancaster, the living conditions here can't compare to Cloud Bay."

"Cloud Bay is Emberfall's top residential area, naturally it's different." Harriet smiled, "But I think this place is already very good. I'm just an ordinary person, not that delicate."

She understood well the difficulty of going from luxury to simplicity, so during the years she was married to Tristan, she never indulged in the Lancaster family's luxurious lifestyle.

So now that she left him, there was no psychological gap in material terms.

"But it's still inconvenient for you to live here. Look, there isn't even a kitchen. Eating takeout all the time isn't good for your health."

Harriet nodded, "You're right. Living here long-term isn't ideal. I'll look around to see if there are any suitable houses nearby to buy."

"That's good. You need a proper place to settle down."

As they were talking, Harriet's phone suddenly rang.

She glanced at the screen, and her expression immediately tensed.

It was a call from the Lancaster Manor landline.

Harriet answered, "What's wrong?"

"Mrs. Harriet Lancaster, please come back right away."

"Is something wrong?"

"Mrs. Haven Lancaster already knows about your divorce. She almost fainted from anger. Please come back quickly!"

Harriet rushed to the Lancaster Manor. Haven was sitting up in bed, with Owen and Lark both present.

"Harriet, come here."

Harriet walked to the bedside, "Grandma, are you alright?"

"I'm fine." Haven looked at her, "I'm asking you, Owen said you and Tristan are already divorced. Is it true?"

Harriet nodded, "Yes."

"Why?" Haven was puzzled, "Why would you suddenly divorce?"

"It's my problem." Harriet lowered her eyes and spoke calmly, "I'm ungrateful. I can't accept that Tristan's body is ruined."

Haven was stunned, then spoke with certainty, "No, it can't be like that. I know you. You're not that kind of person."

Harriet shook her head, "Grandma, you don't really know the real me. Everyone is selfish. I want to think more about myself."

"No, you must have some unavoidable reason." Haven suddenly realized, "Someone forced you, right? Who is it? Tell me boldly. With me here, no one can force you!"

Lark couldn't help but panic.

She knew Harriet's divorce was Owen's doing. She couldn't guarantee whether Harriet would tell the truth.

If she did, her plan to marry Tristan would fall apart.

After all, they only registered for divorce. There was still a one-month cooling-off period during which they could change their minds at any time.
