Chapter 373 Agree to Divorce

Chapter 373 Agree to Divorce

Caspian asked, "Did Harriet say where she was going?"

"No, she's driving herself. I'm following behind her right now."

"Stay close and don't lose her. I told her that when she goes out, someone I arranged would follow her, and she didn't object," Caspian said. "Call me immediately if anything happens."

"Got it."

Caspian hung up and looked at Ollie. "You just said Grandpa is worried about Harriet and has been in a bad mood? I report to him about Harriet's situation every day, and I always paint things in a positive light. Why is he still so worried?"

"Mr. Mason Romanov isn't stupid. He knows you only tell him the good news and hide the bad. He hasn't been sleeping well at night. He even fell ill a few days ago, but didn't tell you because he didn't want you to worry. With you and Ms. Getty away, it's been Coralie keeping him company and taking care of Mr. Mason Romanov attentively, even more carefully than the doctors. Plus with Qiana around, it's been some comfort to Mr. Mason Romanov, which is why he recovered so quickly."

Caspian said nothing.

"Mr. Caspian Romanov, so you should understand why Mr. Mason Romanov likes Coralie so much. She really is a good girl. At the very least, she's genuinely devoted to you, to Mr. Mason Romanov, and to the Romanov family."

Caspian snapped back to attention and said, "Ollie, are you genuinely devoted to the Romanov family?"

Ollie was taken aback.

"The answer is yes. Everyone else in the Romanov family is genuinely devoted to the Romanov family because it's their source of income," Caspian said flatly. "The Walker family, father and daughter, work for the Romanov family, do their jobs, and get paid what they deserve. The Romanov family hasn't wronged them."

"But they're not satisfied. They want to climb up and become part of the master's family—that's where they're wrong. And according to Grandpa, I have to take responsibility for everything. Do you think that's fair?"

"Coralie may be a good person to Grandpa, but I don't love her."

"Tamsin is also a good person who saved Tristan's life, but I don't see everyone forcing Tristan to marry her."

"Pass these words on to Grandpa and ask him why he's applying double standards when it comes to me."

Ollie watched Caspian get in his car and drive away, sighing helplessly.

The white sports car pulled over to the side of the road after leaving Cloud Bay.

Caspian pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took two hard drags, but it still didn't calm the irritation in his heart.

He hated people tying him and Coralie together.

Even though Qiana already existed.

He did love his daughter, but he didn't think his marriage should be bound together because of his daughter.

Even without Coralie, he had the ability to give Qiana the best life, protect her as she grew up, and ensure she'd never have to worry about anything.

That was enough.

Caspian smoked two cigarettes in a row before the tightness in his chest finally eased somewhat.

Harriet drove alone to the school.

Ryder was already waiting at the entrance. "Mrs. Lancaster, Mr. Lancaster is waiting for you inside."

Harriet said nothing and walked straight into the campus.

Although it was already summer, walking under the shade of trees was quite cool, with the constant sound of cicadas in her ears.

Harriet saw Tristan standing under a tree in the distance.

He wore a black custom-tailored suit, his figure tall and straight. Even just standing there quietly, he was the most striking presence.

Harriet walked up and stopped not far from Tristan. "What do you want?"

Tristan looked at her calmly. "Harriet, do you remember the last time I brought you here and told you this was where we first met?"

"I haven't forgotten." Harriet smiled faintly. "But you might have forgotten what you said to me back then."

"I did say a lot of things to you about looking forward to the future, but things are unpredictable. The only constant in this world might be that everything keeps changing."

Harriet grew impatient. "So why did you ask me to come here today? What exactly do you want?"

"Harriet, since we started from here, let's end it here too." Tristan said, "I've already given orders. After today, this place will be razed to the ground. All memories will cease to exist, and we will become a thing of the past."

Harriet laughed coldly. "So you asked me here today to say goodbye to me. Tristan, you're quite the dramatist. But there's really no need, because I never said I refused to divorce because I couldn't let you go."

Tristan pulled out a cigarette and lit it. "If you're not holding on, why won't you agree to divorce?"

"I told you, I simply don't want to make things easy for you two cheaters."

"Why put yourself through this?"

"None of your business." Harriet smiled. "If you want to raze this place to the ground, it has nothing to do with me. I don't have any memories here anyway. But Tristan, do you really think everything can be erased? What about Della?"

"I can't worry about all that, including Della." Tristan exhaled a smoke ring. "The one I love now is Tamsin. When you love someone, you have to give her status. So Harriet, as long as you're willing to divorce, I can agree to any conditions."

"Really?" Harriet tried hard to stay calm, but her trembling voice betrayed her pretense.

She didn't know why her heart hurt so much.

She only liked Tristan a little bit, it shouldn't be this bad.

But soon, Harriet understood.

Although she had lost her memory, her heart still belonged to the Harriet who hadn't lost her memory.

What she was bearing now was the heartbreak of the Harriet who hadn't lost her memory.

The more her heart hurt, the more it proved how much the version of herself who hadn't lost her memory loved this Tristan standing before her.

"Tristan." Harriet heard her own voice. "You want a divorce and will agree to any conditions, right? Fine, then I want you to die."

Tristan looked at her. "If I'm willing to die, will you agree to divorce?"

"Yes!" Harriet raised her voice. "As long as you die, I'll let you go!"

Tristan finished the last drag of his cigarette, stubbed it out on the ground, walked up in a few steps, and grabbed Harriet's wrist.

"What are you doing?"

Tristan didn't answer. He just led her away and pushed her into the car.

The sports car drove all the way to a hotel. After entering the room, Tristan finally let go of Harriet.

Harriet was confused, but the next second, she saw Tristan pick up a fruit knife from the coffee table.

Harriet frowned. "Tristan, what are you doing?"

He placed the fruit knife in Harriet's palm, held her hand, and pointed the blade at his own heart.

"Stab it in, and you sign the divorce papers." Tristan said firmly, word by word. "Harriet, I hope you keep your word."

Harriet's pupils suddenly contracted. "Tristan, have you lost your mind?"

Tristan smiled, his deep eyes devoid of any emotion, looking at her as if she were an insignificant stranger. "Maybe, but even if I have, I've gone crazy from loving Tamsin."

Harriet bit down hard, not letting her tears fall.

The next second, Tristan suddenly applied force!

Harriet could clearly feel a force pushing her hand forward!

"No!"

Harriet cried out in alarm, watching as the sharp blade pierced into Tristan's chest.

Harriet shuddered violently, her face turning deathly pale!

She instinctively tried to let go and check his wound, but he pressed her hand tightly, refusing to release it.

"Tristan, let go! Let go!"

Tristan smiled. "Harriet, are you willing to divorce now? If you don't think it's deep enough, we can continue."

With those words, Harriet's hand was pulled forward again, the blade piercing several points deeper!

"Tristan!" Harriet could no longer bear the pain and torment in her heart. Tears burst forth as she cried out in anguish, "No!"

"Don't do this..."

Tristan's face grew paler inch by inch, but the corner of his mouth still held a trace of a smile. "Harriet, are you willing to divorce me now?"

Harriet closed her eyes in agony. "I agree, I'll divorce you, I'll let you have what you want..."

Only then did Tristan slowly release her hand, pulling the fruit knife from his chest and pressing his hand firmly against the wound.

The next second, glaring red blood gushed out from his palm.

Harriet rushed to support him. "Tristan, I'll take you to the hospital!"

"No need." Tristan pushed her away coldly. "You can go now."

Harriet stared at him blankly, then nodded as if resigned to fate. "Right... we don't even need to wait for the divorce. From now on, there's nothing between us anymore. I may have lost my memory, but I won't give you Della. After all, your love for her can't compare to your love for Tamsin."

Tristan didn't object. "I said as long as you're willing to divorce, I can agree to any conditions. As you said, Della is yours."

Harriet tried to hold back her tears but couldn't control them.

She raised her hand, wiped the tears from her face, took a deep breath, and suppressed the stabbing pain in her chest.

"Tristan." Harriet looked at this Tristan who was both familiar and strange. "I hope from now on, I never have to see you again."

After saying this, Harriet turned and left.

Tristan watched her slender yet stubborn figure until she disappeared through the doorway. Only then did the sorrow he'd been forcibly suppressing in his eyes gradually crack open.

"My wife." Tristan smiled bitterly, tears slowly falling. "I'm sorry."

Ryder opened the door and came in. Seeing the scene before him, he rushed forward. "Mr. Lancaster, are you alright!"

"I'm fine." Tristan forced himself through the pain in his chest. "Just call a doctor to treat it. Prepare the divorce papers, and tell Griffin that Harriet has agreed to divorce. I'm giving him three days. If the witchcraft on Harriet isn't removed, it'll be his death day!"

Harriet returned to the villa. As soon as she entered, Caspian, who was sitting on the sofa, stood up to greet her. "Harriet, what's wrong?"

"Caspian..." Harriet forced a smile, but could no longer control herself. She took two steps forward, hugged Caspian, and burst into tears.

Caspian raised his arms to hold her, gently patting her back. "Cry, you'll feel better after crying."

Harriet cried for a long time until she was exhausted, then finally stopped.

Caspian helped her sit down on the sofa. "Can you tell me now what happened?"

"It doesn't matter anymore." Harriet smiled. "It's all over."

Caspian nodded. "Harriet, whatever decision you make, I'll support you."

"I'm going to divorce Tristan." Harriet said calmly. "I'll raise Della well and live a good life."

Caspian felt relieved inside, but still showed concern on his face. "Alright, no matter what happens, you have the Romanov family backing you up, so you don't need to be afraid of anything."

"Okay."

Harriet went upstairs to take a shower. When she came back down, dinner was ready.

Caspian ate dinner with her.

Caspian had thought Harriet wouldn't have much appetite, but unexpectedly, her appetite was much better than before.

Caspian tried to detect other emotions on her face, like forced composure, but couldn't sense any.

After finishing dinner and seeing that Harriet's mood was relatively stable, he made an excuse about having things to do and left.

Caspian drove to the hotel. As soon as he entered, he smelled a faint scent of blood.

The hotel's ventilation system was state-of-the-art. If he could still smell blood now, it showed how seriously injured Tristan was.

Caspian knocked on the master bedroom door. Shortly after, the door opened.

It was Finnegan.

"Mr. Romanov."

"Mr. Savoy, how is Tristan?"

"Come in and talk."

As soon as Caspian entered, he saw Tristan lying in bed on an IV drip. He was already asleep, his face pale and bloodless.

Finnegan said, "Although Tristan's injury isn't fatal, it's not light either. But the wound has been treated, and he's running a fever now."

Caspian looked pained. "He's been through so much."

"You both have, for Harriet's sake." Finnegan looked at Tristan on the bed. "As long as he can protect Harriet, he can endure any pain or suffering without complaint. I've already drafted the divorce papers. First thing tomorrow morning, Ryder will deliver them to Harriet for review. Once Tristan feels better, he'll go through the divorce procedures with Harriet."

Caspian asked, "What did Griffin say? After the divorce, how will the witchcraft in Harriet's body be removed?"

"Ryder has already been to see Griffin. He's still saying the same thing—as long as Tristan keeps his word and stays away from Harriet, she'll be fine."

Caspian nodded. "Let's hope everything goes smoothly."

"We have no choice now but to be controlled by Griffin."

Tristan on the bed slowly opened his eyes. Seeing Caspian, he immediately asked, "How is Harriet?"

Caspian answered honestly, "After she got back, she cried hard. After taking a shower and coming downstairs, she'd calmed down, and she ate more than usual. But I'm not sure if she was pretending."

"She wasn't pretending." Tristan smiled weakly, his voice hoarse and barely recognizable. "She's lost her memory and doesn't love me that much. And given her personality, without loving me deeply, after I've broken her heart, she won't have any attachment to me anymore. She's truly given up on me."

"Tristan, I know you're in pain, but there's no other way." Finnegan consoled him.

"I'm just stating facts. I don't regret it." Tristan smiled calmly. "As long as she can live well and not suffer that pain, nothing else matters."

"Tristan, thank you." Caspian didn't know what else to say. As Harriet's brother, anything he said in front of Tristan seemed pale and powerless.

"I'm still a bit worried." Tristan said. "Go back and stay with Harriet."

"Alright, rest well. Call if anything comes up."

At that moment, Harriet was curled up on the sofa, holding a cushion and lost in thought.

The doorbell suddenly rang. A servant went to answer it and came to report, "Ms. Getty, someone is here to see you."
