Chapter 286: The Romanov Family's Young Lady
The people Tristan arranged arrived quickly - bodyguards, servants, and a chef.
Caspian had rooms arranged for them in the backyard.
Dinner was prepared by the chef. Harriet fed Sloane first.
"Ms. Getty, thank you so much," Caspian said gratefully. "Actually, you can eat first. My mom's not in a hurry."
"It's fine. She eats quickly, doesn't take much time." Harriet smiled as she wiped Sloane's mouth. "You sit nicely and watch us eat, okay?"
Sloane nodded hard. "Okay, baby eat fast!"
Only then did Harriet pick up her knife and fork to eat.
Sloane sat beside her watching. "Baby eat! Eat more meat!"
"Okay."
Caspian watched their interaction, his eyes suddenly reddening.
He put down his knife and fork, got up and left the dining room. After smoking two cigarettes in the garden to collect himself, he came back.
After dinner, Tristan had work to do and went straight to his room.
Harriet needed to go treat Mason.
Sloane grabbed her hand and wouldn't let go. "Baby don't go! Bad people! Bad people outside!"
Since Sloane had come downstairs today, Harriet was worried she couldn't adapt all at once and didn't plan to take her outside the gate.
"Mr. Romanov, why don't you take Mrs. Romanov upstairs first? I'll go to the main house myself."
Caspian looked at Sloane. "From the looks of it, she can't be away from you. Why don't we try taking her out?"
Harriet naturally couldn't say much. "She's your mother. You decide."
Harriet explained the situation to Sloane and tried to take her out.
But as soon as Sloane walked out of the villa door and saw the dark night outside, her face went pale with fear. She screamed in breakdown, "Bad people want to take my baby! Baby come back to me! Don't take my child!"
Harriet quickly helped her back inside. "It's okay, Mrs. Romanov, don't be scared!"
But Sloane's emotions didn't calm down. She lost control, grabbing at her own hair. "My child is gone! Who's seen my child? Help!"
Sloane cried out and passed out.
"Mom!" Caspian's temple throbbed hard!
Harriet quickly laid Sloane flat on the sofa and checked her body.
"She fainted from being too emotional. Her body is fine, but this kind of shock is very serious for her mental state."
"I was too hasty." Caspian closed his eyes in regret. "My sister went missing on a night just like this."
"Why didn't you say so earlier?" Harriet frowned. "You didn't let her adjust and just shocked her like this. If something really happened, it would be too late for regrets!"
"I'm sorry." Caspian looked at her. "I thought since she was willing to come downstairs with you today, maybe she could get past that hurdle. I won't be this impulsive again."
"She's your mother. You don't need to apologize to me." Harriet said calmly. "Take her back to her room first. I'll go treat your grandfather."
"Okay."
Two bodyguards accompanied Harriet to the main house.
Ollie was helping Mason take his medicine. Seeing Harriet, he was much more polite than in the morning. "Ms. Getty."
Harriet nodded in acknowledgment.
Mason asked, "I heard Ms. Getty brought Sloane downstairs. That really surprised me."
"Just a coincidence." Harriet went forward to examine him, then began treatment.
Mason had wanted to chat with her, but seeing she was quite aloof, he didn't speak again.
He also knew what methods his grandson had used to get Harriet here. That she could treat him calmly was already quite good.
Plus with Lark's situation, though he didn't hold it against her anymore, there was still a thorn in his heart.
If he got too close to Harriet, how could he face his dead granddaughter?
But Caspian was right - Harriet seemed to have a kind of magic about her that drew people close.
When treatment ended, Harriet didn't stay long. She packed up and left.
She had just taken the elevator to the first floor when she came face to face with a strikingly beautiful young woman, who looked to be about twenty-seven or twenty-eight.
Harriet didn't know her and naturally wouldn't greet her.
She was about to leave when the woman suddenly put her hand out to block her. "You're Harriet?"
Harriet stopped. "Yes."
"I'm Yvonne Romanov, the young lady of the Romanov family. Come with me. I have questions about my grandfather's illness."
Harriet said, "Regarding your grandfather's illness, I only need to report to Caspian. If you have questions, go ask Caspian directly."
Yvonne frowned in displeasure. "Do you know this is the Romanov Manor? What gives you the right to talk to me like this?"
Harriet ignored her and left directly.
She hadn't even reached the door when she heard footsteps behind her.
"Harriet!"
Yvonne quickly walked around in front of Harriet and raised her hand.
A glass of ice water splashed onto Harriet's face.
"Mrs. Lancaster!" The two bodyguards cried out and quickly drew their guns, aiming at Yvonne!
Yvonne froze!
Being able to carry guns in the Romanov Manor was definitely no simple matter!
Harriet raised her hand, signaling the bodyguards not to act rashly.
She wiped the water from her face and gave Yvonne a bright smile.
Yvonne froze again.
This Harriet was too beautiful - even she as a woman was almost captivated by her beauty!
But the next second, Harriet raised her hand.
Two slaps landed cleanly and decisively on Yvonne's face.
Yvonne was stunned by the blows. "What are you doing?"
Harriet smiled. "What? Did I hit too lightly? You didn't feel it?"
Yvonne: "You dare hit me at the Romanov Manor. Aren't you afraid you won't make it out that door?"
"The Romanov family failed to raise their daughter properly. I'm just taking the trouble to teach her a lesson for them." Harriet said with a light smile. "Your grandfather needs me to treat him, Caspian is poisoned by me and could die at any moment. You come to offend me - isn't that just hoping they'll die sooner?"
"I didn't! Stop slandering me!" Yvonne said angrily. "I won't take that blame!"
"You already did it, but you're afraid of people talking?" Harriet laughed lightly. "Lucky for you, you're smart. It was just a glass of water, so I gave you two slaps and won't hold it against you."
"If there had been anything else in that glass, your grandfather and Caspian wouldn't live past tonight."
"Big talk!" Yvonne said disdainfully. "The Romanov family has everything. What good doctor can't they hire? They need to rely on you?"
"How old are you, going around scamming people!"
"You've grown up, but unfortunately you didn't grow a brain." Harriet's eyes grew cold. "Move aside, or you'll regret it."
Yvonne was inexplicably intimidated by her gaze. Her body moved on its own, stepping aside.
Only after Harriet left did she suddenly snap back to reality, so angry she stamped her feet.
"Damn it! I won't let you get away with this!"
In the room, Tristan was working at his computer.
Hearing the door open, he turned to glance at Harriet, his brow furrowing. "What happened?"
"Nothing, the Romanov family's young lady doesn't know any better." Harriet went to get clothes. "I'm going to shower."
"Okay."
After showering and getting dressed, Harriet went upstairs to check on Sloane.
Sloane was still asleep, with Caspian keeping watch by her side.
Harriet examined her. "She's much more stable now. She should sleep through the night. Mr. Romanov, you can go back to your room and rest."
"I want to stay with her a bit longer." Caspian looked at Sloane lying on the bed. "I'm her only family left in this world."
"Your company is indeed good for her." Harriet said. "I contacted Mr. Jones this afternoon. Mrs. Romanov's current condition could be treated, but the risk is too high and there's no guarantee it will work. My opinion is not to take the risk."
"Since you said Mrs. Romanov being able to leave that door is already a miracle, why not let things take their natural course? See if she can continue to make breakthroughs, then decide."
"I'll follow your advice." Caspian looked at her gratefully. "Ms. Getty, I really thank you. You've brought hope to my mother."
"No need to thank me."
A phone suddenly rang.
Afraid of waking Sloane, Caspian got up and left the room to answer it.
After the call, he glanced back at Harriet who was wiping Sloane's face in the room, then went straight downstairs to the main house.
In the princess-style room, a servant was applying medicine to Yvonne's face.
Seeing Caspian, Yvonne immediately complained, "Caspian, perfect timing. Look at that Harriet you brought here - she's a complete shrew! She hit me like this!"
Caspian saw her slightly swollen face and said coldly, "I told you, Harriet is my honored guest. You dared to provoke her?"
"Who provoked her? I just asked her about grandfather's condition, and she slapped me twice."
"Did the Romanov family teach you to twist the truth?" Caspian looked at her with displeasure. "From now on, you're confined to your room for three days. Don't step outside that door!"
"Caspian, how can you confine me? I'm supposed to go shopping with friends tomorrow!"
"It's one thing that you do nothing but spend money - the Romanov family can support you for life. But when you cause trouble and offend people, you're asking for it." Caspian looked at the trembling servant standing nearby. "Watch her."
The servant quickly nodded. "Yes."
When Harriet came downstairs, two different bodyguards were already stationed at the bedroom door.
Harriet asked casually, "Didn't the shift just change earlier tonight? Why did it change again?"
The bodyguard nodded. "Those two failed to protect you properly. Mr. Lancaster punished them."
Harriet frowned and opened the door to enter the room. "Tristan, what happened earlier wasn't the bodyguards' fault."
Tristan was reviewing documents on his computer and said calmly, "If what was splashed on your face today had been sulfuric acid, who would take responsibility for the consequences?"
Harriet walked over and coaxed him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Mr. Mason Romanov and Caspian are the two core people of the Romanov family. Although Elowen is in their hands, their lives are in mine. So the Romanov family won't easily make a move against me."
Tristan turned to look at her. "Don't forget, someone poisoned Mr. Mason Romanov. If those two die, naturally someone new will take over the Romanov family, and that person might very well make a move against you."
"You're right, Caspian thinks the same way." Harriet went along with him. "He just told me that the Romanov Manor has strengthened security. Everyone coming and going has to pass through security scanners. I reminded him to install hidden surveillance in public areas."
"He's also worried that if something happens to me at the Romanov Manor, you'll blame him, and it will definitely end badly for both sides."
"Good that he thinks that way." Tristan said calmly. "He takes his precautions, I take mine. So don't interfere with my punishment of my subordinates."
"Fine, I won't interfere, but go easy on them. Working people have it hard."
"Okay."
After washing up, Harriet leaned against the headboard and video called Della.
"Mommy!"
As soon as Della's sweet childlike voice came through, Tristan immediately put down his work and got up to walk over.
Harriet fell silent.
Sure enough, men all prefer their daughters!
Tristan was afraid Della would be upset, so he didn't dare video call her himself. He just sat on the bed staring at Harriet's phone.
Harriet chatted with Della for half an hour before ending the call.
She smiled at Tristan beside her. "Missing your daughter?"
"Of course I miss her."
He had never imagined he would have a daughter one day.
His and Harriet's daughter.
He was willing to give everything he had to the two of them.
Harriet couldn't help but laugh. "Since you look so pitiful, do you want to see her?"
"No need." Tristan smiled. "She just woke up. I can't let seeing me affect her mood."
"I didn't say you'd meet face to face." Harriet picked up her phone and opened it. "I screen recorded earlier."
Tristan immediately took the phone and saw the recorded video.
In the video, Della had just woken up, her face still drowsy with sleep, telling about the dream she had last night.
Tristan watched intently, completely unwilling to look away.
Harriet leaned on his shoulder. "When Della was first born, she was quite aloof, like you. Later as she grew up, she became more talkative."
"It's better for girls to be cheerful." Tristan said. "Harriet, I'm sorry I wasn't by your side to watch our daughter being born and growing up. That's my lifelong regret."
"It's already in the past, don't dwell on it anymore." Harriet comforted him. "Della is still young. You'll have plenty of time to watch her grow up."
"You're right."
"From now on, I'll record every video call with Della for you to watch."
"Okay."
"It's getting late, let's rest early."
