Chapter 245 Three Years Later, A Long-Awaited Reunion

Chapter 245 Three Years Later, A Long-Awaited Reunion

Harriet's last words hit Tristan hard, making his heart tremble.

He let out a low, hoarse laugh, but tears fell with his laughter. His handsome face was filled with a sense of being shattered.

"Only now do I realize I'm not all-powerful. I can't even protect my own wife, and I've caused her so much pain."

"Honey, if letting you go can truly set you free and make you happy, I'm willing to do it, because I love you."

Tristan's long, slender fingers picked up the pen from the table, opened the divorce papers, and signed his name on the last page.

Harriet's tears flowed even harder. "Thank you for letting me go. I wish you all the best in the days ahead."

With that, Harriet put the pill in her hand into her mouth.

Tristan's trembling hand picked up the medicine from the brocade box and put it in his mouth too.

Harriet picked up the divorce papers from the table and stood up. She took one last deep look at Tristan, then turned and left.

Three years later.

This summer in Emberfall was especially hot.

In the afternoon, a black van stopped in front of a villa.

The automatic door opened, and Harriet stepped out in high heels, then walked around to the other side to lift out a sweet and adorable little girl.

"Mommy, it's so hot!"

"Be good, Della. It won't be hot soon." Harriet carried Della over and rang the doorbell.

The door opened quickly. Nolan looked at them, a gentle smile spreading across his handsome face.

He took Della from Harriet's arms. "Was Della good? Did she cry?"

"Of course she cried. When doesn't she cry getting a shot?"

"Crying is normal." Nolan smiled and tapped Della's nose. "Our Della is still little. When she grows up a bit more, as big as Chase, she won't cry anymore, right?"

"Chase! I want Chase!"

"Chase isn't home from school yet. How about Dad plays games with you first?"

"Okay!"

Harriet watched them, a smile spreading in her eyes.

She went to the kitchen to brew medicine. By the time she brought it upstairs, Della had already fallen asleep in Nolan's arms.

Harriet said quietly, "Put her down."

"Okay." Nolan carefully placed Della in the crib, covered her with a thin blanket, bent down to kiss her forehead, then got up and left.

Harriet placed the medicine on the coffee table in the small living room. "Drink your medicine."

"You can leave these things to the servants."

"It's fine. I feel better doing it myself."

Nolan finished the warm medicine in a few sips. "Harriet, thank you."

"Between us, there's no need to say that."

"There's a dinner party tonight that requires bringing family. Will you come with me?"

"Of course." Harriet agreed right away. "It's just that the nanny took the day off, so there's no one to watch Della."

Nolan said, "Tonight's event is a charity dinner for children. We can bring Della."

"That works." Harriet nodded. "It's good for her to be exposed to these things from a young age. Let's bring Chase too."

"Whatever you say."

At seven in the evening, the four of them arrived at the dinner venue on time.

Since it was a children's charity event, many guests had brought their kids, and there was even a special children's play area set up.

Della's beautiful eyes lit up immediately. "Mommy, Della wants to play!"

"Okay, Mommy will take you to play."

Harriet took the two children to the play area while Nolan went to network.

"Harriet?"

An excited woman's voice came from behind.

Harriet turned around and said with pleasant surprise, "Flora, you're here too."

"You're back in Emberfall?" Flora excitedly stepped forward and hugged her. "I've missed you so much."

They had only met once three years ago, at the airport, when Flora saw her and Niamh off.

"Flora, it's good to see you."

"I'm doing great." Flora said happily. "I chat with Niamh often, and I've seen plenty of Della on her Facebook."

"Della's playing inside."

Flora looked over. "Della is so beautiful. She inherited your good looks."

"Thank you."

The two went to a nearby rest area to chat.

After a while, Chase ran over. "Mom, I need to use the bathroom. Can you watch Della?"

"This is your first time here, let me go with you." Harriet stood up. "Flora, could you please watch Della for me?"

"No problem, go ahead."

Harriet took Chase's hand and found the restroom sign. "It's over there. Mom will wait for you here."

"Okay."

Harriet stood there waiting, taking out her phone to pass the time.

Soon, footsteps came from behind.

Harriet thought it was Chase and turned around while speaking, "Done already? Then let's..."

Her words stopped abruptly.

Because the person approaching wasn't Chase.

The moment Tristan saw Harriet, his pupils suddenly contracted.

Harriet felt uncomfortable being stared at. Just as she was about to leave, a hand grabbed her arm.

Harriet frowned and turned to look at him. "Sir, what are you doing?"

Tristan froze, as if suddenly realizing what he'd done, and immediately let go of her. "Sorry... Miss, may I ask... have we met somewhere before?"

Harriet smiled. "That's such an old pickup line. I haven't heard it in years. Sorry, I've never seen you before."

Tristan was about to speak when a voice came from behind. "Mom, I'm done."

Tristan froze.

Chase saw Tristan and his expression became a bit uncomfortable, but he quickly regained his composure and stepped forward. "Mom, let's go."

"Okay."

Harriet simply took Chase's hand and left.

In the banquet hall, someone came over to greet Flora.

Flora was chatting with them when suddenly, a child's crying came from the play area.

Flora thought it was Della and immediately got up to check.

It was a little boy crying, with Della standing nearby watching him.

The two seemed to be about the same age, though Della was a bit shorter.

Della was quite thin, while the little boy was well-fed and chubby.

Flora was about to step forward to comfort them when suddenly a figure rushed out, picked up the little boy, and said, "Wilder, what's wrong? Who bullied you? Tell Mommy."

"Her!" Wilder pointed at Della. "She pushed me!"

Quinlan looked at Della on the ground and was about to scold her when she suddenly froze.

This little girl looked strangely familiar.

She ran through her memory and quickly figured out who she resembled.

Harriet!

This little girl's features looked almost exactly like Harriet's!

Thinking of Harriet made Quinlan angry. She reached out and roughly pushed Della.

Della fell on her bottom.

Flora immediately strode over.

But before Flora could get close, Della got up from the ground and swung her little fist at Quinlan's leg. "Bad woman! Don't hit me!"

Flora couldn't help but silently cheer her on.

Della's personality of not taking any nonsense was exactly like Harriet's!

But the sudden fierceness in Della's eyes wasn't like Harriet.

It was more like...
