Chapter 211: Did You Miss Me?
Harriet's pupils suddenly contracted!
"Lark?"
The two bodyguards behind her immediately reacted.
One pulled Harriet back to shield her, while the other drew his gun and aimed it at Lark!
"What, you see me and act like I'm your worst enemy? Even pulling out a gun?" Lark wore a white haute couture dress, propping her head up with one hand, lazily leaning against the pillow. "Harriet, long time no see. Did you miss me?"
Harriet stepped forward, "What are you doing here?"
"Can't I be here?" Lark said with a light laugh. "Or are you disappointed to see me still alive? Ms. Getty, with your compassionate medical heart, do you spend every day hoping I'd die?"
"Whether you're dead or alive has nothing to do with me," Harriet said calmly. "I can't treat your condition. Goodbye."
After speaking, Harriet turned to leave.
"Harriet." Lark called out to her. "Aren't you curious why I disappeared for two years?"
Seeing Harriet didn't stop, Lark raised her voice, "What if my disappearance had something to do with you!"
Harriet paused, turned to look at her, "What did you say?"
Lark laughed softly, "Thanks to you, I almost died at sea."
Harriet first thought of Tristan.
But she quickly dismissed it in her mind.
Lark had saved Tristan's life, so he couldn't possibly harm her.
Harriet frowned, "Was it Griffin?"
"Harriet, you really are smart." Lark sneered. "That's right, it was Griffin! He loves you like crazy. For you, he wouldn't hesitate to kill."
Harriet's mind was in chaos, "It was really him?"
"You don't believe me?" Lark smiled. "He contacted me first, wanting to work together. He said as long as he targeted me for your sake, I could go cry to Tristan, and Tristan would definitely protect me. Naturally, you wouldn't be able to accept that, which would drive a wedge between you and your husband."
"I naively thought our goals were the same, so we could really work together."
"But I didn't expect he was scheming against me. After I trusted him, he invited me onto a boat to discuss things. I was still naively thinking about seducing him."
Lark recalled that moment and couldn't help but shudder. "For you, he personally stabbed me and pushed me into the sea. If I hadn't been lucky, I'd probably be dead without a trace by now."
Harriet's fingers trembled.
So Lark going to Lakeside Gardens to seek Tristan's protection, which caused their conflict, was Griffin's doing.
"Harriet, I heard you left Emberfall for two years, and Tristan waited for you for two years. You're so lucky." Lark sneered. "These men, each one loves you more than the last."
Harriet composed herself and asked, "Your current status must be quite special, right? What do you want? To get revenge on Griffin?"
"Of course."
Harriet smiled faintly, "Since you were lucky enough to survive, cherish your life and don't do anything stupid again."
"You're right, I should cherish my life." Lark raised an eyebrow. "But that last part, I'm giving back to you. The one who's likely to do something stupid isn't me, it's you. God let me live so I could get back everything I lost!"
Harriet ignored her and turned to leave.
After the three got in the car, the bodyguard spoke up, "Mrs. Lancaster, Lark coming back alive is a big deal. We must report this to Mr. Lancaster."
Harriet didn't object, "Okay, just report it as it is."
"Yes."
Harriet took out her phone and called Griffin.
"Harriet." Griffin answered quickly. "You're calling me?"
"Where are you?"
"The Lancaster Group."
"I'm coming to see you now."
Half an hour later, Harriet arrived at Griffin's office, with the two bodyguards standing outside the door.
"You've been avoiding me, wouldn't even answer my calls, so why the sudden visit today?" Griffin poured her a glass of water. "Is there something urgent?"
Harriet looked at him, "Lark is still alive."
Griffin froze, then laughed lightly, "She told you everything? Looks like she's pretty tough."
"Are you crazy?" Harriet suddenly stood up. "Murder is illegal!"
"That's why I specifically arranged to meet her in international waters." Griffin's tone was as calm as if discussing what to have for dinner. "Killing someone in international waters, Athenia's laws can't touch me. Harriet, did I do something wrong by getting revenge for you?"
Harriet closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down. "Griffin, Lark isn't a good person, and I also hope that one day she'll pay for what she's done."
"I want revenge, but not by breaking the law, and definitely not by risking my own life. Do you understand?"
"I've been working hard to collect evidence of her crimes, hoping to bring her to justice. That's the right way to handle this."
"With Tristan protecting her, do you think you can succeed?" Griffin said coldly. "Harriet, I know you're not a saint, but that's far from enough! You need to be ruthless! Of course, I was wrong about this. My mistake was not making sure she was dead, letting her escape and survive!"
"Griffin, how did you become like this?" Harriet looked at him in confusion. "You weren't like this before. You were gentle and kind, principled in everything you did."
"I am following my principles." Griffin smiled. "My principle is that I won't let anyone who hurts you get away with it."
"But I don't need that." Harriet closed her eyes. "All you're doing is making me owe you, nothing more."
"You killed for me, and now Lark is back for revenge. I can't just ignore it. But I have a husband who wouldn't want me involved with another man like this, and I shouldn't be involved with you either."
"Harriet, you don't need to worry about me." Griffin looked at her. "I never intended for you to know I killed for you. If Lark hadn't come back alive, you would never have known."
"The situation now isn't as simple as you think." Harriet said seriously. "Lark seems to have become some rich young lady, and the power behind her doesn't seem simple."
"Harriet, I won't drag you down." Griffin stood up, looking directly into her clear eyes. "If Lark wants revenge on me, let her come. This has nothing to do with you."
"You killed for me, how can it have nothing to do with me?" Harriet's mind was in chaos. "Given the current situation, we can only take it one step at a time."
"Protect yourself, remember to bring bodyguards when you go out. You know I hate owing people favors. If something happens to you because of me, I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life."
After speaking, Harriet turned to leave.
"Harriet!" Griffin called out to her. "Considering I'd do anything for you, can you forgive me about the diary?"
Harriet stopped, hesitated for a moment, then said, "Those are two different things. And Griffin, I never wanted you to do anything for me."
"Not to mention, in this matter, while you were scheming against Lark, you were also driving a wedge between Tristan and me."
"Griffin, don't keep making mistakes. If you continue like this, Ms. Wallace watching from heaven will be very disappointed in you."
