Chapter 199 Kidnapping
But the next second, Tristan still forced himself to hold back the impulse in his heart.
Tristan closed his eyes in pain and slowly clenched his hands into fists.
"Tristan," Quinlan said gently, "If you can't let go, you should take the initiative to win her back. You've been married for so many years, there must be some feelings there, right?"
When Tristan opened his eyes, they had already regained their calm.
He ignored Quinlan's words and strode directly into the elevator.
Quinlan smiled and followed him into the elevator.
Harriet's work today was to inspect the usage of MediQuest Group equipment at various hospitals.
She just didn't expect to run into Tristan by such coincidence.
She quickly adjusted her state and got back to work.
By the time the inspection ended, the afternoon had passed.
Harriet had just gotten into a taxi when she received a call from Finnegan.
"Harriet, Tristan has asked me to handle the divorce proceedings with you. What's going on?"
Harriet's heart trembled. "He wants to divorce me, right?"
"Yes."
Harriet's eyes immediately turned red.
She held back her tears and said, "Fine, we can divorce, but before that, I need to see him. There are some things I must ask him face to face."
"Okay, I'll pass that along."
When Harriet returned to Lakeside Gardens, Finnegan called again. "Harriet, Tristan says he doesn't want to see you and has nothing to say to you. He's leaving all divorce matters to me to handle."
Harriet actually laughed in anger. "Then please tell him for me - divorce? He shouldn't even think about it!"
"Also, we're not divorced yet. If he dares to bring another woman home to spend the night again, he'll face the consequences!"
Finnegan looked at the disconnected call, completely confused.
Two days later, Finnegan finally found time to go to Cloud Bay to find Tristan.
He rang the doorbell for a long time but no one answered. However, Finnegan knew the door code and let himself in.
The lights were on in the villa, but it was unusually quiet.
Finnegan searched around and found Tristan drinking alone in the wine cellar in the basement.
"What's wrong with you?" Finnegan asked. "After Harriet found out about the diary, didn't she come looking for you?"
Tristan frowned slightly. "You told her about the diary?"
"Yes."
"Who told you to tell her!" Tristan shouted angrily. "If you hadn't told her, she wouldn't have rushed to Cloud Bay to find me, and she wouldn't have gotten into that car accident!"
"How was I supposed to know that would happen?" Finnegan said innocently. "After I met with her that day, I thought she would come find you soon. I left on a business trip early the next morning and was too busy to ask about things between you two. I only found out a couple days ago when I got back that Harriet had been in a car accident. So you two never met up to talk things through?"
"No."
Finnegan sighed helplessly. "Harriet said if you don't meet with her to clear things up, she won't divorce you."
Tristan irritably pulled out a cigarette and lit it. "With you here, we can naturally get divorced."
Finnegan was stunned. "Before, you refused to divorce no matter what. Why do you want to divorce now?"
"Griffin was right. All her suffering came because of me." Tristan poured himself a drink. "I'm letting her go. I hope that without me, the rest of her life can be peaceful and smooth."
Finnegan frowned. "What about Harriet saying you brought a woman home to spend the night?"
"The day she came, Quinlan happened to be there. I used her as an excuse to force Harriet to leave."
Finnegan felt very helpless. "You two really know how to fight!"
"Don't tell her," Tristan said with a bitter smile. "I've already decided to let go. As long as she doesn't come looking for me, I won't waver."
"But some things still need to be said face to face, right?" Finnegan said seriously. "That day when I saw Harriet's reaction, the diary thing might not be so simple. She didn't admit to liking Griffin."
Tristan froze. "Are you serious?"
"Of course I'm serious. I don't think Harriet is someone who would act, and she has no need to act - she's not after anything from you." Finnegan patted his shoulder. "Tristan, you've been husband and wife. If your fate together has really run its course, you should meet one more time, clear the air, and part on good terms."
Tristan was clearly starting to waver. "Where is she?"
"When I was coming here, I called her. She said she went out for a drive."
"By herself?"
"Who else?"
Tristan suddenly stood up and strode outside. "Opal escaped and still hasn't been caught. If Harriet goes out alone, she'll definitely become her target!"
Maple Mountain.
Harriet sat on a bench, staring blankly at the Emberfall night view in the distance.
Two sports cars stopped in an open area.
Three young men got out, dressed like thugs.
"Hey, beautiful!"
"Let me see what you look like."
The three men walked up, and when they saw Harriet, their eyes flashed with amazement.
"Are you a fairy?"
"Beautiful, why are you sitting here alone in a daze? Did you break up with someone? Tell us about it."
It wasn't until a hand landed on Harriet's shoulder that she finally snapped back to reality.
Harriet frowned slightly. "Take your hand off."
"Don't be so fierce. We'll buy you a drink."
Harriet's eyes turned cold. "I'll say it one more time. Take your dirty hand off."
"You're pretty feisty. I like..."
Before he could finish, the man's fingers were grabbed.
Harriet applied force, and the man's howl echoed through the sky.
The man looked at his deformed pinky finger, tears streaming from the pain. "It hurts! It hurts so much!"
"Don't worry, it's just broken. You won't die." Harriet dusted off her hands. "Consider it a lesson for your hand."
The man was furious. "What are you two standing there for? Hold her down! Tonight I'm going to show her what I'm made of!"
The other two men immediately rushed forward!
Harriet stood up and in no time had both men lying on the ground groaning.
Harriet placed one foot on the bench, looking at the three men with a half-smile. "Still not leaving? Waiting for me to throw you down the mountain?"
"You... you just wait!"
The three men ran off cursing.
Harriet had originally come here to get some air, but now that she'd been disturbed, she naturally lost interest.
She had just turned to leave when she suddenly heard rustling footsteps behind her.
Harriet was about to turn around when someone grabbed her from behind, and a wet towel covered her nose and mouth.
By the time Harriet realized what it was, her vision went black and she passed out.
When Tristan drove up the mountain, he passed a white sedan coming down.
He usually kept his eyes straight ahead, but from the corner of his eye he still glanced at the person in the driver's seat.
The driver was wearing a hat and mask, very mysterious.
Tristan didn't pay attention and drove straight to the mountaintop.
Harriet's sports car was parked there, but Harriet was nowhere to be seen.
"Harriet? Harriet!"
Tristan called out twice, but no one responded.
He took out his phone and called Harriet.
The call connected, but the ringtone came from the ground.
Tristan walked forward and saw Harriet's phone on the ground.
He suddenly realized something was wrong!
"Mr. Lancaster."Ryder had also arrived. "Where's Mrs. Lancaster?"
"Something happened to her!" Tristan's eyes darkened. "Twenty minutes ago, a white sedan went down the mountain. Harriet is very likely in that car! Pull up all the surveillance footage along the route immediately and find that car!"
"Okay!"
Tristan picked up Harriet's phone and got back in his car.
He had just driven halfway down the mountain when Ryder's call came in.
"Mr. Lancaster, I checked. There was indeed a white sedan that went down the mountain, but after going down, it didn't appear on any surveillance. I had people investigate and found the car parked on a secluded roadside at the foot of the mountain, but there's no one in the car."
Tristan suddenly recalled those eyes of the driver!
"It's Opal!"
