Chapter 190 I Want You
The next day.
Harriet woke up feeling groggy. The slightest movement sent a wave of soreness through her body.
She slowly opened her eyes to see Tristan's stunningly handsome face as he slept.
When he was asleep, he looked less sharp and a bit gentler.
After they got married, even though he was in a vegetative state, Haven insisted they share a bed.
Harriet still remembered how nervous and excited she felt the first time she lay beside him.
Back then, Harriet loved to stare at him, as if she could never look enough, and she secretly hoped he would wake up soon.
A month later, he miraculously did wake up.
But then Harriet didn't dare stare at him anymore, or even lie in the same bed with him. She slept on the couch instead.
Until they became intimate.
Harriet had always been in the habit of waking up before Tristan, just like now, quietly gazing at him.
Back then, just looking at him would make her heart race uncontrollably.
But now, looking at that handsome face, Harriet felt a mix of emotions and didn't even know how to face him.
Harriet carefully removed his arm from around her and quietly left.
For the past two years, Tristan had barely slept well.
After Harriet went abroad, he continued drinking heavily. It took two or three months before he started living and working normally again.
But at night, he simply couldn't fall asleep.
At first, alcohol helped him sleep, but later even that stopped working.
He could only throw himself into work like crazy, working late almost every night until his body was exhausted enough to sleep.
The room was dimly lit.
When Tristan woke up, he felt better than he had in ages.
After two years of insomnia, this was the first time he'd slept well. It felt like being reborn.
Except Harriet wasn't beside him.
The bed was cold, meaning she'd been gone for a while.
Tristan picked up his phone from the nightstand and called Harriet.
The call wasn't blocked, but no one answered.
Tristan frowned slightly and called Ryder. "Find out where Harriet is."
"Okay."
When Tristan finished washing up and came out of the bathroom, Ryder's call came through. "Mr. Lancaster, Mrs. Lancaster left Apex Global Group this morning and took the earliest flight to Luminara City."
Tristan's eyes darkened instantly!
She left?
Harriet, who had been tangled up with him all night, just left without saying a word?
Tristan said through gritted teeth, "Arrange a plane! To Luminara City!"
This time, he wouldn't let Harriet leave him again!
Harriet was on a business trip to Luminara City.
MediQuest Group had opened up the Athenia market, and she needed to personally visit hospitals in various areas to understand how things were going.
Harriet spent half the day running around hospitals. In the evening, she politely declined the hospital's dinner invitation and took a car straight to her hometown.
By the time she arrived in Dewdrop town, it was past nine at night.
"Ms. Getty, we're here."
Harriet, who had been sleeping in the back seat, opened her eyes. "Thank you, you can head back."
"Okay."
Harriet opened the car door and got out, only to see lights on inside the house.
Harriet frowned.
Jasper and Xanthe were in Emberfall and hadn't come back, and she hadn't lent the house to anyone else either.
Harriet immediately became alert and called the driver back. "What if there's a burglar in my house? Come in with me to check."
"Okay."
The driver even grabbed something he could use as a tool and went in with Harriet.
The yard gate had a fingerprint lock. Harriet entered her fingerprint and went in, seeing the well-maintained courtyard.
It was spring, and the climbing roses in the corner were in full bloom, beautiful and eye-catching under the ground lights.
Harriet was about to open the door when it suddenly opened from inside.
"Mrs. Lancaster?"
Rhea looked at Harriet standing in the yard in disbelief. "Is it really you? Mrs. Lancaster, you're back!"
"Rhea?" Harriet was quite surprised too. "What are you doing here?"
Rhea was so excited she didn't know what to do. She stepped forward and grabbed Harriet's hands, tears welling up. "Mrs. Lancaster, I'm not dreaming, it's really you!"
"I'm so happy! Mr. Lancaster sent me here. He said you like things clean and the house couldn't go without care, so he's had me come here ever since you went abroad. I've been waiting here for you to come back!"
Harriet's nose tingled.
She let the driver leave and went inside with Rhea.
Everything in the house was the same as two years ago. Rhea had always been hardworking and loved cleanliness—she'd kept it spotless.
"Rhea, thank you for looking after the house for me."
"Mrs. Lancaster, what are you saying? I get to live here peacefully and still get paid—I'm the lucky one. Why did you suddenly come back?"
"I missed home, so I came back to see it."
"I clean your room every day. I'll go make your bed right now!"
"Thank you."
Rhea went upstairs happily.
Harriet went to Kai and Cleo's room. It was clean and tidy, as if someone lived there.
Harriet picked up the photo frame on the desk.
The photo was from when she had just started elementary school—a picture of her with Kai and Cleo at the front door.
Harriet couldn't help but tear up.
She missed them so much.
Footsteps suddenly sounded behind her.
Harriet thought it was Rhea and was about to ask if she needed help when she was suddenly embraced.
Long arms wrapped tightly around her from behind, and a familiar masculine scent enveloped her.
Harriet froze.
Tristan's chin rested on her shoulder, his deep, pleasant voice sounding in her ear. "If you missed home, why didn't you ask me to bring you back?"
Harriet pressed her lips together slightly. "I just wanted some time alone to think."
"And then?" Tristan forcibly turned her shoulders, making her look at him. "Harriet, you want to avoid me, don't you?"
Harriet didn't confirm or deny it.
Her heart was in chaos.
Reason told her she should stay away from Tristan.
One month—just one more month and they wouldn't be husband and wife anymore. They could have nothing to do with each other.
But last night, they had gotten tangled up together again and had sex when they shouldn't have.
She had no idea how to face him or how to deal with their relationship.
"Harriet, I won't allow you to leave me." Tristan cupped her face. "I know you're still hesitating, still wavering. I'll give you time, as long as you don't try to run away from me. I'll make up for all the hurt you suffered before. If you don't think I'm sincere enough, I'll prove it to you properly, okay?"
Harriet didn't know what to say. "Tristan, why do this?"
"Because I'm very clear about what I want." Tristan spoke firmly, word by word. "Harriet, I want you!"
