Chapter 182: Get Married on the Spot

Chapter 182: Get Married on the Spot

Harriet pulled out her phone and called the property management directly.

"I'm the owner of Unit 2501, Building 1. What kind of job are you doing? Why are you letting strangers into the complex?"

The property manager rushed over with security guards. "Ms. Getty."

Harriet pointed at Tristan. "This person isn't an owner, right? Why can he come and go as he pleases?"

The property manager was about to kick him out, but the moment he saw Tristan, he immediately bowed respectfully. "Mr. Lancaster."

Tristan didn't acknowledge him.

The property manager looked at Harriet awkwardly. "Ms. Getty, I'm sorry, but this is Mr. Lancaster."

"What do you mean?" Harriet was unhappy. "Just because he's rich, he doesn't have to follow the rules?"

"Ms. Getty, Mr. Lancaster isn't an owner, but he is the developer."

Harriet froze.

"That's impossible. This complex isn't under Apex Global Group."

The property manager explained, "This complex belongs to a subsidiary of Apex Global Group."

Harriet's face went pale with anger.

Tristan said calmly, "You can leave now."

"Okay." The property manager quickly left with his people.

Tristan walked up to Harriet with long strides, his unfathomable eyes fixed on her tense face. "Do you really hate seeing me that much?"

"What exactly do you want?" Harriet looked up, meeting his gaze directly.

Once upon a time, she had been so fascinated by these deep, ocean-like eyes.

But her fascination had pushed her into hell again and again.

She had even dragged an innocent child down with her.

Thinking of the child, that familiar stabbing pain spread from her heart. Harriet hurt so much she couldn't breathe.

She thought she had let go. She thought she could treat Tristan like a stranger and feel nothing.

But it turned out she couldn't fool herself.

The moment she saw him, those painful memories still flooded back, suffocating her.

Tristan could sense the pain she couldn't suppress in her clear eyes. He couldn't help but grip her shoulders. "Harriet, does seeing me cause you this much pain?"

"Yes!" Harriet's eyes turned red as she answered firmly, "I don't want to see you! Not even for a second! If I have to keep seeing you, I'll sell this place and leave Emberfall. I hope I never have to see you again!"

Tristan's heart felt like it was being cut by knives. His deep voice was restrained and difficult. "I only came to tell you that Grandma is back. She's missed you these past two years. Go see her when you have time."

He didn't dare admit that he wanted to see her.

So he could only use this poor excuse.

Harriet pushed his hands away. "I will go see her, but it has nothing to do with you. I'm not going as her granddaughter-in-law, but as a younger person she cares about."

After saying this, Harriet opened the door and went inside, shutting Tristan out.

She closed her eyes, suppressing the tears, went to the bathroom to wash her face, then returned to her study to practice medicine.

The next afternoon, Harriet was working in her study when the doorbell suddenly rang.

She got up to answer it and saw Haven standing at the door with Iris behind her.

When their eyes met, everyone froze.

Haven couldn't help but tear up. "Harriet."

"Grandma!"

Harriet rushed forward and hugged her. "Grandma!"

"Harriet, let me look at you!" Haven cupped her face. "Harriet, you're getting more and more beautiful."

"Grandma, come inside."

Harriet brought Haven in and made tea for her and Iris.

"Mrs. Harriet Lancaster, you're finally back." Iris choked up. "You don't know how much Mrs. Haven Lancaster has missed you these two years. Last night when she heard you were back in Emberfall, she rushed back from out of town immediately."

Harriet smiled at her. "Iris, just call me Ms. Getty."

Iris paused, then changed her address. "Okay, Ms. Getty."

"Grandma, I'm sorry for making you worry." Harriet held Haven's arm, leaning affectionately on her shoulder. "Fortunately, Mr. Jones said your health is still good, so I can relax."

"My health is fine, I just miss you."

"I'm not leaving so soon this time. I can spend more time with you." Harriet said, "I invited Griffin and Niamh over for dinner tonight. Stay and join us."

"Of course, I haven't tasted your cooking in a long time."

"I'll go prepare now."

Harriet ordered groceries on her phone and soon got busy in the kitchen.

Haven stayed with her.

"Grandma, go sit down. Let Iris keep you company."

"Iris isn't here. I sent her to buy some supplements for you."

"Grandma, I don't need anything."

"Girls need to take care of themselves." Haven looked at her. "Last night at Mr. Habsburg's birthday party, you saw Tristan?"

"Yes."

"He didn't bother you, did he?"

Harriet didn't comment. "Grandma, even though I'm back in Emberfall, I still hope to avoid running into him as much as possible. So I won't go to the Lancaster Manor anymore. Whenever you miss me, just come here, okay?"

Haven understood what she meant. "Harriet, actually, I've had a question for the past two years that I hope you can answer."

"Go ahead."

"You two had already made up back then. Why did things suddenly turn out that way? What exactly happened?"

Harriet smiled. "You should ask him that question, because I don't know why either."

"How can that be?" Haven was confused. "Didn't you go ask him to clear things up?"

"I did. I waited for him downstairs at Apex Global Group for a whole day, but he refused to see me. I had to give up." Harriet's lips twitched, her heart feeling like something was tearing at it, waves of dull pain spreading. "And even if I got answers, the child wouldn't come back. So I could only go abroad and get away from here."

Haven shook her head. "I watched Tristan grow up. I always felt he wouldn't be so cruel as to do something to his own child."

"Grandma, let's not talk about this." Harriet composed herself, saying lightly, "It's all in the past. Compared to me being in agony, you'd rather see me as I am now, right?"

"Of course."

"Then that's it. I'm doing well now."

Two years ago, she chose to escape Emberfall to let go of everything here as quickly as possible.

She could be immersed in pain, but she couldn't drag down the people around her.

After what happened to her, Ian, Griffin, and Niamh took turns staying with her 24 hours a day. It was exhausting.

She didn't want to burden these people who cared about her.

After going abroad, Harriet spent a long time pulling herself together, throwing herself into her career and developing new hobbies.

Time has always been the best medicine, slowly helping her move past the pain of losing her child.

Although she still thought of that child when she woke up in the middle of the night, she had learned to suppress the pain. By the time she got up the next day, she could still calmly go to work.

Perhaps that was enough.

Dinner was lavish.

Harriet prepared a table full of dishes, catering to everyone's tastes.

"Mrs. Haven Lancaster, this is our first meeting. Let me toast you." Niamh raised her glass. "I often hear Harriet mention you. I didn't expect you to look so young."

Haven beamed. "You're such a sweet talker. I heard you were the one who went abroad with Harriet and stayed by her side to take care of her. Thank you."

"It's what I should do." Niamh smiled. "And to thank me, Harriet even gave me shares in MediQuest Group. I'm the one who benefited."

Two years ago, Niamh was too worried to let Harriet go abroad alone and insisted on going with her.

But Harriet had never shortchanged her.

"Harriet has always been grateful, and you deserve it."

"Thank you. Let me toast you again."

"Okay."

The group chatted while eating. Niamh loved sharing and specially took a group photo to post on Facebook.

Downstairs, a Rolls-Royce was parked at the building entrance.

Ryder held his phone and turned to look at Tristan, who was resting with his eyes closed in the back seat.

"Mr. Lancaster, I hacked into Niamh's phone. Take a look."

Tristan slowly opened his eyes and took the phone Ryder handed him.

In the photo, four people sat around a table. Haven sat in the main seat, with Harriet and Niamh on either side of her, while Griffin sat next to Harriet.

The four of them were smiling happily at the camera!

There were countless likes and comments below.

【Oh my god, if I'm not mistaken, is that the campus beauty Harriet and Griffin?】

【Niamh, you're doing so well now? Eating at the same table with them?】

【Am I the only one who thinks Harriet and Griffin are a perfect match?】

【I hope Harriet and Griffin get married!】

【They're already a couple, right? Because they're sitting closest to each other!】

Tristan's eyes turned ice cold!
