Chapter 176: Abortion Surgery
The handwriting above was clear and bold, with strong, powerful strokes—obviously written by a guy.
[March 14th, Tuesday, Sunny.
Harriet has grown up, like a little sun, radiating light all over, so dazzling I can't look directly at her.]
[May 5th, Friday, Cloudy.
So many guys are chasing after Harriet, so many it's annoying. But what right do I have to be annoyed?]
[May 20th, Saturday, Sunny.
Lately Harriet keeps avoiding my eyes. I don't know what I did to upset her. Next time I come back, I'll buy her favorite caramel pudding. Maybe that'll make her happy.]
[June 1st, Wednesday, Rain.
Harriet asked if I like any girls. I said no. But I lied to her.]
[August 9th, Saturday, Rain.
Today Harriet suddenly confessed to me, completely out of the blue! So this is what happiness feels like. Silly Harriet, she ran away right after confessing. It's probably for the best—at least she didn't see me lose control.]
[August 16th, Saturday, Cloudy.
Today, Harriet cornered me at the end of the alley again, demanding an answer. I told her I don't like her, that I only see her as a sister. My heart hurts so much. Mom, can you see this? Maybe I'll never be happy in this lifetime.]
[September 1st, Monday, Sunny.
It's been half a month since I rejected Harriet. Today I finally saw her again. She's lost a lot of weight, her eyes are swollen. She smiled and said it's okay, that we'll always be the closest people to each other. She said she'll find a man who looks just like me to marry. She said she'll never stop loving me.]
[December 31st, Saturday, Cloudy.
Today is the darkest day of my life. Two kids fell through the ice while playing, and I jumped in to save them. The river water was bone-chillingly cold. I thought I was going to die. I hadn't told Harriet I like her yet. I really wasn't ready to go. I didn't die—Harriet jumped in without hesitation to save me, even though she was on her period. Why is she so foolish?]
[January 3rd, Tuesday, Snow.
Harriet had a high fever for three days. Today it finally broke. But I overheard her grandmother saying that her body suffered irreversible damage from being in the ice water too long. I've wronged her. Mom, maybe my existence is just a burden to others. Maybe I shouldn't be alive. I wish so much she would stop loving me.]
Every single word seemed to transform into invisible knives, stabbing into Tristan's heart.
The pain nearly suffocated him.
So this was why Harriet couldn't keep the baby.
He thought that as long as they moved back to Cloud Bay, as long as he kept Griffin away, he and Harriet could be together properly and have their child.
Even if Harriet only saw him as a substitute, he was willing to accept it.
But it turned out, everything was just his fantasy.
Not only couldn't he have Harriet's heart, even their child couldn't be kept because of Griffin.
He had never hated Harriet as much as he did right now!
He hated her, hated Griffin, wanted to kill them both with his own hands!
Tristan swept the diary and all the files off his desk onto the floor!
His eyes were bloodshot, filled with intense murderous rage!
He pulled out his phone and made a call.
"Arrange a plane. I'm taking Harriet to my private island abroad for the pregnancy. Arrange the best medical team to deliver the baby right there on the island. Also, arrange security guards. Not even a fly is allowed to leave the island."
Tristan hung up and pulled out a cigarette to light.
Ian said giving birth to this child would damage Harriet's body.
By all rights, he really should give up the child to save Harriet.
But now Harriet was the one who wronged him. Why should he save her!
He would make her give birth to their child. As for whether she lived or died, that had nothing to do with him!
If Harriet really died, he'd be a good person to the end and send Griffin to the other world to keep her company!
In the master bedroom, Harriet woke up again.
Her chest felt terribly congested. She grabbed the oxygen canister and took a few breaths, which helped a little.
Harriet picked up her phone from the nightstand.
It was already past 2 AM, but Tristan still hadn't come back.
Harriet called him, but no one answered.
She had to call the driver and learned Tristan was at Apex Global Group.
"Mrs. Lancaster, I've been waiting here. Mr. Lancaster hasn't called me, so he must be working overtime."
"That's good. He didn't answer his phone, so I was a bit worried."
"Don't worry, Mrs. Lancaster. Mr. Lancaster will be fine."
"Okay."
Harriet hung up, got some water to drink, and sat propped up in bed playing on her phone.
Although the baby in her belly was still small, she couldn't help but start buying things for them.
Soft, cute little clothes and various daily necessities—she loved them all.
Harriet placed quite a few orders. Only when sleepiness hit did she put down her phone and go to sleep.
When Harriet woke up again, it was already light out.
She opened her eyes to see Tristan's handsome face.
"You're back?" Harriet yawned tiredly. "Why aren't you sleeping?"
The next second, Harriet smelled the heavy scent of smoke on him. "Why did you smoke so much? Didn't you say you were going to quit?"
"Get up." Tristan's voice was low and hoarse. "I'm taking you to the hospital for a checkup."
Harriet was curious. "But I don't need a checkup today."
"Your morning sickness is too severe. I found a specialist to come to Emberfall to examine you."
"Oh, I see. I'll get up and wash up then."
After washing up, Harriet came out. Since she needed to fast for the examination, she didn't eat breakfast.
Soon, Tristan came out of the guest bedroom, freshly showered and in clean clothes.
The two of them went out and got in the car.
As soon as Tristan got in the car, he leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed.
Harriet looked at him and couldn't help asking, "Tristan, what's wrong? Did something happen at Apex Global Group?"
"No." Tristan didn't open his eyes, just gave a flat response.
Harriet didn't press further.
Since she couldn't help, she decided not to keep asking.
Harriet continued, "Tristan, if Apex Global Group is busy, you should go to work. Rhea can take care of me at home, no problem."
She didn't want to see him taking care of her during the day and then working all night.
His body couldn't take it.
Tristan's voice remained cold. "Got it."
Harriet fell silent and stopped disturbing his rest.
Half an hour later, the Rolls-Royce arrived at the hospital.
Harriet was quickly led into the examination room by a nurse.
But as soon as she lay down, two nurses grabbed her hands and locked her wrists to the examination table with something like handcuffs.
Harriet was shocked. "What are you doing? I'm here for a checkup! Why are you tying me up!"
The nurses ignored her and continued to restrain her feet.
"Are you crazy?" Harriet completely panicked and immediately shouted, "Help! Tristan!"
The examination room door opened, and Tristan walked in with one hand in his pocket, followed by several female doctors in white coats.
Harriet breathed a sigh of relief. "Tristan, thank god you're here! They've gone crazy! They tied me up! Quick, make them let me go!"
Tristan walked to her side, looking down at her with an expressionless face.
"Harriet, I ordered them to do it." Tristan spoke in a deep voice. "I didn't bring you here today for a checkup, but for an abortion."
