Chapter 174 Lost and Found
Harriet was going crazy.
She had never been with another man, so she didn't know if everyone had the same level of control in bed as Tristan.
But every time, she would completely lose herself under his touch, sinking deeper and deeper.
And he only used his hands.
When it was over, Harriet's mind went blank, her whole body weak and powerless, only able to lean against him and catch her breath.
While pleasuring her, Tristan's body had long been tense. He could only suppress his desire and whisper slowly in her ear, "Mrs. Lancaster, don't forget what you just promised me - I can sleep in the room tonight."
Harriet's face turned so red it looked like blood could drip from it. She pulled the blanket over her head and ignored him.
Tristan laughed and held her, "We already have a child, what's there to be shy about?"
"Stop talking!"
In broad daylight, they were doing such things in the room - if word got out, people would laugh at them.
Tristan quietly held her, enjoying this moment of regained happiness.
That evening, the two of them went for a walk together, just like yesterday.
After returning, Tristan stayed in the room. Harriet didn't send him back to the RV.
She knew Tristan's bad habits well - if she didn't agree, what happened during the day would probably happen all over again.
After washing up, the two lay in bed. Tristan pressed his ear against Harriet's belly, listening carefully.
"We were so intense during the day, do you think the baby could sense it?"
Harriet: "The baby is probably not even as big as a soybean right now, how could there be any sensing?"
"Not necessarily." Tristan chuckled, "Maybe she can sense mom and dad's happiness."
Harriet almost rolled her eyes.
The two chatted for a while until Harriet got sleepy, then fell asleep in each other's arms.
Half a month passed in the blink of an eye. It was time for Harriet's prenatal checkup, and they had to return to Emberfall.
Harriet loved life here, away from all the chaos. She really didn't want to leave.
But this was a small town after all, with many inconveniences in daily life - it couldn't compare to Emberfall.
Tristan saw her reluctance and stroked her hair, saying, "After the baby is born, we'll come back and stay for a while."
"Okay."
At dusk, the plane landed in Emberfall.
Tristan had arranged everything in advance, and they went straight to the hospital for the checkup.
The results were all normal.
Harriet felt much more at ease and asked, "Doctor, my reaction to this pregnancy is quite different from last time. Not only is the morning sickness severe, but I also get dizzy often. What's going on?"
"Mrs. Lancaster, everyone's pregnancy reactions are different. Some people have discomfort throughout their entire pregnancy. I'm afraid you are one of those with more severe reactions," the doctor said respectfully. "We can only suggest you rest more, because there's no medication to treat morning sickness."
Harriet touched her still-flat belly, "As long as the baby is fine."
As long as the child was healthy, she would gladly endure any amount of discomfort.
After resting at home for two days, Harriet called Niamh to arrange dinner.
"How about tonight? My treat!" Niamh asked, "Are you free tonight?"
"I'm available."
"Great! See you tonight."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Harriet immediately called Tristan to ask if he wanted to come along.
"I'll pass. You two rarely see each other, have a good chat."
"Alright then, I'll come home right after dinner."
"Okay."
That evening, Harriet arrived at the restaurant on time.
Niamh had reserved a private room with a quiet atmosphere.
Harriet handed over a gift she had specially bought at the mall that afternoon, "Niamh, welcome to Emberfall. Just a small gift, please accept it."
Niamh was pleasantly surprised, "Harriet, you're too kind. I haven't even prepared a gift for the baby yet."
"You'll have plenty of chances, won't you?"
"True, there'll be lots of opportunities. Then I won't be shy about it."
"Good."
As they were talking, the door to the private room suddenly opened, and Griffin walked in wearing a casual suit.
"Griffin, come sit down, we've been waiting for you."
Harriet wasn't surprised that Griffin would come, and smiled at him.
Griffin quickly sat down, "Have you ordered? Order whatever you want, this meal's on me - consider it a welcome dinner for you."
"Then I won't hold back." Niamh handed the menu to Harriet. "Griffin's loaded now!"
Harriet smiled and ordered two dishes.
After they both finished ordering, Griffin added a few more dishes and also ordered a bottle of red wine.
"Niamh, welcome to Emberfall. When you have time, keep Harriet company more often."
"No problem!" Niamh said with a smile, "Mr. Lancaster brought me to Emberfall to keep Harriet company! Harriet, whenever you need me, I'm at your beck and call."
Harriet said seriously, "You need to have your own career plans. Put your own career first."
"I'm just average, how can I compare to you and Griffin? I'm happy being a working person." Niamh was very self-aware. "Come on, cheers!"
Harriet was drinking orange juice. The three of them clinked glasses.
Griffin took a sip of red wine and looked at Harriet, "Harriet, how have you been these past few days?"
"I'm doing well. I went back to my hometown, and my mood improved a lot."
"That's good."
The three of them chatted while eating, and the atmosphere was quite pleasant.
Taking advantage of Niamh going to the restroom, Harriet immediately asked, "Tristan told me before that he came to see you. Is that true?"
"Yes." Griffin took a sip of red wine. "You don't need to worry. Not only did he not make things difficult for me, he even canceled the pressure on the Lancaster Group. I can tell he did it to consider your feelings."
Harriet was stunned, "Really?"
"Would I lie about this?" Griffin smiled. "Getting Tristan to back down must be harder than climbing to heaven, right? Harriet, he cares about you and the child."
Harriet took a sip of orange juice and said nothing.
At eight in the evening, the three finally finished dinner and left.
Just as they walked out of the restaurant, the driver came up to them, "Mrs. Lancaster, I'm here to pick you up."
"Okay." Harriet said goodbye to the other two and left with the driver.
As soon as she got in the car, she saw Tristan sitting in the back seat, working on his laptop.
"Why did you come? Have you been here long?" Harriet asked.
"Mrs. Lancaster." The driver in the front seat reported, "Mr. Lancaster came here right after work and has been waiting. He hasn't even had dinner."
Harriet frowned, "Why didn't you call me? You could have come in and eaten together."
"I'm not hungry." Tristan smiled and stroked her hair. "Let's go home."
"Okay."
Rhea wasn't there that evening. As soon as Harriet got home, she went to the kitchen and made Tristan a bowl of noodles.
Tristan sat at the dining table, eating quietly.
"Tristan," Harriet looked at him, "let's move back to Cloud Bay."
Tristan paused, slowly looking up at her, "Why do you suddenly want to go back to Cloud Bay? Isn't it nice living here?"
"It is nice here, but it's fine for just the two of us. Once the baby is born, we'll definitely need to hire a nanny. You like quiet, so continuing to live here won't be suitable."
At Cloud Bay, other people could live on the first floor and wouldn't disturb him.
Most importantly, keeping some distance from Griffin would probably make him feel better.
Just like how she had kept her distance from Nolan back then.
Harriet didn't know if compromising again was the right thing to do, but since she had decided to keep this child, she had no choice but to compromise.
After all, Tristan would never allow her to run away with the child.
Tristan put down his knife and fork and held her hand, "Harriet, you're willing to forgive me, aren't you?"
Harriet nodded gently, "I don't want to bring up the past anymore. But Tristan, this is the last time."
"Okay."
The day Harriet moved back to Cloud Bay was a Sunday.
She took the pizza Rhea had made and went next door to give it to Griffin.
"Harriet." Griffin came to open the door. "Come in and sit."
"No, Rhea knew I liked the pizza from that place in Dewdrop Town, so she specially paid to learn how to make it. It tastes very similar, try it."
Griffin took it, "Thank you."
"I'm moving back to Cloud Bay today. If you need anything in the future, just call me."
"Moving there is good too. I heard Cloud Bay has a great environment, suitable for your pregnancy."
"Yes."
"Harriet." Griffin looked at her. "Take care of yourself."
"You too."
That afternoon, Tristan took Harriet back to Cloud Bay.
Though they hadn't been back in a while, Harriet still felt very familiar with it.
This was her and Tristan's first home, and it would be where they would welcome their child.
Rhea had already cleaned the house spotlessly in advance. After having some afternoon tea, Harriet went back to the room to rest.
Tristan didn't go to work and stayed home to keep her company.
He pressed his ear against Harriet's belly, listening carefully.
Naturally, he couldn't hear anything.
"Harriet, do you prefer a boy or a girl?"
"I like either. What about you?"
Tristan thought seriously and said, "A girl, well-behaved like you."
Harriet couldn't help but smile slightly, "A boy would be good too. Later we can give him a little sister, and then the sister will have a brother to protect her."
Tristan looked up, a smile spreading in his deep eyes.
Only then did Harriet realize what she had said, and her face suddenly turned red.
"What I meant was..."
Just as she was about to explain, he kissed her lips.
