Chapter 167 Pregnant, Right
Harriet turned to look at Griffin, whose face was full of concern. "I suddenly feel a bit short of breath."
"I'll take you to the hospital!"
"No need, I'll be fine after resting a bit."
Harriet went to sit down on a nearby sofa.
Griffin poured her a glass of warm water. "Have some water."
"Thanks."
Harriet drank half the glass and leaned back on the sofa to rest. The discomfort gradually faded away.
"Harriet, are you overdoing it?" Griffin frowned. "You should still go to the hospital to see a doctor. Otherwise, I won't feel at ease."
"I'm fine now," Harriet said. "Maybe it's just low blood sugar."
"Let me take you back to the hotel to rest."
"Okay."
As soon as they got back to the hotel, the food delivery arrived.
Griffin had bought her some chocolate. "Have a piece."
"Okay."
Harriet nibbled on the chocolate and asked, "Why did you come looking for me?"
"You're out here alone, I was a bit worried, so I thought I'd come pick you up." Griffin looked at her. "Harriet, don't push yourself when you're not feeling well. The clinic can function just fine without you."
"I know." Harriet smiled. "I'm really fine. If it happens again, I'll go to the hospital for a checkup."
"Okay."
"It's getting late, you should go back and rest."
"I'll come pick you up tomorrow for the reunion."
"No need, I'm meeting my old desk mate tomorrow to go shopping and have dinner."
"That's good. Have fun."
"Okay."
The next morning.
When Harriet woke up, she didn't feel any discomfort, so she went to her appointment on time.
Her high school desk mate was named Niamh Reynolds, and she had a very straightforward personality.
Harriet had been the school beauty in high school and received many love letters every day. Most girls didn't like hanging out with her because anyone standing next to her would pale in comparison.
Only Niamh was different. She had short hair in school and would walk around campus with her arm around Harriet's shoulders. Several times people mistook her for Harriet's boyfriend.
Harriet hadn't seen her in years, only keeping in touch through WhatsApp.
As soon as she arrived at the agreed-upon coffee shop, Harriet recognized her right away.
"Niamh!"
"Harriet!"
The two hugged excitedly.
Across the street in a car, a bodyguard clearly captured through his camera lens Harriet hugging a short-haired man.
He quickly took out his phone and made a call.
"This is bad! Mr. Scott, this is really bad! Mrs. Lancaster is meeting with a man! They're hugging!"
Ryder's temples throbbed. "Is it Griffin?"
"No, it's not Griffin, it's another man!"
Harriet had no idea she was being photographed and sat down at the table. "Niamh, why is your hair getting shorter and shorter?"
Niamh's hair couldn't be any shorter, and her style was androgynous. At first glance, she looked like a man.
"It's easier to wash. Not like you guys—washing your hair is a hassle, and blow-drying it is even worse." Niamh casually ran her hand through her hair. "How about it? Don't I look handsome?"
"Super handsome! If you were a guy, I would've fallen for you ages ago!"
"If the school beauty fell for me, that means I really am handsome!" Niamh looked at her. "Harriet, you're getting more and more beautiful. No wonder none of the school beauties after we graduated could compare to you."
Harriet: "That's not true."
"It is! The school beauties from the later years were just ordinary beauties. Only your status remains unshaken. Maplewood High School still talks about your legend to this day."
"Stop teasing me. How have you been lately..."
They spent the whole day drinking coffee, shopping, and watching the latest movie. It wasn't until after dinner that they went to the class reunion.
The reunion was held in a large private room at a KTV, with thirty or forty people there.
When they arrived, Griffin was already there.
Harriet's appearance caused another stir.
She greeted everyone one by one before Niamh pulled her to sit next to Griffin.
Niamh extended her hand openly. "Hello Griffin, I'm Harriet's desk mate, Niamh."
Griffin shook her hand. "Hello, Niamh."
Niamh was flattered. "You know me?"
"Harriet mentioned you."
"Harriet?" Niamh's eyes moved suggestively between the two of them, looking like she understood something.
"Don't get the wrong idea." Harriet lowered her voice. "Griffin is just my friend."
"Really?"
"Of course."
Harriet hadn't had time to tell Niamh about her marriage yet, and now there was even less time.
Soon a man came over to toast. "Harriet, you're several years younger than us, but I've heard of you. After all, Maplewood High School only produced two good-looking academic stars—one is Griffin, and the other is you."
Harriet picked up her juice glass and clinked it with his. "You're too kind."
Many women also gathered around Griffin to drink with him.
Niamh sighed. "This world that values looks so much is way too realistic."
Even though she wasn't drinking alcohol, Harriet's stomach quickly became bloated from all the beverages.
She got up to go to the restroom, and Niamh immediately followed.
"Harriet, I'll come with you!"
The two went to the restroom hand in hand, just like in their school days.
Harriet came out of the stall and stood at the sink washing her hands.
Suddenly, her stomach churned violently, making her lean over and dry heave.
"Harriet, what's wrong?" Niamh quickly stepped forward and patted her back gently. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"Did you eat something bad?" Niamh was a bit anxious. "But we've been together all day, and we ate the same things."
She suddenly realized something. "You're not pregnant, are you!"
Harriet froze.
"You really are?" Niamh looked at her reaction and said excitedly, "Is it Griffin's baby! Oh my god, if you two had a child, imagine how smart and good-looking they'd be!"
"Don't talk nonsense." Harriet explained, "He and I don't have that kind of relationship."
"Then with your reaction just now, I really thought you were pregnant."
Harriet's mind was in chaos. She wiped her mouth with a tissue and said, "Let's go say goodbye. I want to leave early."
She needed to buy a pregnancy test right away.
"Okay, let's go."
The two walked out of the restroom.
Niamh supported Harriet with one hand while gently rubbing her back with the other. "Are you feeling better?"
"Much better."
Before they reached the private room door, they saw a tall, upright figure walking toward them.
Harriet stopped in her tracks.
Niamh exclaimed, "What a perfect man!"
Tristan's deep, cold eyes looked at Niamh's hand holding Harriet's arm.
He could confirm this was the person in the photo, the one who had spent the whole day with Harriet.
In the photo, it was hard to tell if they were male or female, but at first glance, they looked like a man.
Now, at this close distance, he could confirm this was a woman.
Still, Tristan spoke coldly, "Let go of her."
Niamh instinctively looked around. There were only the two of them here.
"Harriet, is... is he talking to me?"
Harriet composed herself and took Niamh's hand. "Let's go."
The moment they brushed past him, Tristan suddenly grabbed Harriet's arm.
