Chapter 162 Trying to Seduce Me
Nolan spoke frankly, "Simply because I like Harriet."
Griffin smirked, "But she doesn't like you."
"That doesn't mean I'll allow others to hurt her at will." Nolan's expression remained unchanged. "So you'd better give up on that idea. Forget about getting past Tristan—you won't even get past me."
"I've never thought about hurting Harriet."
"Really?" Nolan smiled. "You went after Lark, and on the surface it looked like you were standing up for Harriet, but at the same time you stirred up conflict between Harriet and Tristan, leading to their divorce. You don't think that's hurting her?"
"At least I stood up for her. What has Tristan been doing?" Griffin swirled the wine in his glass. "He's been hurting her all along, and even now, he's still protecting Lark."
"Do you really not know how much Harriet loves Tristan?" Nolan emphasized. "Her greatest wish is to have a good life with Tristan. If you truly care about her as a friend or family, you should help make that happen."
Griffin raised an eyebrow. "So you choose to help make it happen?"
"She doesn't have romantic feelings for me." Nolan stated honestly. "I have no other choice."
"Mr. Johnson is very noble, but haven't you considered that helping them is like pushing her into a pit of fire?"
Nolan was taken aback. "I honestly haven't thought of it that way. Harriet is actually someone with strong opinions. She knows very clearly what she wants."
"She does have her own opinions, but she lacks experience. I don't want her trapped in the cage that is Tristan." Griffin drained his wine glass. "But there's one thing you can rest assured about—I won't hurt Harriet. And please don't interfere with my affairs. After all, between having one more enemy and one more friend, I believe Mr. Johnson would choose the latter."
Nolan nodded. "I would indeed choose one more friend, but on the condition that you keep your word and absolutely don't hurt Harriet."
Griffin turned back toward the floor-to-ceiling window, and a barely noticeable flash of pain crossed his deep eyes. "If I could, I'd rather hurt myself than hurt her."
On a sunny afternoon, Lark took a speedboat out to sea and boarded a luxury yacht.
She walked onto the deck in high heels and saw an elegant figure fishing with a rod.
A gleam flashed in Lark's eyes.
Who would have thought that an illegitimate son could openly return to the Lancaster family and inherit 20% of the Lancaster Group's shares, becoming one of Emberfall's new elite overnight?
Although Griffin couldn't compare to Tristan, if she could latch onto Griffin, she wouldn't have to worry about the rest of her life.
With this thought, Lark put on her most beautiful smile and walked toward him with swaying steps.
"Does Mr. Wallace enjoy fishing?"
"Yes, I like the feeling of quietly waiting for fish to take the bait."
"I like fishing too." Lark moved closer to him. "Next time Mr. Wallace can invite me along. I'll keep you company."
Griffin smiled. "You're under Tristan's protection now. Instead of trying to please him, you have time to go fishing with me?"
Just thinking about it made Lark angry. "Tristan did pay a high price to bring over my medical team to treat me, but he still refuses to see me. I've been to Apex Global Group several times and been turned away at the door every time."
"That's only natural." Griffin said with a light smile. "He's protecting you to oppose me, not because he actually cares about you. Tristan has high standards. A second-hand woman like you—he'd probably find you too dirty even to carry his shoes."
Lark's expression changed.
She complained pitifully, "Mr. Wallace, how can you slander me like this!"
"I'm just telling the truth. If you still can't see your own situation clearly by now, you deserve to have no way out."
"I know." Lark looked at Griffin tenderly. "If it weren't for Mr. Wallace deliberately targeting me, I wouldn't have known Tristan would still protect me. I heard Harriet is already filing for divorce. What should I do next? Please tell me clearly, Mr. Wallace."
Griffin turned to look at her. "You're willing to listen to everything I say?"
Griffin was wearing sunglasses, so Lark couldn't see the emotion in his eyes.
But he was different from Tristan. His face always carried a warm, gentle smile, like the sunshine at this moment, making people feel incredibly comfortable.
Lark boldly wrapped her hands around Griffin's arm, her eyes seductive. "I'm willing. Whatever Mr. Wallace asks me to do, I'm willing."
There was movement in the water. Griffin turned his head, and a big fish surfaced with the fishing rod.
"Got one!" Lark called out excitedly, looking at him with admiration. "Mr. Wallace is amazing!"
No man could resist a woman's admiring gaze.
If she could get into Griffin's bed, even if it wasn't openly, even if he kept her as a secret mistress, she could still live well!
Griffin tossed the fish into the bucket beside him, wiped his hands, and removed his sunglasses.
Lark couldn't help but stare.
He was just as stunningly handsome as Tristan, and gentler than Tristan. He must know how to cherish a woman.
Lark couldn't contain her infatuation. "Mr. Wallace, it's so hot here. Let's go inside and talk."
Griffin smiled. "You want to seduce me?"
Lark hadn't expected him to be so direct. She decided to stop pretending and boldly wrapped her arms around his neck, standing on tiptoe to kiss his handsome face. "Mr. Wallace, I've actually admired you for a long time. Take me inside, and I'll give you a different experience. I'll definitely satisfy you."
Griffin chuckled softly. "But I prefer to handle things right here."
Lark felt a surge of joy.
She knew no man could escape her seduction.
Today she would definitely make Griffin fall for her body!
Lark said coquettishly, "You're so naughty. In broad daylight, having sex outdoors. But if Mr. Wallace likes it, we can do it right here."
"Sounds good."
Just as Lark was about to undress him, the next second, a sharp pain spread from her abdomen, instantly engulfing her entire body!
Lark slowly looked down and saw a fruit knife embedded in her stomach, bright red blood flowing out along her white dress.
Lark's eyes widened as she looked at Griffin in disbelief.
Griffin's handsome face still wore a gentle smile, as if he wasn't the one who had stabbed her.
In that instant, Lark finally saw clearly the sinister look in his eyes that clashed with his smile.
He looked at her as if she were already dead.
Lark's carefully made-up face turned white inch by inch. "Why... why..."
"You not only made Harriet spend a year in prison, but you also tried to kill her again and again. You're beyond redemption."
Griffin's voice remained as soothing as a hot spring, as if he were simply commenting on the nice weather. "Lark, waiting until now to kill you is really letting you off easy. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you—the woman in Owen's bed the night you miscarried, I arranged that. I also sent the anonymous text telling you to go to Opulence Club. Because only after you completely fell out with Owen could I conveniently kill you."
Lark trembled all over from the pain. "You... you're terrifying..."
He was just as terrifying as Tristan!
Griffin smiled. "Since you like fishing, you can rest forever in this sea."
The next second, Griffin pushed her into the ocean.
Griffin took out a handkerchief from his pocket and carefully wiped clean the cheek she had just touched, then tossed the handkerchief into the sea before turning and walking away on his long legs.
Tristan received the news two days later.
"Mr. Lancaster, Lark has disappeared."
Tristan had been in an extremely bad mood these past few days, and Ryder was suffering for it, but this matter had to be reported.
Tristan was leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed, resting. Hearing this, he asked calmly, "What do you mean she disappeared?"
"Two days ago, Lark rented a speedboat by the sea and went out. She never came back. Opal has been looking for her but hasn't found any leads. With nowhere else to turn, she's reported it to the police."
"The police found the speedboat in international waters, but Lark wasn't on it. I'm afraid something happened to her."
Tristan slowly opened his eyes. "Griffin did it?"
