Chapter 114 He Is in My Heart
When Harriet woke up, it was already the next morning.
She opened her eyes and saw Tristan's incredibly handsome face.
Tristan was asleep, leaning against the single sofa beside the hospital bed, one hand still tightly holding hers.
Harriet gently pulled her hand away, and the next second, Tristan woke up with a start. "Harriet!"
Harriet's eyes couldn't help but well up.
"You're awake?" Tristan asked. "Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Harriet shook her head gently. "I'm much better."
"The doctor said the injury on your hand isn't serious, just try not to get it wet for the next few days."
"Okay." Harriet sat up. "How did you find me?"
"The moment your phone was turned on, Ryder detected it. We rushed over following the location, but you were already gone. Although that man was knocked out, your medical kit and phone were both at the scene, so I knew you weren't out of danger yet."
"I searched the unconscious man and found his phone wasn't on him. No normal person would be without their phone, so I immediately had Ryder track his phone's location."
Harriet nodded. "That man was acting on someone's orders, so I took his phone, originally wanting to see who was behind it all, but then I was attacked again."
"The situation was urgent. Before I passed out, I put his phone on silent and secretly slipped it into my own pocket, hoping that when the police arrived they could use this clue to find me. I didn't expect you to find me first."
"Harriet, thank god you're smart. Without that phone, I never would have found you so quickly."
"What happened to those two men?"
"The one you injured is fine. The other one I shot dead."
Harriet felt nothing inside.
When she talked so much with Beau, it was partly to buy time, hoping the police would arrive quickly, and partly because she genuinely wanted to persuade him to turn back.
But in the end, Beau still decided to attack her.
And planned to kill her first, then rape her.
She can't show mercy to that kind of evil person.
"Thank you for saving me."
Tristan looked at her. "Now tell me first, the day Grandma fainted, my dad came to see you. What did he say to you?"
Harriet froze, then denied it. "He didn't come to see me. You know we're just acquaintances, we don't have any real connection."
"Still lying to me?" Tristan frowned slightly. "Harriet, tell me the truth."
Harriet insisted, "Really, he didn't."
"Iris told me that my dad came to see you, and you still dare to deny it?" Tristan was extremely frustrated, resisting the urge to smoke. "If I'm not wrong, he forced you to divorce me, right? You don't have many relatives, but because of that, your uncle became your biggest weakness."
Harriet didn't expect him to guess so quickly. At this point, denying it was useless. She lowered her eyes and apologized softly, "I'm sorry."
"Besides apologizing, don't you have anything else to say?" Tristan looked at her, a hint of expectation flashing in his deep eyes. "Don't you regret asking me for a divorce?"
Harriet's voice was very soft. "I had no choice, did I?"
"What do you mean you had no choice? Did you even try to choose?" Tristan's anger flared up instantly. "My dad came to you, forced you to divorce, did you discuss any solutions with me? You directly chose to give up on me to protect your family!"
"Harriet, even if you had your reasons, even if you divorced me not because I couldn't give you children, I'm still the one you gave up without hesitation."
He said through gritted teeth, "No matter what the reason, giving up is giving up!"
Harriet looked up at him, opened her mouth, but in the end still said that same apology.
"I'm sorry."
Their ending was already decided. There was no point in getting entangled anymore.
"I don't want to hear you say sorry!" Tristan suddenly stood up. "Harriet, you keep saying you love me, but I don't feel it at all. You love yourself more, you love your family more. I'm last in your heart. Whenever something happens, I'm the one you'll abandon without hesitation."
Harriet's hand clutched the blanket tightly, too upset to speak.
Tristan's handsome face was tense, gloomy enough to drip water. "Fine, you're basically admitting what I said is true! Harriet, from now on, you better not appear in front of me!"
Harriet suddenly looked up and saw Tristan turn and leave.
She really wanted to chase after him, but she couldn't.
He had already held a wedding with Lark. Once she got out of the hospital and finalized the divorce, he and Lark would get their marriage certificate.
She couldn't bring herself to interfere in someone else's relationship.
The door was slammed shut by Tristan with a loud bang.
Harriet lowered her eyes, staring blankly at some empty space.
The hospital room door was suddenly knocked on, and Ian walked in. "Harriet, get up and eat something."
"Thank you, Mr. Jones." While eating, Harriet asked, "When I was missing, you must have been really worried, right?"
"I was careless. If only I had noticed something was wrong earlier."
"I didn't expect anyone would kidnap me either, but that taxi driver was acting on orders. The real person who wanted to kidnap me was the mastermind behind him."
"Who?"
"I don't know either." Harriet suddenly remembered, "By the way, where are my things?"
"Here." Ian opened the drawer. Inside was a phone—Jace's phone.
Harriet picked up the phone. Unlocking it required a fingerprint or password.
"Looks like we need Ryder's help."
"Ryder's at the hospital. I'll call him right now."
After Ian's phone call, Ryder arrived within minutes. "Mrs. Lancaster, Mr. Jones."
"Ryder, can you help unlock this phone?"
"Piece of cake." Ryder took the phone. "But it'll take a bit later. I need tools to unlock it."
"Okay." Harriet asked, "Tristan already left, why are you still at the hospital?"
"Mrs. Gemma Lancaster is hospitalized. I'm checking on her for Mr. Lancaster."
"Mom... Mrs. Gemma Lancaster is hospitalized? I examined her before, her health was fine."
Ryder was surprised. "Mrs. Lancaster, you don't know what happened last night?"
"What else happened last night?"
"Mr. Tristan Lancaster called off the wedding on the spot and released a video of Mr. Owen Lancaster having sex with Lark, so Mrs. Gemma Lancaster fainted from anger and was hospitalized."
"What did you say?" Harriet couldn't quite process it. "You mean Lark had sex with Mr. Owen Lancaster, and Tristan didn't marry her?"
"Of course. Mr. Tristan Lancaster never agreed to marry Lark from the beginning. Mr. Owen Lancaster thought he could control Mr. Tristan Lancaster, so he arranged this wedding, but when has Mr. Tristan Lancaster ever been controlled by anyone? Even Mr. Owen Lancaster can't do it."
Ryder said proudly, "Mr. Tristan Lancaster gave up his position as heir to the Lancaster family on the spot and broke off with Mr. Owen Lancaster. Mrs. Lancaster, you didn't see the scene. Mr. Tristan Lancaster was so cool!"
Harriet's mind was a bit confused.
Ryder said, "Mrs. Lancaster, you have feelings for Mr. Tristan Lancaster, right?"
Harriet didn't speak.
"Mrs. Lancaster, since you both have feelings for each other, why make things so unpleasant? You don't know how much Mr. Tristan Lancaster cares about you. That night when he heard you were taken away by Nolan, he was so anxious his hand got cut by glass."
Ryder touched his nose. This shouldn't count as lying, right?
Tristan's hand was indeed injured because of Harriet.
Even though it was because he crushed a wine glass in anger.
Harriet was slightly stunned.
She had indeed seen that Tristan's palm was wrapped in gauze, but didn't know how he got injured.
"And last night, when Mr. Lancaster heard from Mr. Jones that something happened to you, he rushed to find you immediately. He was the one who discovered the clues and rescued you in time, and he watched over you all night."
Ryder continued, "Not to mention the time he blocked the knife for you. I've been by Mr. Lancaster's side for so many years, and I've never seen him risk his life like this for anyone."
"Mrs. Lancaster, Mr. Lancaster has now broken with the Lancaster family and has nothing left. Are you really going to abandon him too?"
Harriet could no longer control the waves rising in her heart. She threw off the blanket and got out of bed.
"Harriet, where are you going?"
"I need to find him!"
