Chapter 110: The Wedding of the Century
Lark specifically went to beg Owen to bring Opal back from prison to attend her wedding.
To get Owen to agree, Lark put in a lot of effort in bed and finally managed to please him. On the wedding day, she got to see Opal.
"Lark." The moment Opal saw Lark, she broke down crying, "I missed you so much."
"Mom, I missed you too." Lark looked at the two prison guards nearby and ordered, "You two, get out. I want to talk to my mom alone."
The guards responded matter-of-factly, "The prisoner cannot leave our sight."
"What kind of attitude is this!" Lark said angrily, "I'm Mrs. Lancaster. Do you really think I'd let her escape!"
"No matter who you are, you must follow our rules, or we have the right to take her back to prison immediately."
Lark was so angry she could explode, "Just you wait, I'm definitely going to file a complaint against you!"
"Lark, you look so beautiful today." Opal cupped Lark's face, "You've finally made it through the hard times and married Tristan. I'm so happy."
Lark's wedding dress was haute couture from a major brand, and the crown on her head was worth a fortune.
The only regret was that she couldn't stand up to complete the wedding ceremony.
After all, if her legs suddenly healed, Tristan would definitely get suspicious.
"Mom, how are you doing in prison?"
Opal shook her head crying, "Not good. Those dark days, I really can't take it anymore, Lark. Please beg Tristan to find a way to get me out!"
Lark lowered her voice, "Mom, don't worry, I'll definitely find a way."
"Good, good!" Opal was thrilled.
The huge, luxurious banquet hall was decorated beautifully, like a fairy tale world.
Lark had invited all of Emberfall's high society. The guests were all wealthy and influential, toasting and chatting, very lively.
"What's going on?" a guest asked curiously, "Mrs. Haven Lancaster isn't here, and even the groom isn't here. How can they have a wedding?"
"You don't know yet? Mrs. Haven Lancaster doesn't approve of this marriage at all, so she refused to attend. As for Mr. Tristan Lancaster, I heard Mr. Owen Lancaster stripped him of all his positions. He's basically powerless now."
"What do you mean? Is this wedding forcibly arranged by Mr. Owen Lancaster? Is Mr. Tristan Lancaster being forced to marry?"
"Who knows."
Not far away, Flora took a sip of champagne, a faint smile on her face.
"Mrs. Coleman." Nolan walked up beside her, "Actually, Harriet doesn't need you to do these things for her."
"I know, but you don't know how Lark has been bad-mouthing Harriet behind her back, even making up rumors that she's living with you! Of course I had to step up and fight back for Harriet." Flora snorted coldly.
"Mrs. Coleman is truly loyal."
"Harriet not only saved my life but also treats me like family. She stayed with me during my lowest point. She deserves it."
"She really is wonderful."
Flora looked at him suspiciously, "Does Mr. Johnson like Harriet?"
Nolan didn't confirm or deny, "Like Mrs. Coleman said, she's so wonderful. I think anyone who knows her even a little would find it hard not to like her."
Flora nodded, "She's getting completely divorced from Tristan tomorrow. If you're sincere about her, you could try pursuing her."
"That depends on Harriet's wishes." Nolan took a sip of his drink, "If she's not willing, I definitely won't cause her any trouble."
Flora looked approving, "Mr. Johnson is very gentlemanly. Perhaps you're more suitable for Harriet."
The time was approaching, but Tristan still hadn't appeared.
Lark was getting anxious and found Owen, "Mr. Lancaster, why isn't Tristan here yet?"
In bed they were passionate lovers, but in public they disguised it very well.
"Don't worry." Owen looked at Gemma in her custom wheelchair not far away, "He'll come."
As soon as he finished speaking, there was a commotion at the entrance.
Owen narrowed his eyes and looked over to see Tristan walking in with one hand in his pocket.
Normally, guests would rush forward to chat and network with him, like stars surrounding the moon.
But today, not a single person went up to talk to Tristan.
Owen's lips curved into a smile.
The fact that he had stripped Tristan of his power wasn't a secret in this circle, because he had deliberately spread it.
First, to let everyone know who really ran the Lancaster Group.
Second, to let Tristan know that without the Lancaster family, he was nothing.
But even so, Tristan's powerful aura hadn't diminished at all.
He walked in alone, but with such strong presence that he immediately became the center of attention.
Lark was overjoyed. Tristan had come, and her dream was about to come true.
This most powerful man in all of Emberfall would soon become her husband.
Lark quickly maneuvered her wheelchair forward, "Tristan, you're finally here. Go to the lounge and change. I've prepared everything for you."
Tristan looked at her expressionlessly, "Have I not told you that I won't marry you? Insisting on holding this wedding, the one who'll be embarrassed is you."
Lark's heart sank, and she quickly said, "Tristan, Mr. Owen Lancaster decided this. How could I object?"
Tristan smiled, the smile stopping at the corners of his eyes, "Are you sure you objected?"
To please him, Lark nodded, "I know you're not willing. Of course I objected, but Mr. Owen Lancaster yelled at me. He said even you don't have a choice, let alone me."
"Tristan, let's get married first to appease Mr. Owen Lancaster. If you really don't want to live with me, we can divorce later."
Tristan laughed coldly, "Are you sure you'll be willing to divorce then?"
Lark looked wronged, "Tristan, how can you say that about me?"
"Tristan, Why aren't you changing clothes yet? What are you doing here?"
Owen walked over with Gemma by his side.
Tristan turned to look at him, "Are you sure you want me to go through with this wedding today?"
"All the guests are here. How could it be fake?" Owen urged, "Time's almost up. Go get ready. If you really don't want to socialize, you can leave after the ceremony."
Lark wasn't happy but held back from objecting.
Just as Tristan was about to speak, Ian suddenly rushed over, "Mrs. Gemma Lancaster, may I have a word?"
"Mr. Jones looks rushed. Is something wrong?" Gemma asked.
"Yes, something about Harriet."
Tristan frowned, "What happened to Harriet?"
Seeing all the guests looking curious, Ian said, "Can we talk privately?"
Everyone went to the lounge, away from the guests outside. Only then did Ian speak, "Here's what happened. After work yesterday, Harriet was taken away by Mrs. Gemma Lancaster's people. She didn't come to work today. I thought she was in a bad mood and resting at home."
"It's my fault for being careless and not calling her right away. Near the end of the workday, I called to ask her to dinner, but her phone was off. I went to her house, but she wasn't there."
"People sometimes want to be alone when they're in a bad mood." Uma said, "It's normal not to find her for a while."
"Harriet is a very responsible person. She wouldn't turn off her phone for no reason, in case her patients need to reach her." Ian said anxiously, "And she knows I'd worry. She wouldn't make it impossible for me to find her. So something must have happened to her!"
Tristan immediately looked at Gemma, "Where is Harriet?"
