Chapter 102: Enjoy It Thoroughly
Harriet refused directly, "I'm busy."
"Harriet, I'm marrying Tristan. Are you upset?"
Harriet wasn't going to bother with Lark and was about to hang up when the other person, as if guessing what she was about to do, hurriedly said, "Don't hang up yet. I'm doing this for your own good. If Mr. James finds out you're being emotional and not willingly getting divorced, he'll definitely be angry."
Harriet frowned slightly, "Are you threatening me?"
"I told you, I'm doing this for your good. Just come and show your face, let Mr. James know you're blessing Tristan and me. It's good for everyone."
"Fine." Harriet agreed, "Send me the address. I'll go."
"Great! Tonight at seven, Opulence Club. I'll wait for you."
Harriet hung up directly.
Lark definitely had bad intentions, and Harriet guessed tonight's banquet wasn't just about showing off.
Since Lark insisted she come, she'd certainly oblige.
At seven that evening, Harriet arrived at Opulence Club on time.
The private room was lively and bustling.
Many people were drawn to Harriet's beauty and couldn't help but look at her a few more times.
"Harriet, you're here." Lark wheeled over to her, "Welcome."
"Congrats on getting what you wanted. Wish you a happy marriage and a baby soon." Harriet said perfunctorily, "Can I leave now?"
"You just got here, what's the rush?" Lark tried to grab her hand, but Harriet dodged.
Lark wasn't embarrassed and smiled brightly, "Harriet, we've known each other for so many years. Whatever happened in the past, let's just let it go, okay?"
Lark snapped her fingers, and a server quickly brought over red wine.
Lark took two glasses and handed one to Harriet, "Let's drink to becoming good friends."
Harriet looked at her unnaturally.
Good friends?Did Lark think she had amnesia or lost her mind?
Seeing her not taking it, Lark raised her voice, looking hurt, "Harriet, as Mr. Jones's final and most important disciple, surely you have some grace?"
Many people present heard Ian's name and couldn't help but look over.
When Iantook on disciples, the Lancaster family held a grand banquet, but Lark's circle didn't overlap much with the Lancaster family's. Many people here today weren't qualified to receive the Lancaster family's invitation, so hearing Lark's words, they all wanted to see who Ian's final and most important disciple was.
Harriet smiled. Lark was indeed clever, bringing up Ian.
In this situation, she had to consider Ian's reputation and couldn't be petty.
Harriet took the wine Lark handed her, clinked glasses with her, brought it to her nose to smell, but didn't drink.
"What's wrong?" Lark asked curiously, "Harriet, why aren't you drinking?"
Harriet looked at her with a smile.
Lark continued talking, "You don't suspect I put something in the wine, do you? Harriet, this is my event. How could I do such a thing? Plus, I said we're good friends now."
Harriet raised an eyebrow, "Since we're good friends and you didn't put anything in the wine, let's switch glasses."
Lark froze, then quickly complained in a hurt tone, "Harriet, if you want to switch, it means you don't trust me!"
"I just don't trust you." Harriet tilted her head, "Why, are you feeling guilty?"
Lark said righteously, "How could I possibly feel guilty? Since you don't trust me, I'll switch with you!"
The two exchanged glasses. Lark drank the wine in one gulp, "There, can you trust me now?"
Harriet smiled and also drank her glass.
A glint flashed in Lark's eyes.
"I drank the wine. Once again, happy marriage. Goodbye."
Harriet turned to leave.
Lark didn't stop her but followed unhurriedly.
Sure enough, before Harriet reached the elevator, her legs gave way and she could only lean against the wall to barely stand.
Lark almost laughed out loud and approached with fake concern, "Harriet, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Harriet suddenly realized, "You... you still drugged me..."
"You're drunk. It's not safe to go home alone." Lark snapped her fingers, and a server immediately came out from the corner.
"Harriet, I'll have someone take you to a room to rest. You can leave after you sober up."
The server immediately helped Harriet into the elevator, and the three of them went upstairs together.
Harriet tried to resist but was too weak to struggle.
Harriet thought Lark wanted this server to ruin her reputation, but unexpectedly, after helping her onto the bed, the server left directly.
Only then did Lark drop her disguise, "Harriet, do you know how much you love being too clever? You thought switching glasses would solve the problem, right? But what you didn't expect was that I drugged both glasses and took the antidote beforehand. So no matter which glass you drank today, you'd be drugged!"
Lark's face was full of triumphant smiles, "After a year in prison, you did get smarter and more cautious, but unfortunately, not enough."
Harriet lay weakly on the bed, "What... what do you want?"
"Don't rush." Lark took out an aromatherapy diffuser and lit it, "Smell this. It's a gift I specially prepared for you. Since you can't live without men and desperately want a child, I found you a charming man to have a baby with. Maybe after tonight, you'll become a mother."
"Lark, you're shameless!"
"You're the shameless one!" Lark glared at her hatefully, "Look at yourself in the mirror—what are you? How dare you keep seducing my Tristan! You're not just shameless, you're cheap! Even doing it with him in a restaurant!"
Harriet said weakly, "Tristan and I are already divorced. You're about to marry him. Why won't you let me go!"
"Because you look like a vixen seducing him!" Lark gritted her teeth angrily, "I must find a way to make him completely disgusted with you!"
Harriet cried out in despair, "Over a year ago, you framed me for pushing you down the stairs and I spent a year in prison. Isn't that enough? Why are you so cruel to me!"
"Harriet, what are you talking about? When did I frame you?" Lark looked innocent and went forward to search her pockets for something.
"What are you doing?" Harriet said anxiously, "Don't touch me!"
Lark quickly found a recording pen in working mode in her pants pocket.
Lark turned off the recorder and laughed triumphantly, "Harriet, I knew you were scheming. So you were trying to get me to confess?"
Harriet closed her eyes in despair.
Lark put away the recorder, "Harriet, give up. You can't beat me."
Harriet cried and begged, "Please let me go. If I sleep with a stranger, how can I face anyone..."
"But that's exactly what I want—for you to have no way to face anyone." Lark shrugged, "Not only will Tristan despise you, even Nolan—you won't be able to reach him... Harriet, someone like you only deserves to live at the bottom!"
Lark took a deep breath, "Harriet, do you smell the fragrance? I specially added something to the aromatherapy for you two... Enjoy yourself. This man tonight is very skilled, and with this aromatherapy, you'll definitely feel good..."
