Chapter 305 Fortunately, You Never Gave Up
Chapter 305 Fortunately, You Never Gave Up
Ambrose still refused to agree. In his eyes, Ulysses was a bomb, and if Scarlett wasn't careful, she could get hurt. He didn't want to see her get hurt at all.
Scarlett didn't want them to disagree on this matter, so she kept coaxing him, kissing him from time to time.
"Ambrose, we have such a good opportunity, why not use it? I think this chance is rare, and it could solve everything once and for all."
He was silent for a moment, then took a step back.
"Let me contact him instead."
Scarlett thought this could work too, but she wasn't sure if Ulysses would be willing to talk to Ambrose.
If he was willing, it would be even better to get the evidence without her involvement. After all, whenever she saw Ulysses, the shadow in her heart made her uneasy.
She nodded and let Ambrose try.
Speaking of Ulysses reminded Scarlett of Xander. She looked at him.
"Before, when Ulysses tried to hurt me, I would suddenly get rescued. That was because you planted Xander there, right?"
His hand brushed her waist as he gave a soft reply.
She had been through enough shocks lately, so she remained calm now. She just cupped his face with her hands and asked softly.
"You started thinking about taking me away from that night at the hotel, didn't you?"
His deep, dark eyes could draw her in. "Even if you hadn't come to the hotel with me that night, I still wouldn't have let go, because you weren't happy. If you had been doing well, I might not have bothered you, might not have even come back to the country."
Although Scarlett knew why Ambrose had suddenly returned, hearing him say it still moved her deeply.
"Then why didn't you force me at the hotel, but later deliberately made things difficult for me at that dinner? Was that part of your plan too?"
He raised an eyebrow. "I don't like forcing people. As for the dinner, it was because I was frustrated with you. Wesley treated you that way, and you still kept your distance from me because of him."
Scarlett laughed. "I'm not that kind of casual woman. When I went to the hotel, I had been drinking and was upset."
"So I had to change my battle plan."
Scarlett laughed. His plan was to cause her trouble, to force her to quit her job and get divorced. His scheming was far beyond what ordinary people could match.
After laughing, she hugged his neck tightly, pressing close to him, and said in a muffled voice.
"Ambrose, I'm so glad you didn't give up on me. If you had given up on me, it would have been a huge loss for me."
He also held her tightly and teased, "Persistence is one of my most obvious strengths."
Scarlett laughed, then said not to be outdone.
"But you did so much, so heaven gave you two children, and now you have me too. You didn't lose anything; you only gained."
He really didn't lose out; he gained. Ambrose thought so too.
In the end, Scarlett still didn't mention starting her own business. She felt that even if she were to say it, now wasn't the time. She'd wait until everything was settled.
The next day, Scarlett took Xander's car and went to see Owen. She got in smoothly, much like usual.
When she saw Owen, they shared their usual hug. After father and daughter exchanged a few words, Owen got to the point.
"Scarlett, I know about what's happening outside. Now the Reynolds Family and the Mitchell Family are causing trouble for you and Ambrose. Do you have a way to handle it?"
Scarlett guessed Owen must know about this. She didn't hide anything and told him the whole situation in detail.
"I also know the Reynolds Family is being investigated, but even if they're investigated, it won't help if nothing major is found. Right now, only Tobias's problems are serious in the Reynolds Family, but that's not enough to bring down the Reynolds Family. You should investigate the Mitchell family instead. The Mitchell Family has dirt on the Reynolds family, they are easier to investigate."
After listening, Scarlett nodded.
"But Dad, right now I'm not sure what information would be useful to our side, and we only have issues with Octavia from the Mitchell Family. We haven't found any evidence on Indigo yet."
"Octavia is just one aspect, but there are other things. Someone will submit them. But if you get any evidence, give it directly to Orion. He'll know what to do."
Scarlett understood. Owen's side must have some evidence, so they were taking this opportunity to expose it all at once and draw the higher-ups' attention to investigating Indigo. It was like tearing open a gap.
After discussing business, Owen brought up Ambrose, and he even knew about the children.
Scarlett didn't expect Owen's information in prison to be as current as outside. It seemed Owen's situation was better than she thought.
"Dad, let me show you Hayden."
She took out her phone and found photos and videos of Hayden that she'd recorded last night.
Owen took the phone, and when he saw Hayden's cute face that looked so similar to Yara's, tears immediately welled up in his eyes.
"He looks just like Yara. Twins really do look alike." Owen murmured.
Scarlett smiled. "He's very smart, just like Yara. He has a photographic memory too."
"Good. Heaven sent me two angel-like children. This is truly wonderful."
After looking at the children, Owen sighed again. "Back then, when Quentin came to ask for your hand in marriage for Ambrose, I refused. Who would have thought that after all these twists and turns, we would still end up becoming in-laws? It's really fate."
Scarlett held Owen's hand, unable to say anything.
Owen learned from her about what Ambrose had done all these years and was very satisfied with him. When Scarlett was leaving, he reminded her that two people need to understand each other to last.
When Scarlett returned to the company and just stepped through the front door, she ran into a group of people coming out. She could tell they were there to audit the accounts.
They wore black uniforms, very formal and authoritative.
The man leading them had an upright face, but when he saw Scarlett, there was a micro-expression on his face.
But in just two seconds, he returned to his original expression.
Scarlett saw it clearly.
As they passed by her, everyone looked straight ahead, carrying cardboard boxes, walking briskly away.
Scarlett stood watching for a while before stepping into the elevator.
As soon as she got in the elevator, she sent Ambrose a message.
[How did the audit go? I just saw them leaving with stuff.]
By the time the elevator reached her floor, Ambrose replied.
[They took the account books, but it won't affect the company's normal operations. How was your dad?]
Seeing that everything was fine, Scarlett breathed a sigh of relief and replied: [My dad is fine, but he said some things. I'm coming to find you now. Is it convenient?]
[I'm in my office.]
Scarlett locked her screen and walked to Ambrose's office. Inside, Ambrose seemed unaffected by the audit and was working as usual.
After Scarlett went in, she was a bit thirsty, so she poured herself a glass of water first. After drinking it, she relayed Owen's message to him.
Ambrose nodded and said, "I've already contacted Ulysses. He should have some things."
Scarlett was surprised. Was Ulysses actually willing to give the evidence to Ambrose?
