Chapter 271 The Woman Who Looks Like Her
Scarlett had been pampered since childhood, carrying herself with the grace and composure of a wealthy young lady, but Felicity lacked those qualities—she was only timid.
Ruben turned to look at Ambrose in shock. Ambrose narrowed his eyes. At first glance, he thought Felicity was Scarlett .
If he hadn't just lost control with her earlier at home, he would have rushed forward to protect her.
Upon closer inspection, he could see the differences.
Felicity's face only showed a pitiful expression, without Scarlett's calm and composed demeanor.
"You barge in here so boldly, are you looking for die?" Ruben sneered.
The people who had chased in saw the three men and quickly explained.
"Mr. Boleyn, Mr. Lawson, Mr. Evans, we mean no offense, but she just injured our boss. We must take her back."
"He was trying to force himself on me. I had no choice but to hurt him." Felicity defended herself in panic.
The situation was clear that this woman had been forced by someone, fought back and injured him, then escaped.
Normally, they would beat up the pursuers and throw them out to show their authority.
But now that Felicity looked so similar to Scarlett, the room fell silent.
After more than ten seconds, Felix spoke with a half-smile.
"We live in a society with laws. You're still doing this forced business?"
"Mr. Evans, this woman agreed on a price, but when she saw our boss had money, she demanded more halfway through. Our boss couldn't take it anymore, so he tried to force her."
"That's nonsense. I never agreed. You tricked me. I wasn't here to sell myself at all. I was just covering for my friend's shift. Your boss was completely unreasonable and got physical." Felicity spoke up.
In a club, it's impossible for a prostitute to want money while staying pure.
But if she wasn't a club prostitute, that was a different story.
Felix wasn't sure whether to help now, and turned to look at Ambrose.
Ambrose, who had been silent, stared at Felicity with dark eyes, as if searching for something on her face.
Ruben was a cop. Though usually not serious, he had a strong sense of justice when it came to right and wrong. He asked.
"You're not a hostess at the club?"
Felicity shook her head. "My friend works here, but she got sick today and couldn't take leave. I felt bad for her, so I covered her shift for the day."
"Who is your boss?" Ambrose finally spoke, but he was asking the people at the door.
"Tobias Reynolds."
At that name, all three men's hearts jumped.
Tobias had actually come to Silverlight City.
They hadn't settled the score from last time when he kidnapped Scarlett, and he dared to come back. Now he'd found a woman who looked like Scarlett - did this mean he hadn't given up his evil intentions?
Ruben and Felix both looked at Ambrose. His brow furrowed slightly, his deep eyes hiding an unreadable murderous intent.
The next second, he looked up at Felicity.
Felicity kept her head lowered. In that posture, she really did look like Scarlett when she bowed her head.
"Go tell your Mr. Reynolds she's not willing."
With those words, he saved Felicity.
The three men knew Ambrose and didn't dare offend him, so they left the private room reluctantly.
Seeing this, Felicity stood up and bowed deeply to Ambrose. "Thank you for saving me."
Ambrose glanced at her coolly. "I saved you because I have a grudge against him, not because of you."
Felicity didn't mind and continued to express her gratitude in a gentle voice.
"Whatever the reason, you saved my life. I'll never forget this great kindness."
"So are you going to marry him to repay the favor?" Ruben joked with a light laugh.
Felicity's face turned red, but her eyes stayed fixed on Ambrose as she murmured, "I wouldn't dare."
Ambrose's brow furrowed slightly. This kind of expression was something Scarlett often did.
Especially when she looked at him with that shy manner - that was his favorite.
But Felicity had the same gesture.
Seeing Ambrose staring at her, Felicity shyly lowered her eyes and nervously clasped her hands.
This series of actions was just like Scarlett.
Ambrose watched her, his eyes unfathomable.
The silence grew heavy. Ruben leaned forward to grab the wine bottle. Seeing this, Felicity immediately stepped forward and said softly.
"Sir, let me pour for you."
Ruben froze. Having this face that looked like Scarlett pour wine for him really creeped him out. Even though it wasn't actually Scarlett, it still creeped him out.
He looked at Ambrose, saw no emotion on his face, then after pouring himself wine, handed the bottle to Felicity. "Go pour for the person who saved you."
Felicity took the bottle with a smile and walked obediently to Ambrose, half-kneeling.
"Sir, let me pour your wine."
Ambrose glanced at her coldly. "What's your name?"
"I'm Felicity Green."
Ambrose thought for a few seconds, then waved his hand dismissively. "I don't need you to serve me. Get out."
Felicity didn't understand what she'd done wrong or why he suddenly changed, but she didn't push it. She put down the bottle, stood up, and stepped aside.
"Sir, I don't dare go out right now. They might still be waiting for me outside. Can I hide here for a bit? I won't disturb you. You can just pretend I don't exist."
Felicity looked pitiful, seeming very helpless.
Ambrose didn't respond. Ruben swirled the liquid in his glass, looked at Felix, and gave him a meaningful look.
Felix could guess what he was thinking, but ignored him.
Seeing he was being ignored, Ruben had to speak up.
"We can help you for now, but not forever. Since you're not a hostess, you should leave this place quickly. What's more important your life or your friend's job?"
Felicity lowered her head and didn't plead, just sighed.
"My friend is very important to me, and she needs this job. But since you put it that way, sir, I won't disturb you anymore."
With that, Felicity reluctantly left the room.
As soon as she left, Ruben got excited, looking at Ambrose with gleaming eyes.
"Ambrose, this woman looks way too much like Scarlett! Did she get plastic surgery to look like Scarlett on purpose?"
Ambrose held his wine glass, looking thoughtful. "Just investigate, and we'll know."
"Right, we should investigate. What if she uses that face to do something illegal? It could implicate Scarlett too."
"Then you handle the investigation." Ambrose felt this matter wasn't worth his time.
Ruben agreed. Someone at the club needed him, so he left the private room to handle it.
In the room, Felix looked at Ambrose's dejected appearance and tried to comfort him.
"She's just a woman. Coax her a bit. Plus, you two have two kids together - are you really afraid she'll run away?"
Ambrose knew this, but faced with Scarlett's cold attitude, he really couldn't stay calm, which led to tonight's loss of control.
Thinking about tonight's loss of control now, he was still worried. He didn't know how much she would hate him.
At this thought, he grew more irritated, grabbed his glass, and downed it in one gulp.
Felix saw this and shook his head.
He couldn't persuade him anymore. Maybe it was better to let Ambrose get drunk.
Ambrose drank quite a lot and was somewhat drunk when leaving the club. But by bad luck, he ran into Tobias grabbing Felicity, about to force her.
