Chapter 192 Happy Twins
The two little ones were especially well-behaved, sitting in a row, eating local specialties they'd never tried before.
Scarlett sat beside them, talking with Orion. Elowen came out carrying some fruit, and seeing the two little ones like this, couldn't help but sigh.
"They're really so well-behaved!"
Scarlett turned to glance at the two children and smiled.
"You watch the kids, I need to talk to Scarlett about something in the study," Orion said to Elowen.
Before leaving, Scarlett specifically told them, "You two play here, I need to talk to Mr. Philip about something."
The two little ones nodded in unison. Scarlett got up and followed Orion to the study, leaving the two little ones sitting in the living room.
In the study, Orion and Scarlett sat facing each other. "Scarlett, you're working at the Boleyn Group now. How's the job going?"
"Pretty good," Scarlett replied.
"I asked you here today because I wanted to tell you that the Boleyn family is getting close with the Mitchell family now, and you're working at the Boleyn Group. If they try to sabotage you at work, you'll be in trouble."
"Your dad knows what's going on out there, especially what Ulysses did to you. You even injured his forehead, he definitely won't let that go easily. Owen asked me to help you sort out your job at the Boleyn Group. Tell me what you're thinking."
Scarlett understood what he meant. Owen was worried she'd be targeted by the Mitchell family at the Boleyn Group and wanted Orion to help her leave.
She did want to leave the Boleyn Group. The art museum project was still ongoing, but she was only responsible for the design, and she didn't need to worry about the rest.
"Mr. Philip, I have thought about leaving the Boleyn Group. The art museum has started construction now, and I've done what I needed to do. But I signed a one-year contract with the Boleyn Group."
"Don't worry about that. If you want to leave, I'll help you sort it out," Orion said.
Scarlett thought for a few seconds. "Mr. Philip, how about this, I'll talk to Ambrose first. If he doesn't agree, then you can talk to him."
"Alright, that's the best approach."
Scarlett was silent for a few seconds, then said, "Mr. Philip, since you can still contact my dad, is there any progress on his situation?"
"Scarlett, don't worry about his situation. You can't help with it anyway. Your main job is to protect yourself. If anything comes up, come straight to me, or you can find Vaughn."
"Vaughn's back?"
"He's been transferred to the military unit here in Silverlight City. If you need anything, you can always find him."
Vaughn Philip was Orion's son. He was a soldier, and when she was little, Vaughn had always looked after her, like a big brother taking care of his little sister.
In the living room, only Hayden and Yara remained. Hayden had never visited someone else's home before. He looked around the house and came to the fish tank. He walked over and stared at the fish inside. They didn't have this at home, only fish in the pond. He was quite curious.
Yara dropped the food in her hand and followed him over.
As the two were watching the fish, the door behind them opened, and in walked a man in military uniform, upright and dignified, it was Vaughn.
"Two little ones, I thought Scarlett only had one daughter?"
Vaughn saw the little ones and walked over curiously. Looking at Yara, he smiled and said, "Is your mom Scarlett?"
Yara nodded. "Who are you?"
Vaughn smiled and patted her head. "I'm the son of this family. My name is Vaughn Philip."
Yara grinned. "You're Mr. Philip's son."
"Very smart," Vaughn laughed.
"Is this your brother?" Vaughn asked, looking at Hayden. They looked so alike!
Yara introduced in a sweet, childlike voice, "He's my classmate, Hayden."
Hayden looked at Vaughn but didn't say anything. Vaughn didn't mind. Seeing them watching the fish and guessing they liked them, he started introducing the fish to them.
When Scarlett came out of the study, she saw Vaughn playing with the two kids. She called out, "Vaughn!"
Vaughn turned around, saw Scarlett, and called out warmly, "Scarlett, long time no see."
The two exchanged greetings, making quite a lively scene.
At the dinner table, everyone was very happy. The two little ones didn't need Scarlett to look after them, they could eat by themselves. Orion's family all praised how well-behaved the two kids were, especially Elowen, who really liked them.
After dinner, Orion needed to rest. Elowen and Vaughn kept Scarlett company. Vaughn played chess with the two little ones while Scarlett chatted with Elowen.
"Scarlett, whose child is this? So smart!" Vaughn suddenly exclaimed.
Scarlett stopped talking and looked over, laughing. "Vaughn, don't tell me you're losing at chess to a little kid!"
"This child is only four or five years old, and he has this ability, he's simply a genius," Vaughn praised from the bottom of his heart.
Scarlett knew Hayden was a genius, very smart.
"I'm really good too!" Yara, beside them, refused to be outdone and expressed herself.
"Yes, you're really good too."
Everyone burst out laughing.
At two in the afternoon, Scarlett took the two kids back to Lakeside Garden. On the way, she praised the two little ones.
"Actually, visiting other people's homes is pretty fun," Hayden said happily.
He was rarely praised like this. Ambrose never praised him, but Vaughn had praised him.
Scarlett understood Hayden's thoughts. "Vaughn praised you for being smart because you really are smart. If you keep working hard, no one else will be able to catch up with you."
"I will, I'll work really hard."
Scarlett smiled.
Back at Lakeside Garden, after dropping off the two little ones, Scarlett went out again to look at houses. Lakeside Garden was Ambrose's house. Although she paid rent, it was still within his domain.
If she wanted a clean break, she had to move out of here.
Briar had found her a house. Although it couldn't compare to Lakeside Garden, it was still pretty good, and the price was right. Scarlett planned to take it.
Just as they were about to sign the contract, the agent suddenly got a phone call saying someone else had rented the house first. Helplessly, they'd made the trip for nothing.
On the way back, Briar wondered, "Scarlett, Ambrose doesn't have people following you, does he?"
Scarlett shook her head. "Probably not anymore."
"Good. I was worried he knew you were looking for a place to rent and intercepted it."
Hearing this, Scarlett became thoughtful.
In the evening, Ambrose kept his word and came to pick up Hayden on time. Although Hayden was reluctant to leave, he had promised Scarlett, so he didn't cry or make a fuss. He was very quiet, just looking at her with pitiful eyes.
Scarlett couldn't stand his gaze. She called Ambrose into the study and told him what Hayden had told her.
"As for what's really going on, you need to observe for yourself. Hayden is a very smart child, don't let him get hurt."
"You're so worried about him, why don't you take care of him?" Ambrose stared at her.
"No matter which child it is, I don't want to see them get hurt. Hayden is your child. I'm just reminding you. Also, what happened today won't happen again. You need to watch Hayden properly." Her expression was cold.
"Now that we're done talking about the child, I want to talk to you about my work. The art museum has started construction now, so I've kept my promise. I'm planning to resign."
