Chapter 12 Ban
Aiden couldn't understand. Wasn't Scarlett working with Ambrose?
Why would he blacklist her?
"Mr. Boleyn, I'm a bit confused here," Aiden asked, perplexed.
"Not only did she break my rules, she also manipulated me into signing a contract. She must be punished. And don't think about having other designers from the Ross Group take over—I'm holding the entire company responsible."
Aiden was shocked. So Scarlett wasn't Ambrose's associate after all?
How could he explain the fact that she had Ambrose's personal number?
What exactly was the relationship between these two?
Ambrose's words were quickly verified. By the next day, news had spread that Scarlett had been blacklisted by Ambrose, with the Ross Group suffering collateral damage. Some business partners were even calling to terminate their collaborations.
The sudden blacklisting caught Scarlett by surprise as well. Being blacklisted meant no company would dare use her designs, and even those already working with her would terminate their partnerships for this reason. The Ross Group would soon find itself in trouble.
Was Ambrose using this method to force her out of her contract?
She sat at her desk, contemplating the butterfly effect of this blacklisting and whether it might actually help with her divorce.
"Scarlett, how dare you provoke Ambrose! If you're tired of living, don't drag the company down with you," Bianca stormed over, unleashing her fury.
Instantly, all colleagues in the vicinity turned to watch the drama unfold.
Scarlett looked up, her gaze cold as ice. "Who do you think you are to lecture me?"
Bianca paused, guessing that Scarlett had nothing left to lose—after all, she'd never dared speak to her in such a tone before.
Pointing directly at her, Bianca snapped, "I'm your superior. You've damaged company interests, so of course I have the right to discipline you. I'm not just going to lecture you—I'm firing you."
A smirk curved Scarlett's lips. "Are you firing me as the future CEO's wife?"
Though she was a designer, given her seniority and importance to the company, only Wesley had the authority to fire her. Bianca, as a department manager, had no such power.
Her provocative tone was so brazen that Bianca glared furiously. "You..."
Just then, the internal phone on her desk rang. Scarlett gave a cold, mocking smile before turning to pick up the receiver.
"Come to my office." Wesley's enraged voice sounded in her ear.
Putting down the receiver, Scarlett stood up and walked past Bianca without a glance, heading straight for Wesley's office.
She knocked and entered, walking up to Wesley, whose expression was grim. As soon as she stopped in front of him, he bellowed.
"Scarlett, what the hell have you done?"
Facing Wesley's explosive anger, Scarlett remained remarkably calm, looking at him coldly.
"I've done many things, but no matter what I do, I have only one goal—to make you sign the divorce papers."
Wesley stared at her as if she were some kind of monster. "You provoked Ambrose just to make me sign divorce papers? Have you lost your mind?"
Scarlett's face remained cold, her gaze fierce and sharp as she looked at him. "I told you, I built this company up, and I have the power to destroy it. Wesley, I wasn't joking."
Wesley was stunned as he looked at Scarlett—ruthless and cold, without a trace of her former docility.
He had never seen this side of Scarlett before.
"How did you become like this?" He asked in disbelief.
"I've always been this way. You just never bothered to know me."
Wesley stared at Scarlett's hardened expression, leaning his hands on his desk and fixing his gaze on her.
"Have you considered that if you destroy this company, you won't be able to stay in Silverlight City? No one in any other city will dare hire you either. You'll be finished in the entire architectural industry. How will you support your child then? Don't you love your daughter more than anything? Haven't you thought about any of this?"
Scarlett looked at him with cold mockery. He was trying a softer approach now, but it was too late. She laughed bitterly.
"That's not your concern. I can handle the consequences of my actions."
Seeing her determination, his conciliatory tone vanished. Wesley's face darkened as he shouted, "Scarlett, you're being absolutely stubborn."
"I learned from you."
Wesley was speechless. Scarlett continued, "Once you sign the divorce papers, I'll make sure to explain to Ambrose that none of this has anything to do with the company."
Wesley looked at her skeptically. "And he'll believe that?"
Scarlett gave him a cold look and continued her strategy.
"My father used to know the Boleyn family. Ambrose might not remember me, but once I remind him of who I am, they'll give me that courtesy."
Wesley frowned, surprised by this information.
How had he never heard that Owen knew the Boleyn family?
Seeing the doubt in his eyes, Scarlett pressed on, "Don't believe me? I'll call him right now."
With that, Scarlett pulled out her phone and dialed Ambrose's number directly.
When the call connected, Ambrose's voice came through, "What is it?"
"Mr. Boleyn, this is Scarlett. I apologize for offending you. Since my actions have affected the company, our CEO would like to speak with you." She handed the phone to Wesley.
Wesley was still stunned by the fact that Scarlett had Ambrose's number. With the phone thrust in front of him, he had no time to dwell on it and quickly took it.
"Mr. Boleyn, this is Wesley from the Ross Group. I had no idea Scarlett would offend you—if I'd known, I would have stopped her. Could you possibly reconsider and not hold the Ross Group responsible?"
"If you want me to spare the Ross Group, let Scarlett talk to me directly."
After a moment's hesitation, Wesley quickly agreed and handed the phone back to Scarlett, who casually said into the phone, "Mr. Boleyn, I'll contact you shortly."
After hanging up, Scarlett stated directly, "Sign the divorce papers, and I can take responsibility for this with Ambrose."
Wesley eyed her coldly, assessing her as he sat down in his chair.
"Scarlett, do you think I'd agree to give you forty percent of the shares because of this little trick? You're being naive."
Scarlett gave a cold laugh, crossing her arms and looking at him sideways, revealing a fact.
"I signed Aiden's contract by leveraging Ambrose, precisely to prevent you from going back on your word."
Wesley's eyes widened in shock. She really had used every means possible to get that forty percent stake.
After a long pause, he finally said, "I'll give you ten million dollars. If you agree, I'll sign the divorce papers. If not, we'll just keep dragging this out."
He had only retreated a small step. Scarlett laughed coldly, "Then we'll drag it out."
With that, Scarlett turned to leave, not wanting to continue the conversation.
"Scarlett, do you really have to force my hand like this?" Wesley shouted as she reached the door.
She turned, her expression ice-cold. "Yes."
With that, she left. Scarlett refused to yield an inch, and Wesley's expression darkened. He picked up the phone and made a call.
Around eleven o'clock, Scarlett received a call from the kindergarten teacher saying that Yara had been taken by Opal.
Scarlett immediately rushed to confront Wesley.
