Chapter 253 Who is the Murderer

Chapter 253 Who is the Murderer

As soon as these words were spoken, the entire hall fell silent.

Sophia pointed to the dead Jade beside her and then to the spot where the bronze statue originally stood, analyzing, "I don't know if any of you are good at math and physics."

"I just pushed this weight. Maybe it's not 1000 pounds, but it's definitely 700 pounds. From this height, once it falls, do you know how much potential energy it has according to gravitational acceleration?" She continued.

No one answered. Everyone looked at Sophia, waiting for her analysis.

Sophia expressed, "If it fell directly, Jade's head would have exploded like a watermelon, and her body would have been crushed, not kneeling like it is now."

The opposing woman beside her suddenly lost her momentum and murmured, "Then what is the reason? Why did this happen?"

Sophia said, "There is a possibility that it didn't need that much potential energy."

She pointed to the bronze statue, "If it was slowly placed on Ms. Marie's head, that would make sense."

The woman beside her shook her head, "That's impossible. That thing is too heavy. Who could hold a 700-pound object and let it slowly fall onto Ms. Marie's head?"

"This place doesn't have any pulleys to save effort, nor any signs of tools being used, unless several people lifted it together."

"And our church isn't so big. It's very spacious. If several people were hiding, they should be easy to find."

Hearing their analysis, Sophia smiled, "It doesn't need several people. One person could complete this."

"That's impossible." The burly woman beside her widened her eyes and shook her arm as thick as a calf, "I work out and can only lift 500 pounds, and I can't hold it for a minute. If one wants to move something that heavy and place it on Ms. Marie's head, it would take at least ten minutes. Who can hold something that heavy for ten minutes? And as the position lowers, it becomes harder to control, and it has to be done without making a sound. That's absolutely impossible."

Facing everyone, Sophia said word by word, "What if the initial weight of this thing wasn't that heavy? Maybe it wasn't even 200 pounds?"

The fat woman pointed at Sophia, "Are you joking? Can't we feel how heavy this thing is? Do you think we're fools?"

Sophia walked to the bronze statue and touched it. "What if it's hollow inside? Would it be that heavy?"

The fat woman continued, "It's hollow? But it's very heavy. It shouldn't be hollow."

Sophia remarked, "The main reason you think it's not hollow is because it's heavy. But don't forget, once a hollow object is filled, it can be as heavy as a solid one."

The fat woman didn't quite understand. She didn't answer but looked at everyone, hoping someone could explain.

Sophia raised her hand and asked, "What do you see on my hand?"

The woman beside her answered, "There's nothing on your hand."

"Fingerprints, five fingers."

"Your skin is good, no calluses on your hands, you probably haven't done heavy work."

James couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Her hand has water."

Sophia turned her hand, showing water dripping from her palm. Although the drops were small, many smart people immediately understood.

"Are you saying there's water inside?" someone suddenly asked.

Sophia nodded, "If it's not filled with water, it's just a shell, not as heavy as you think. In that case, many people here could move it, right?"

The group looked at each other but didn't speak.

Sophia continued, "If you move it and slowly place it on Jade's head, many people could do that. After placing it, fill it with water, and you get the current situation."

The women were silent, staring at Sophia.

It seemed unbelievable, and they couldn't quite believe it. Many were probably thinking, 'How did she come up with such a clever deduction?'

Sophia smiled, "Next, let's find the water inlet."

After looking at each other, everyone started searching for the bronze statue. About ten minutes later, a woman said, "The water inlet is in the middle of the flower petals on top of the bronze statue. There's a sealed knob here."

Sophia nodded, "If there's an inlet, there should be a drain."

She walked to the bottom of the statue and found a similar knob. She tried to unscrew it but found it very difficult.

James stepped forward and twisted it hard, finally loosening the knob. Water quickly flowed out, taking half an hour to completely empty the statue.

Sophia lifted the bronze statue with a strong effort and threw it aside. She looked at Jade, whose head had several blood holes. From the lower half of her face, it was indeed Jade.

Even though her identity was confirmed, Sophia was still shocked. They had just parted not long ago, and their conversation seemed to have just happened. But now, she was facing Jade's corpse.

Sophia couldn't accept it for a moment. She took a deep breath and stood in silence for a long time.

At that moment, the fat woman asked, "Since we've figured out the method of her murder, where's the killer? Is the killer really in the hall?"

Sophia said seriously, "They should be."

The fat woman asked, "I don't quite understand. How did the killer fill it with water?"

Sophia pointed to the handwashing basin, "By connecting a hose to the faucet and continuously filling it."

The fat woman probed, "Where's the hose?"

Sophia answered, "It should be on the killer."

She looked at the bronze statue on the ground and asked, "When was this made? Does anyone know?"

Molly raised her head. "About two years ago."

Sophia looked into the distance, "It seems the killer planned to kill Jade two years ago. What grudge do they have?"

Samuel asked, "So who is the killer?"

Sophia took a deep breath, "The friend you've been looking for."
