Chapter 121 Time is running out
Victoria hadn't even entered the room yet when she heard the sound of porcelain shattering inside, accompanied by Brandon's icy voice.
"So this is the waste I hired with a million-dollar salary. Go settle with HR yourself, I don't want to see you again."
"President Duncan..."
A wail came from inside.
Elijah paused and glanced at Victoria, his expression full of "I told you so". Several high-level executives had already suffered the same fate.
Victoria walked over with her food box and knocked on the door, but heard the person inside say, "I don't want to see anyone."
Victoria pushed the door open anyway.
"Didn't you hear what I said?"
Brandon looked up and stiffened slightly when he saw who had come in. But immediately, his frown deepened.
"Who let you in?"
"Elijah asked me to come," Victoria said, setting down her food box.
Brandon was taken aback, his gaze growing even darker. "You don't need to be here, get out."
Elijah had begged her to come, and she had only come because of him. Otherwise, she wouldn't have bothered.
Victoria's hand holding the food box stopped. "Are you really not going to eat it? Then I'll take it with me."
"Get out!" Brandon's anger surged, and he cursed as he slammed the keyboard down hard.
Victoria turned around in surprise.
He gritted his teeth and looked at her. "Hmph, if you want to leave, then leave far away. Roll out of the villa and never come back. I don't want to see you again."
Victoria couldn't help but think, what a stroke of luck. She was just worried about not being able to find an excuse to escape from giving birth. Victoria turned back around. "Are you serious? Then I'll really leave."
"Go ahead. You're just a heartless woman who only knows how to scheme against me. Even a dog knows when it's being fed and licks its owner's hand. You're not even as good as a dog."
Victoria was unhappy now. She turned back around. "You were the one who falsely accused me first. I was just fighting back. How is that scheming against you?"
"Haven't you ever schemed against me?"
"I..."
Looking at the man's intense gaze, Victoria suddenly found herself at a loss for words. Yes, she had schemed against him before. But that was only for self-preservation. Their eyes met, and he tightly pursed his lips, looking very unhappy.
Victoria actually knew that he was just throwing a tantrum like a child. He was a domineering person who was deceived by a woman like Diana and had his face exposed. He was embarrassed.
It was like a child throwing a tantrum. She put the food box back on the table again.
"I'll leave it here. You can do whatever you want with it. If you want to eat it, then eat it. If not, then feed it to the dog."
"Then go feed it to the dog."
Brandon snorted and didn't even look at her. He turned his head back to the computer.
Victoria didn't turn around and walked away.
Elijah watched her leave, feeling anxious. But he quickly walked into the office and saw Brandon still typing away on his computer. He shook his head helplessly. It seemed that even the young mistress couldn't calm the master down this time. The master was really angry.
After all, this was a major setback in life... Anyone would be angry. But the young mistress didn't even try to coax him and just left like that.
Elijah picked up the food box and prepared to leave silently.
"What are you doing?" Brandon looked up.
"Nothing..." Elijah trembled.
When he silently put down the food box, Brandon spoke again.
"Open it and put it on the table."
"..."
Elijah was silent.
Didn't the master just say he was going to feed the dog?
Soon, the food was placed on the table.
Brandon came over and picked up the chopsticks.
Four dishes and one soup, they looked and smelled delicious, and it was obvious that it was Victoria's cooking.
The food was well-prepared.
After eating, Brandon's mood seemed to have improved a lot.
Seeing Brandon gradually recovering, Elijah finally wiped his sweat behind him.
When Brandon returned to the villa, he saw Victoria drawing.
She heard a voice and looked up to see Brandon standing in front of her, looking at the drawing in her hand. "Didn't you already submit the design for the project? What are you still drawing?" he asked.
"Just because there's no project doesn't mean I can stop drawing. I draw whenever I have inspiration. Otherwise, I might forget or become rusty if I don't draw for a long time," Victoria replied.
He walked over and looked at one of the drawings. "The beam data here is wrong. If you design it like this, the building will collapse."
Victoria looked down and saw that he was right. She looked up at him strangely. He also knew how to read these drawings. She knew that he had knowledge of engineering from when she designed for the Gulf project. She pouted, "This is just a draft. I haven't made any modifications yet. There will definitely be some small problems."
Brandon snorted, "Always making excuses for yourself."
"That's not true. Everyone has their own design habits," Victoria retorted. But even though she said that, she still erased that line and recalculated the data.
Brandon watched her and his lips curved slightly. "By the way, the food at lunch today was good. Let's continue tomorrow."
Victoria couldn't help but look up. He ate it? Wasn't he going to throw it away?
But why was he asking her to cook again tomorrow? Was he treating her like a nanny?
Victoria didn't want to do it. What if he got used to it and didn't want to let her go? She could wait, but her baby couldn't. The next day, she got up but didn't see Brandon. Victoria saw Elijah and asked, "Where is your master? Didn't he say he wanted you to cook for him every day? He's not here, so I don't know if I should cook or not." Elijah's expression looked a bit solemn, and he lowered his voice, thinking he should warn the young lady so as not to anger the master. "Young lady, it's better for you to stay away from the master on this day every year, so as not to anger him." "Why?" Victoria asked. "Today is the anniversary of the late lady's death." Victoria was stunned, but suddenly remembered what Diana had said before. "Elijah...I want to ask you, how did Duncan Jing's mother die?" Elijah's face changed, "Why does the young lady suddenly ask about this?" "Just curious, I feel like she was still young when she died." "She died in an accident. If you ask me, it's fine, but don't ask the master." Victoria wanted to ask more, but Elijah waved his hand and hurried away. Could it be that Brandon's mother's death was really suspicious? Victoria thought for a moment and decided that Brandon wouldn't be concerned about anything else today, so she might as well go to the hospital for a check-up. At the hospital, the doctor examined her belly.
"Now you're starting to show, you can eat more freely from now on. Everything else looks healthy, and the two babies should be in a stage of rapid growth. Your belly will grow quickly, Miss Griffin, so you shouldn't wear tight clothes anymore."
Victoria's face changed.
Growing quickly...
It seemed that she didn't have much time left.
