Chapter 86
I didn't expect Jason to actually go find Lily. I paused before asking, "Did you tell him?"
"Of course! You had such a hard time back then. Since he asked, I definitely had to tell him. Otherwise, Jason wouldn't even know what you went through for him!"
Lily said matter-of-factly.
I wanted to ask what Jason's reaction was after hearing it, but I swallowed the words back down.
Lily seemed to read my mind and spoke up on her own. "Jason cried right after hearing it. His eyes were red, and he stumbled out the door. Really frightened me."
He cried?
Lily tilted her head, looking at me, and asked, "Are you feeling bad for him?"
I pressed my lips together and shook my head gently. "No, I just think since all that is in the past, there's no need to bring it up again."
"If it were really in the past, you and Jason would've gotten back together already. Why would you still be tangled up like this?"
Lily sighed and patted my shoulder sympathetically. "You're just being stubborn."
Yes, I admit those five years still haunt me.
But Jason and I, that's just how it is. There's no future for us.
I didn't want to keep dwelling on this heavy matter.
I looked at Lily, suddenly remembering what happened at the bar that night.
"What's really going on between you and Ryan?"
Lily's chopsticks froze for a moment, then she sped up eating and mumbled, "Nothing much..."
Her reaction made me suspicious.
I simply took the noodles away and said calmly, "If you don't tell me, no food for you."
She glanced at me, then finally said, "Fine, I'll tell you. Remember that young hottie I met when I went traveling? Ryan is that guy. I just never thought he'd be Jason's friend. We're all the same age, but he looks like a teenager."
I didn't expect such a coincidence either.
I asked curiously, "So what's your relationship now? I saw him get really excited when he saw you that day."
"We're just normal friends with benefits. I'm a woman too, you know. Having some physical needs is totally normal. Ryan's good-looking and I'm very satisfied, so we've been seeing each other more often lately."
At this point, Lily suddenly stared at me suggestively. "How do you deal with it when you have physical needs?"
My face instantly turned red, and I stammered, "I don't have physical needs!"
"Come on! We're both women. You think I'd believe that?"
Lily moved closer and threw her arm around my shoulder. "With our relationship, you're still hiding things from me? We all have normal physical needs. What's there to be embarrassed about?"
I still pressed my lips together and said nothing.
Lily suddenly said mysteriously, "If nothing else works, what about Jason? He's been chasing after you anyway. If you really want it, what's wrong with using him?"
"Lily!" My face instantly flushed red.
Lily stuck out her tongue and said, "Okay, okay, I'll stop."
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
Lily looked at the door, then at me. "Who is it?"
I had a pretty good guess who it was, but I didn't really want to admit it.
Lily narrowed her eyes, seeming to realize something, and got up to open the door.
"You're here for Sue?"
Jason, standing at the door, nodded and naturally changed his shoes and came in.
Lily waved at me, flashed a suggestive smile, and left directly.
My whole body stiffened. I felt my face burning too much. I didn't need a mirror to know it must be really red right now.
Jessica stayed in her room and didn't come out.
Jason and I sat on the living room sofa. Neither of us spoke, and silence spread between us.
Gradually, I felt something touching my hand.
Looking down, I saw Jason carefully, tentatively trying to hold my hand.
When I looked up, I met Jason's deep gaze.
His eyes were intense, like a whirlpool, almost completely absorbing my soul.
"You..." Before I could finish, Jason pulled me into his arms.
His arms were strong and powerful, holding me tightly in his embrace. In my ear was his intense heartbeat.
My breath caught, and my body stiffened a bit.
Just then, Jason's low, guilty voice came through the resonance of his chest. "...Sue, I'm sorry."
My nose tingled, and tears nearly spilled out.
I bit my lower lip hard, trying my best not to cry.
The familiar scent surrounded my nose, the almost bone-deep warmth comforting every inch of my skin and soothing my soul.
My body instinctively softened, nestling in Jason's arms.
My body's reaction was telling me that I truly couldn't let go of Jason.
After a moment, Jason stroked my head before finally releasing me.
I finally had a chance to ask him, "It's so late, why did you come?"
"I just wanted to see you." Jason answered honestly.
I avoided his gaze and said softly, "Well, your timing is perfect. You can go keep Jessica company. Jessica really likes you as her dad."
After saying that, I got up to go back to my room, but Jason grabbed my hand.
I instinctively turned my head and unexpectedly crashed into his deep eyes.
Jason's finger scratched my palm, making it tingle.
I quickly pulled my hand back and almost ran back to my bedroom.
I leaned against the door listening for a while, and after confirming Jason had indeed gone to Jessica's room, I finally breathed a sigh of relief, turned around, and went to take a shower.
Taking a shower is definitely a very relaxing thing.
By the time I came out of the bathroom, I'd already forgotten the earlier awkwardness.
Just as I opened my bedroom door, I saw Jason coming out of the opposite room.
Our eyes met, and I could clearly feel Jason's gaze becoming more intense.
Before I could react, Jason had already pulled me into his arms.
He lowered his head and murmured in my ear, "Sue, you look so beautiful."
I pressed my lips together and said, "I know, thank you, but you should let me go now."
Not only did Jason not let go, but he also held me even tighter.
He bit my ear and said softly, "You can do whatever you want to me."
My brain went blank for a moment, followed by a burning sensation on my cheeks!
He heard what Lily and I were talking about!
"I don't need to!" I said with a red face, pushing Jason away and escaping back to my bedroom, closing and locking the door!
Jason's cheerful laughter came from outside the door.
A moment later, I heard the front door close.
Only then did I breathe a sigh of relief, patting my burning face hard, and turned to go to bed.
