Chapter 63

Chapter 63

"Jason, you're back so soon?"

Victoria wanted to run, but Samuel was blocking her from behind, cutting off her escape route completely.

Left with no choice, Victoria could only force a smile and walk forward.

"Now tell Sue clearly in front of her. What exactly is our relationship?" Jason's face was ice-cold, his gaze sharp and piercing as he stared at Victoria.

I stood beside Jason, wishing I could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.

It was working hours right now.

With Jason making such a scene, quite a few Glacier Corp employees had gathered around to watch.

Their curious gazes fell on me, and even though they lowered their voices to gossip, the chatter kept flooding into my ears.

"Isn't that Ms. Wilson? What does it mean that Mr. Cooper keeps holding onto her? Could they be..."

"You still don't get it?"

"Then what's the deal with Miss Brown? Wasn't everyone at the company saying she was Mr. Cooper's secret crush?"

"No idea."

My heart was pounding hard, and I desperately tried to break free from Jason's grip.

But Jason held my wrist tightly, refusing to let go no matter what.

Victoria's gaze fell on Jason holding my hand, the obvious jealousy and resentment in her eyes particularly glaring.

"Jason, are you sure you want to ask me this in front of so many people?" Victoria lowered her head, her voice heavy with sadness, as if Jason was doing something terribly wrong to her right now.

Jason frowned, saying coldly, "Wasn't I clear enough?"

Victoria's body swayed, as if she couldn't bear it.

She bit her lower lip, looking at Jason with hurt and sadness.

"Even if it would hurt me deeply? Jason, can't we talk about this privately? Why does it have to be here?" Victoria said, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked at him.

"Right here." Faced with Victoria's tears, Jason was completely unmoved.

His gaze locked onto Victoria, giving her no room to dodge.

Victoria's face turned pale inch by inch. Even with her carefully applied makeup, it couldn't hide how awful she looked right now.

The murmuring around them grew louder. Victoria wanted nothing more than to tear their mouths apart!

Victoria looked at me deeply, then met Jason's gaze, her voice incredibly mournful and resentful. "Even though I once saved you, you're still going to treat me like this?"

"If you hadn't saved me back then, you wouldn't even be qualified to stand in front of me." Jason's merciless words nearly made Victoria lose her pitiful expression.

She looked at him in disbelief, a bitter smile forming on her lips. "I understand now. I didn't know my place."

Just hearing her say this, anyone who didn't know better would think Jason was hurting her because of me.

The way people around us looked at me gradually changed, too.

I instinctively lowered my head even more.

I should never have told Jason about this. Now I couldn't leave even if I wanted to, and I had to endure all these people staring at me.

Plus, from what Victoria was saying, it seemed she and Jason weren't completely unrelated after all.

"You really didn't know your place." Unexpectedly, Jason wasn't affected by Victoria's words at all, speaking word by word.

He stared straight into Victoria's eyes, his tone growing increasingly impatient. "My patience has limits. Now answer my question."

Victoria bit her lip, unwilling to answer.

I quietly watched this scene unfold, feeling somewhat confused and lost.

Didn't Victoria say she was Jason's girlfriend? Why was she hesitating and not daring to admit it now?

"Jason, please don't do this, okay?" Victoria tried to struggle.

Jason said sternly, "Either come clean about our relationship now, or get out of Glacier Corp!"

My heart jumped, and I instinctively turned to look at Jason.

Jason's profile was handsome but filled with intense anger, his cold and intimidating presence making it hard to breathe.

Victoria stumbled even more, nearly falling to the ground.

She looked at Jason through tear-filled eyes. Seeing that Jason had no intention of changing his mind, she finally answered in a trembling voice, "We're not boyfriend and girlfriend. We're just ordinary friends."

As soon as she said this, the whole place erupted.

"Really? So she's not Mr. Cooper's girlfriend after all!"

"Wasn't everyone saying she was Mr. Cooper's secret crush?"

Jason keenly caught that remark, his cold gaze sweeping over them, his tone flat. "When did I ever say Victoria was my secret crush?"

He raised our joined hands in front of the employees, saying seriously and solemnly, "This is my secret crush. Always has been, never changed."

Jason's words stabbed into Victoria's chest like a sharp knife.

Victoria's face first flushed red, then turned dark.

Under everyone's mocking and scornful gazes, she stamped her foot hard and quickly turned to run away.

"So Mr. Cooper likes Ms. Wilson! No wonder it's always Ms. Wilson who delivers documents."

"How can Victoria be so shameless? I always thought she really was Mr. Cooper's secret crush and treated her so respectfully!"

"Who was saying she was Mr. Cooper's secret crush anyway?"

"She probably started it herself. When she first came to our company, she arrived with Mr. Cooper. She told everyone she studied abroad and Mr. Cooper paid for everything."

"She indeed saved Mr. Cooper, but to claim she's his secret crush - that's so disgusting!"

Victoria ran off, and now I really wanted to escape too.

Originally, I wanted to cut ties with Jason, or at least stop getting entangled with each other.

I never expected that to prove his innocence, Jason would drag me to Glacier Corp to confront Victoria publicly.

Now it was awkward.

Everyone knew there was something between Jason and me!

Taking advantage of Jason's calmer mood, I immediately pulled my hand free and strode toward the company exit.

Every extra minute I stayed here made me feel terrible!

Jason chased after me with big strides.

With his height and long legs, he caught up to me in just a few steps. His long arm reached out to grab my wrist, and under everyone's distant, gossipy stares, he pulled me into the car.

I couldn't break free, so I could only glare at Jason angrily and demand, "Jason, what exactly are you trying to do?"

"Explain to you that Victoria isn't my secret crush, and she's not my girlfriend. From beginning to end, I've only had you in my heart." Jason's voice was completely frank.

He looked at me deeply and asked, "Sue, can't you see my heart even now?"

I didn't know how to answer.

Seeing I wouldn't answer, a flash of disappointment crossed Jason's eyes, but he didn't say much more. He lowered his head and said, "It's getting late. Let me take you home."

The car fell into suffocating silence.

I turned my head several times to steal glances at Jason's handsome profile.

That familiar face - the one that had appeared in my dreams hundreds of times.

But now, even though he was sitting right beside me, I didn't dare reach out to touch him.

"Jason." I took a deep breath and said as calmly as possible, "There's been no chance for us for a long time."
