Chapter 304

Chapter 304

The person is my high school classmate, Daryl Fields.

I remember him because his family ran a business back then and had some money, and he always used that to bully poor students in our class.

And I was one of the people he bullied.

After school one day, I was rushing to my part-time job to earn living expenses when Daryl blocked my way with several of his followers.

"Sue, look how tired you are now. Studying at school during the day isn't enough, you still have to work part-time at night. How much money can you even make doing that?"

Daryl's disgusting gaze lingered on me, and a nauseating smile appeared on his face:

"Why don't you be with me? If you're with me, I'll make sure you live well. Forget everything else - I'll cover your tuition and living expenses."

I didn't agree. I frowned and refused:

"No thanks. I may be poor, but I'd rather rely on my own efforts to make money than sell my body."

Daryl curled his lip. He waved his hand, and his followers immediately surrounded me.

They mocked me.

"Daryl taking an interest in you is your good fortune! You don't actually think just anyone can catch Daryl's eye, do you?"

"I suggest you have some self-awareness!"

Daryl looked at me even more smugly.

My gaze swept around discreetly, finally landing on a broom not far away.

I don't really remember clearly what happened after that.

I only remember grabbing the broom, gripping it tight, and charging forward with gritted teeth.

Back then, I couldn't eat enough and was always thin and weak.

Daryl was counting on me not being able to fight back against them, bringing just two followers to force me.

But he really underestimated a person's will to survive.

That day I stumbled away, leaving behind Daryl and his two friends lying on the ground in the alley, crying out in pain.

Pulling back from my thoughts, I slowly curled my lips:

"Daryl, when I had nothing back then, I had the courage to fight back against you. Do you think I'd be afraid of you now?"

I tilted my head: "Are you tired of living?"

Daryl seemed to remember something. His body shook violently, and fear flashed through his eyes.

I knew what he was thinking of.

That day, the broom broke when I hit him. What also broke was his leg.

"Daryl, don't be scared. Everyone here has your back now!"

Luke stepped forward and patted Daryl's shoulder.

Only then did Daryl snap back to reality, gritting his teeth and nodding.

He stared at me, his voice carrying suppressed resentment and deliberately fake choking:

"Sue, I admit that back then I was young and hot-headed, which caused a lot of conflicts between us. But all these years, I've thought about you constantly."

"I know you have someone new in your life now, but I'm begging you, please don't abandon me like this. I really can't live without you!"

As he spoke, tears rolled down Daryl's face.

Everyone's eyes focused on him, and many people couldn't help but condemn me.

"I really didn't see this coming - she's actually this kind of person."

"She probably hooked up with Mr. Cooper and couldn't wait to break up, right? And she even got rid of the baby. They really do say the most poisonous heart belongs to a woman."

Hearing these voices, Daryl cried even harder.

He clutched his clothes tightly, walking toward me step by step:

"Sue, haven't you thought about me even once all these years? Haven't you thought about our child who never made it into this world?"

"He didn't even get a chance to be born and see this world before you got rid of him. How could you be so heartless! Don't you have nightmares when you sleep at night?"

Daryl pressed me with question after question, and the reporters' cameras were practically in my face.

Looking past Daryl, my gaze fell on Cora, who was barely hiding her smugness, and my heart filled with mockery.

This is really interesting.

To make my life difficult, Cora and her group really went all out!

They must have gotten a lot of support from people behind them, right?

Otherwise, knowing Cora as I do, she wouldn't be capable of pulling this off.

"Mr. Fields, please stop. Come any closer and my bodyguards will throw you out."

I spoke calmly.

The bodyguards who had been hidden in the crowd immediately came to my side, protecting me in the middle.

Ever since finding out I was pregnant, Jason has been incredibly nervous.

Although he didn't stop me from continuing my business, he arranged for more bodyguards to follow me.

I don't like being obviously guarded, so I asked the bodyguards to keep their distance as much as possible.

Seeing there were actually bodyguards, Daryl froze.

His eyes flickered with guilt: "What's this supposed to mean?"

I smiled:

"Everything you just said was recorded by surveillance. Now I'm going to ask you a few questions. If you can't answer them, a court summons will be sent to your house."

As Daryl's face gradually turned pale, I drew out my words and said:

"First, in your story, when did we get together? Since you're acting like you love me so much, you must remember clearly when we got together, right?"

Daryl immediately answered with a time:

"Sue, is this a test?"

I didn't answer and continued asking: "Where did it happen?"

Daryl: "Houston, on the food street behind our high school."

He answered without hesitation, as if it really happened.

People looked at me with increasing contempt, as if I were a loose woman.

I wasn't flustered at all, completely unfazed.

If they think this kind of scene can intimidate me, they really underestimate me.

Over the years working hard out there, I've been through plenty of embarrassing situations.

I continued asking: "What time was it that day? What was the weather like? What did you prepare when you confessed to me?"

Daryl's hand clutching his clothes tightened, and his answers became stuttered:

"It was... around 4 PM. The weather was nice. I... I brought you lilies that you like..."

I pulled out my phone, searched for the weather forecast from that day and time, and showed the screen to everyone.

"On the day Mr. Fields says had nice weather, it was pouring rain. And also..."

"And also, Sue doesn't like lilies."

A cold voice cut in.

My eyes lit up, and a smile naturally appeared on my face: "Honey, you're here!"

Jason, wearing a dark gray trench coat, strode over.

His handsome face was cold, radiating a frightening chill.

Daryl was so scared he instinctively stepped back two steps.

Jason walked straight to my side, wrapped one arm around my waist protectively, swept his intimidating gaze across everyone present, then looked down at me gently:

"I rushed over as soon as I got the news. Why didn't you message me about something this big?"

I leaned against him, my tone lazy:

"This isn't really a big deal. Just some bored people trying to get attention from me. You're usually busy, I can handle it myself."

"Anything about you is a big deal."

Jason lowered his head and kissed my forehead, then his gaze returned to Daryl, demanding coldly:

"So you're the one who just said my wife was once pregnant with your child?"
