Chapter 224
"Okay, Ms. Blake."
I nodded and grabbed the files before heading to DT Corp.
The receptionist at DT Corp was an old friend. After a quick registration, I went straight upstairs.
Just my luck,as soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I saw Elizabeth coming out of Brian's office.
"Sue? What are you doing here?"
Elizabeth's eyes widened, looking at me with some wariness.
I'm already married, why is she still acting like this?
I helplessly waved the files in my hand, "Our company is currently working with DT Corp. It should be pretty normal for me to be here."
"Doesn't your company have anyone else? Why does it have to be you?"
Elizabeth wasn't happy.
She pressed her lips together and muttered quietly, "Brian is finally being nice to me, and you keep showing up in front of him. What if Brian's old feelings for you come back?"
My mouth twitched, "Miss Perez, you really don't need to complain about me right to my face."
Elizabeth said, "Then send someone else!"
She said it like I wanted to be here.
If it weren't for the fact that our company doesn't have many people to begin with, I wouldn't have come here at all.
But since it was my boss Ophelia's request, I had to come.
I sighed helplessly, trying to keep my voice calm, "Miss Perez, I'm only here for work."
Elizabeth was still unhappy.
She stared at me warily, as if I was here to steal her man.
Brian's secretary noticed what was happening and walked over.
"Ms. Wilson, Mr. Ethan is still waiting for your files."
I looked at her gratefully and took the chance to escape Elizabeth's scrutiny, I quickly walked into Brian's office.
"Mr. Ethan, these are the files Ms. Blake asked me to deliver. I'm here to go over the details with you."
I said calmly.
Brian sat behind his desk. Hearing this, he only lifted his eyelids slightly and waved his hand, "No need, I trust your work."
I shook my head gently, "Mr. Ethan, I'm not your assistant anymore. We're just business partners now."
Handing over all the file details to the other party obviously wasn't a smart decision.
When Brian heard this, he curved his lips in a half-smile and looked at me.
"Would you lie to me?"
I pressed my lips together lightly and didn't say much more.
Some words, when spoken, feel a bit too intimate.
Just as the atmosphere was getting awkward, someone knocked on the office door.
Elizabeth's voice came from outside, "Brian, I made you some coffee."
I breathed a sigh of relief and said with a raised eyebrow, "Looks like Mr. Ethan should be more cautious around others after all."
Brian looked at me quietly, eventually, he took the files.
Elizabeth pushed the door open and came in.
Her eyes quickly moved between Brian and me. Only after confirming there was nothing going on between us did she relax.
"Brian, I feel bad that you work so hard, so I specially made you coffee. You don't think I'm being a bother, do you?"
Elizabeth moved close to Brian, looking at him eagerly.
Brian reached out and patted her head, but he didn't say much.
I looked away, I thought to myself that today really wasn't a good time to come.
Fortunately, there were no issues with the files.
After finishing the work, I was about to leave.
Just as I turned and walked out of the office, Elizabeth caught up with me.
"Sue! Wait for me!"
The corners of my mouth twitched weakly, when I turned around, I still put on a professional smile.
"Miss Perez, is there something else?"
"Can you teach me how to make coffee again?"
Elizabeth looked a bit embarrassed, "What you taught me before, I don't think I learnt it well. Brian doesn't say anything, but I can tell he doesn't really like the coffee I make."
I looked at her, puzzled, "He doesn't like it but he drinks it anyway, isn't that enough?"
"No, no, no! That's not enough! I want to make coffee that Brian actually likes!"
Elizabeth shook her head vigorously.
Me: "Why do everything according to his preferences? Why don't you respect your own preferences too?"
But Elizabeth was especially determined.
"I'm making coffee to make Brian happy in the first place. I want to do my best."
One day I'm going to lose it with these people who are obsessed with love.
"Sorry Miss Perez, I've already taught you all the coffee-making techniques. No matter how many times I teach you, it'll be the same."
I shook my head, "Besides, I'm on work time right now. My boss didn't hire me to teach you how to make coffee."
"How can you be like this? I'm sincerely asking you for help!"
Elizabeth stamped her feet anxiously.
"I have to go now. Goodbye, Miss Perez."
I was too lazy to keep arguing with her.
In my view, Elizabeth was totally obsessed with love.
The kind whoof love that she couldn't live without Brian.
What she was willing to do for Brian was her business and had nothing to do with me.
So it was best not to drag me into it.
Very annoying.
Ignoring Elizabeth's anxious voice behind me, I quickened my pace to leave.
It was time to get off work.
I packed up my things and left. Just as I got to the underground parking lot, I saw a familiar figure leaning against my car door.
"Honey?"
I looked around in surprise, "What are you doing here?"
"I was passing by, so I came to leave work with you."
Jason stepped forward and took my bag, then lowered his head to kiss me.
I quickly blocked him, "Don't—we're still outside. It wouldn't be good if someone saw us."
Jason lowered his eyes, looking a bit hurt.
"You can go see Brian today, but you won't let me kiss you?"
I forgot there was another love-obsessed person here.
I sighed helplessly and reached up to touch Jason's abs.
"Kiss, kiss, kiss—but let's do it when we get home, okay?"
"But you went to see my rival today."
"That was for work. Other than work stuff, we didn't say anything."
Jason's thin lips pressed together slightly, but he got in the car first.
I followed and sat in the passenger seat.
Before I could relax, Jason leaned over and kissed my lips.
"Honey."
He called out in a clingy voice.
His low, magnetic voice made my ears and heart tingle.
I instantly lost my temper and let Jason deepen the kiss.
Only when I couldn't breathe did I push him away with a red face.
On the drive back, I finally realized what had happened.
"So you knew I went to DT Corp today, and you came specially to intercept me?"
Jason drove while lazily raising an eyebrow, "Did that happen? How come I don't know about it?"
If he didn't know, that would be the problem!
I pouted.
The car kept moving forward. I looked at the scenery outside the window and soon noticed something was wrong.
"Aren't we going home? Why are you driving to the shopping district?"
Jason nodded, "I saw online that when spring comes, you need to buy new clothes. Let's go look at some new clothes now."
New clothes?
I actually don't lack clothes to wear, and I don't usually need many clothes.
Seeing me silent, Jason added, "My wife is so beautiful, of course she should wear the best."
