Chapter 122
After I got Brian to his room, I realized something was seriously wrong with him.
It wasn't like Brian had never been drunk before, but he'd never been like this, burning hot all over like he was on fire, constantly saying he felt hot and thirsty.
"Mr. Ethan, are you okay? Should we go to the hospital now?" I asked softly.
I didn't want to admit it, but I could tell Brian didn't seem drunk. It was more like he'd been drugged.
For me, the best choice right now was to leave quickly.
Otherwise, when Brian lost control of himself, I'd be the one getting hurt.
But I didn't know who had drugged him or what their purpose was.
I couldn't just leave Brian here like this.
"Mr. Ethan, can you still hear me?" I waved my hand in front of Brian's eyes, asking tentatively.
Brian's face was flushed, his eyes unfocused as he looked at me.
I sighed and was about to call for emergency help.
Just then, the room door suddenly burst open.
"Sue!" Jason rushed in.
I turned around in shock to see Jason storming in with a terrible look on his face, grabbing my hand.
I looked down and saw the room key in his hand.
How did he have the room key?
For some reason, seeing him here made me feel a bit guilty.
Even though nothing had happened.
"Sue, what did you give Brian?!"
Elizabeth could tell at a glance that something was wrong with Brian. Her eyebrows shot up as she glared at me viciously.
I peeked out from behind Jason but didn't step forward. "He had too much to drink."
Seeing how angry Elizabeth looked right now, I wasn't about to walk into trouble.
"Too much to drink? He looks like this?"
Elizabeth's eyes widened, looking at me with fury.
"Do you think I'm stupid?"
"I accompanied Mr. Ethan to the reception today. He only drank, didn't eat anything. If it's not from drinking too much, what else could it be?"
I said calmly.
"You..."
Before Elizabeth could finish, Mia jumped in.
"Of course you drugged Brian!"
"Right! Exactly! You were by Brian's side the whole time. You drugged Brian to steal him away! Bitch!"
Elizabeth's eyes lit up immediately, nodding repeatedly.
She got more and more worked up, and despite Jason still standing in front of me, she rushed forward to slap me hard.
I hid behind Jason and couldn't help commenting, "How could Brian be clean?"
Elizabeth's expression suddenly froze, then she got even angrier. "What are you talking about?! Even if Brian has some past scandals, those are all in the past. He's my fiancé now! What gives you the right to drug him?!"
She looked up at Jason, blocking my way, frowning, her tone full of disapproval. "Mr. Cooper, you saw it too, right? Sue is just a player. She's not worth protecting. Are you still going to stand in front of her?"
Jason turned to look at me.
His eyes were deep and unreadable. I couldn't help feeling nervous.
Jason had come in with them just now.
Would he...
Before I could think further, Jason reached out and patted my head, his voice calm and certain.
"It wasn't her."
"...What?" Elizabeth thought she'd heard wrong.
"I trust Sue. She's not that kind of person," Jason said.
"The evidence is right here! Mr. Cooper, are you still going to take her side?" Elizabeth couldn't believe it.
I peeked out from behind Jason again, looking at Elizabeth helplessly. "Miss Perez, calm down first. From the moment you came in until now, I never said Mr. Ethan was drugged. And how did you know Mr. Ethan's room number?"
Elizabeth instinctively looked at Mia.
I raised an eyebrow and continued, "Miss Ethan, you were so sure I drugged Mr. Ethan from the moment you walked in. Is it because you've done this kind of thing before, or was the spiked drink Mr. Ethan had specially prepared by you?"
Mia fell silent. "I..."
Elizabeth finally caught on, whipping around to glare at Mia. "You used me?!"
A flash of panic crossed Mia's face as she waved her hands frantically. "No, I didn't!"
"Then how do you explain knowing right away?!"
"I..."
"Bitch!"
Elizabeth rushed up to Mia and slapped her hard across the face!
Mia's face whipped to the side, and immediately furious, she lunged at Elizabeth.
"I was nice enough to bring you here to catch them in the act, and you dare hit me!"
The two of them cursed at each other while pulling hair and slapping faces.
As they fought more and more viciously, I was hesitating about what to do when Brian, who had been lying on the bed complaining about the heat, suddenly sat up.
The room instantly fell silent, everyone's eyes turning to him.
Brian's face was completely red, his brows furrowed tight. His fingers irritably tried to unbutton his shirt, and after failing several times, he just ripped it open!
Buttons popped off and fell to the floor.
Brian's gaze turned toward us.
Jason glared back at him, gripping my wrist hard and pulling me toward the door.
I had just taken out my phone when I nearly tripped, almost dropping it.
Dragged outside the room, I quickly stopped Jason. "Jason, wait! Let me call a doctor first!"
Brian's condition was really strange. I had no idea what kind of drug Mia had given him. The effect was incredibly strong.
The way Brian had looked at us just now made me feel like he wasn't a normal person anymore.
But a beast consumed by desire.
"You're still worried about him?" Jason said through gritted teeth.
I looked at him helplessly. Just then, the doctor's call connected, and I had no time to deal with him as I quickly explained Brian's condition to the doctor.
Jason was clearly angry, and despite my still being on the call, he pulled me toward the elevator.
By the time the elevator arrived, I'd finished my call.
Glancing at Jason's dark expression, I put away my phone and walked into the elevator, standing beside him.
The elevator doors closed, and we were surrounded by suffocating silence.
I thought about it and softly explained,
"Brian is my boss. He's very uncomfortable right now. As his assistant, calling a doctor is my responsibility."
Jason glanced at me, his lips curling into a cold smile. "Quit your job, then it won't be your responsibility anymore."
But the doctor was on the way, so Brian should be fine. Plus, Elizabeth was there watching over him.
I felt a bit more relieved.
Jason seemed dissatisfied with my silence.
He moved two steps closer, completely covering me in his shadow.
I stepped back twice, looking at him warily. "What are you doing?"
