CHAPTER NINE

Jr passed his final examinations with distinction, and he was the top achiever among his colleagues. On the day of graduation, he invited his mother and his girlfriend Hope for each student was represented with two tickets to invite a friend or family. Hope was so excited and thrilled by being introduced to his parents. His mother fell in love with her when she saw her, she imagined herself having such a beautiful daughter in law.

Graduates had to wait for almost four months before they could be hired in government offices. He knew those months were his opportune moments of destroying the life of Alijha.

He rested assured of the victory because he knew the gods were behind him. He had to come up with a false reason for a four-month abroad trip to convince his mother without instilling in her any doubt. His big challenge was getting into contact with Alijha and convincing him why he had to go to the camp.

Two weeks after graduation, he told Hope about his trip, and it took away her peace, but she couldn’t do anything about it. She had to trust that it is for good that he had to go there.

During their usual time of supper, Ninny was cheerful as always, and Jr said with a smile, “Mom, I will be flying out of the country next week.” Mary was shocked. She placed the water glass gently on the table.

She looked at him for a moment and remembered her late husband's last words, ‘I will be going out of the country next week,’ and he never returned home alive. This memory traumatized her for a while. She wondered what kind of curse has befallen her family.

“Where will you be flying to?” She asked with a shrieking voice.

“Remember what they said during our orientation… about the Ireland Internship? I have applied for it, and I have been hired as an intern.” He said while softly rubbing his palm behind her back just to soothe away the worry.
