Chapter 75 Stole My Fiancé

Chapter 75 Stole My Fiancé

Elena

He sighs as I rise to my feet. I put on my dress and panties before leaving the room. When I get there, Kiara is standing in the kitchen, drinking coffee with the biggest smile on her face.

“What?” I ask.

She shakes her head.

“Nothing.” She’s still smiling.

“Ki—”

“You have no idea how much I want to tell you that right now,” she groans. “But I’m holding it in. Because I’m an amazing friend.”

“Thanks,” I say, rolling my eyes as I head to the fridge.

Kiara is standing behind me when I turn around.

“Please tell me you're not just fucking here.” I notice her worried expression and consider her words. Then I remember what Roman looked like, what we said to each other, and I shake my head.

“No, it's more than that, I say sincerely.”

Rose's birthday is probably the only thing the De Lucases go out of their way to celebrate. When Ricardo was alive, he did everything his little girl wanted. Standing in the middle of a lavish party in the hotel ballroom, it's clear that Roman feels the same way.

The birthday girl walks around the room with Enzo, talking to the guests with a bright smile on her face. I arrived a few minutes ago after dropping Cassie off at her house with a nanny. She had to go through a few processes before she could be hired, including a background check.

Roman wasn’t taking any chances. I’m still a little nervous about leaving her alone with someone who isn’t family, but she’s in the De Luca mansion, which is heavily guarded. I’m sure she’ll be fine.

I spot Kiara almost immediately. She’s in what appears to be a heated conversation with Michael. When she looks up and notices me, she gestures for me to come over.

“Hey,” I say. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah, it’s fine,” she assures me, sipping her champagne.

I turn to Michael, who looks great. epno in a black tuxedo.

“Are you still mad at me?” He sighs.

“No, I’m not mad at you anymore, Elena. Just a warning: your brother is in here somewhere. And he’s drunk as hell, so stay away.”

I tense up at that.

“Why did you even let him come here?” Kiara asks.

“I’m sure this will come as a surprise to you, Ki, but I can’t control everything he does.” With that, he leaves. I turn to my friend, wide-eyed. Michael never gets mad. Never.

“He’ll be okay,” Kiara says, waving her hand before throwing back her drink.

I feel a presence behind me and turn to find Roman. Something flutters in my chest as I look at him. He kisses me on the lips, oblivious to the fact that we’re in public. When he pulls away, I catch the worried look on his face.

“Are you okay?” I ask.

“Yeah, I’ve just had a rough day,” he replies, gently stroking my cheek. “You look amazing.”

“Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself.” He gives me a half-smile.

“Do you want to leave? I saw Tony, and I’m not in the mood for confrontation. Especially not here.”

“Of course,” I tell him.

I find Rose and, after wishing her a happy birthday, Roman and I walk out the doors of the party. He offers to ask me out on a date when we meet two people standing just inside the door of the party. Ivan De Luca’s face is filled with rage.

And he’s not alone; there’s a woman next to him. Someone I don’t recognize, even though she’s looking at me with a murderous glare right now.

“So this is the whore you left me for, Roman,” she says. Her eyes slide over my body, assessing me. Her expression is one of disgust as she looks at me.

I blink. "And you?"

The woman laughs shrilly. "You broke off my engagement, and you don't even know who I am?"

Oh. So, this is Bianca Zanetti.

The last time we talked about her, Roman told me he had set up a meeting with her father to discuss the terms of their deal. I think he's already done that. My gaze shifts to Ivan. The two of them are an odd bunch. I'm sure my father has already told him that our marriage will never work.

“What are you doing with her, Ivan?” Roman demands, his jaw tense.

“We realized we had a common problem,” Ivan says with a sharp smile. “Apparently, my cousin stole my fiancée.”

Roman tenses next to me.

“I was never your fiancée,” I say with a sneer before looking at Bianca. “And you and Roman were never engaged. He made a deal with you as a subject. It didn’t work out. Get over it.”

Seriously, where do these delusions come from?

Bianca’s green eyes narrow. “I heard you got knocked up and that's the only reason he's with you. Trapping a man with a child is medieval. And desperate.”

Oh, hell no, she didn't.
