Chapter 91
She sighed and began to pack up the clothes that fell off the laundry basket. She walked into a room, dropped the basket, and walked back to the living room where he stood, trying to rehearse his lies.
"There! This was the meeting I attended. I remember taking this picture to send to you but I couldn't because there was so much to do at that moment. Gosh! Olivia, you have to trust me, please"
She looked at his screen and then at him wondering how on earth Chester would think she would suddenly believe him after making up a lie. She was no longer a child nor the same Olivia he knew years ago. The Olivia Gael standing before had become a changed woman. For over 5 years, every morning, she stood before her mirror affirming that Chester was wicked, he had killed her and her children, and she reminded herself of her revenge on him every single day.
'Chester was presently lying to her.' She reminded herself. There was no way he would show up suddenly, trying to get to her emotions and she would believe. It was too late to do that.
"Olivia..... you are not listening to me"
"Chester, I lied. I'm not your ex-wife okay? I own Adriana and yes, she's not your child. I'm sorry for coming into your life. You should leave, and return to your fiancee and your wedding, the entire world is waiting for you, you cannot disappoint them" she stated and turned to leave.
He held her wrist, stopping them.
She looked at him with so much disgust. As expected, she fought against his grip and walked to the kitchen.
"You are lying and I know that. You are Olivia. I will tell you something. I've always felt there was something extraordinary about you and today you proved it"
"I got the poem from your best man and the poem I lied about you telling me on our first day, it was through Roy, he helped me with that"
He chuckled at her silliness. "Oh, fuck you! You know Roy and you still lie about not being Olivia?" He asked with a soft chuckle.
She was silent.
"You knew the password to the basement. No one ever knew about the basement aside from you, of course. The library, you knew about it because you suggested it to me 7 years ago and recommended that we have one. You were able to identify Sally's folder because you supervised how the library should be arranged. I saw it, I saw the hints but I didn't want to believe it. I didn't ever think you would be alive and even if you did, I didn't think you would come to me"
"That was all a coincidence"
"How long, Olivia? You have been waiting for this day, haven't you? Why are you hiding? Why are you trying to deny that fact now?"
"Shut the fuck up, Chester Aldo Perkins!" She commanded, with her eyes closed.
He took a deep breath and panted softly. "Right, go on. I badly want to hear you say something"
She turned slowly to him, her eyes welling up in tears. "Chester, she began softly. I unleashed my deepest secrets. I exposed my scars and let you break down my emotional walls. I let you in; I allowed you to break me within. My fragile heart wasn't a match for your cold one; I stood no chance. The soul I left bare was left with so much despair. You were my first heartbreak collision. My comfort was in the hands of someone who couldn't understand the root of my depth, but the only therapy I knew. My heart was on the sleeve of someone who wouldn't give me an emotion to spare but allowed me to shed many tears-my beauty in the eyes of someone who couldn't behold. My soul was crushed to find your currency was too expensive. You always wanted more than I could give, but you failed to reciprocate. I'm not surprised; you never played fair. Like I always say, I saw the red flags but I told myself, I was only colorblind"
"Olivia...."
"Leave, Chester"
"What did you hear that day?"
"Your voice, it was so loud and clear, it was the voice of you kissing, cuddling, and romancing Harlow. I heard your soft moans. I heard........"
"Wait" he cut in, scrolling through his phone. "Do you mean this?" He asked, playing an audio.
"How did you get this?" She asked, with a bit of surprise written all over her face.
He relieved a sigh. "I thought as much. I found this recording in Harlow's phone some years ago and I asked her why she had it. She told me the way I moan is funny and we all laughed about it. I found it strange but I didn't know she would use it this way"
"Wait....what do you mean?" She asked softly.
"Yes, what you think it is. It was all planned by Harlow and I bet she ordered the men to kill you"
"Hold on! I think I can remember seeing an application on her phone. It was named voice changer"
"Yes! That is it. We solved the puzzle. She used the recording to deceive you and used the voice changer to make you feel like I killed you"
"Oh, my!" She exclaimed, falling to her knees. "No, this is not true"
"Were you aware Harlow was hitting on me after you introduced her to me?"
"But you fell for it anyways, are you not getting married to her?"
"Because that is the wish she told me you wanted!"
Olivia turned to him in shock.
"What do you mean?"
"I received a handwritten note from Harlow, it was written by you. Your wish was that I end up with Harlow. All my life, since your demise I've been living trying to fulfill your wish, Olivia"
"No, no, no" she whispered, shaking her head aggressively. "No!" She screamed out, letting the tears flow freely. "This is impossible, I don't want to believe this"
He crouched down to her and moved her closer to his embrace. "I'm sorry for everything that happened. I'm sorry for not being there to protect you"
