Chapter 101
"Olivia.... Do you not want that?"
She shook her head. "I don't think I'm ready for that"
"Look, it's okay. I'm here for you now, no one will harm you"
"No, you don't understand....."
"Hmm? Keep talking, I'm listening"
"They will all come at me again and I don't think I'm ready for that. I will be abused, dragged, badmouthed... No, Chester, I'm not ready for that. I will be called names! I was your maid, do you know what people will say?"
"When did you begin to worry about the media? And have you forgotten? I'm Chester Perkins! Why do you have to be so worried when you are the victim here?"
"I am the victim to you but not to others"
"Jeez, you are overthinking. Come here" he moved her closer to his embrace. "I'm here for you, okay? And I promise, I will try as much as possible not to let your fears happen. I love you, Olivia and that is all that matters, not what some lowly strangers say, okay?"
She nodded, hiding her face in his clothes.
"You matter and that is all I know"
"When will we be having this Press Conference?"
"Tomorrow"
"What?? Already?!"
"Why not? We have to start digging out Aldo's secrets as soon as possible and before we do that, we need the audience's full support. We do not know about Aldo's plans. He has just been silent."
"I told you not to come. Do you not have to be at work?" Olivia quarreled when Gemma arrived at their mansion.
Gemma smiled. "I have to look after the kids"
"That is a lie because Chester already got that covered"
She laughed embarrassingly. "I'm here to cheer you up and throw punches at anyone who tries to attack you"
As they arrived at Perkins Hotel, Chester took her hand and nodded, assuring her that it would be fine. She turned to Gemma who stood behind her wearing the brightest smile. "You rock babe!" She cheered.
Olivia chuckled and held Chester's arms tightly as they walked in. The cameras turned to them, the Reporters gathered throwing questions at them already.
Gerald and Gemma walked behind them, while a few of Chester's guards took their position in chasing some of the Reporters away.
They arrived at the podium and Chester took the mic, still holding Olivia tightly. He started from the paper before him.
"Dear esteemed Press,
It is with both gratitude and a sense of profound revelation that I stand before you today to share a story that defies the bounds of possibility and redefines the strength of the human spirit.
Five years ago, the world mourned the tragic loss of my beloved wife, Olivia Perkins. Her absence left an irreplaceable void in my heart and in the hearts of countless others. We grieved, we remembered, and we moved forward, forever haunted by the specter of what could have been.
However, fate has a way of weaving the unexpected into the tapestry of our lives. Today, I am humbled and overjoyed to announce to you all that Olivia, against all odds, has returned to me and to us.
Yes, Olivia, whom we believed to have perished in that fateful accident, has emerged from the shadows of uncertainty. Her journey back to us has been one of unimaginable courage and resilience, a testament to the enduring power of love and hope.
Yet, as miraculous as her return may be, it comes with a profound twist. The Olivia who stands before you today bears the marks of a journey fraught with pain and transformation. Through the marvels of medication, she has undergone extensive plastic facial surgery, rendering her appearance altered from the Olivia we once knew. But make no mistake, the essence of her being remains unchanged—the same spirit, the same soul that captured our hearts all those years ago.
In embracing Olivia's return, we are reminded of the fragility of life, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring power of love. As we embark on this new chapter together, let us celebrate the miracle of her return and the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.
I ask for your continued support and understanding as we navigate this remarkable journey of reunion and rediscovery. Thank you."
He ended, squeezing her hands playfully.
"If we are not mistaken, is this not your daughter's nanny?" One of the Reporters asked.
He laughed. "That is a funny story but Olivia had to disguise as a nanny to pass the message of her existence"
"Chairman Perkins, we are aware of your engagement that was publicly announced a few years ago and we are also aware of your wedding with Harlow that was canceled a day before the wedding. What do you have to say about that?" One of the Reporters asked, bringing out a small jotter.
"Is Olivia not selfish to come into your life now and ruin her best friend's wedding?" Another asked.
She looked at him, tears were welling up in her eyes. He locked their fingers. She could see it in his eyes, behind his smiles, how much he found the questions tough.
"I would like to respond to your questions" she offered.
