I couldn’t wait to wake up the following morning and see the newspaper apparently Nicol was in just a rush as we both jumped in the shower at the same time. “You’re in a hurry this morning?” I laughed at her as I washed her back. “Well, I need to see the newspaper and I’ve realized I have a Gala to finish planning and a wedding to plan in only a month I don’t know how I’ll manage.” “That is why you have an assistant.” “Yes, an assistant that is on the verge of giving birth.” “You still have Jason.” “His your assistant I can’t just take him away from you.” “I’m sure I’ll manage for the next month without him being permanently by my side.” “You sure?” “Yes, sweetheart this Gala and our wedding our wedding most of all is more important to me than anything else.” “Thank you, Nicolas.” She got on her tip toes and kiss me, then she turned around and walked out of the shower.
I knew I’ll be ready before her she still had to do her make-up and hair so I took my time. When I was finally done and walked into the walk-in closet, Nicol had the New York Times laid out on our island in the dressing room. There was a huge photo of me and Nicol it was a candid pic one neither of knew about but it was a beautiful photo and at the bottom of the page a photo of Nicol’s ring. “Oh, wow they even got the ring in.” I said as I looked at it. “Sorry I couldn’t wait I had to go and get it.” “No problem. I was just as excited to see the article.” The head line read “Nicolas Brown reaching new Heights.” Further down in the article it said “Not only is Nicolas Brown reaching new heights in his new business endeavors but the most sort after bachelor is engaged and that is not all folks his expecting with his lovely fiancé Nicol Green and they will be getting married next month. Sorry ladies Nicolas Brown is off the market for good.” Nicol touches my chest “Off the market for good, are you ready for that Mr. Brown?” She teased me. “I was ready for that the day you stepped back into my life Nicol.” I pulled her to me and kissed her, luckily for her she didn’t have any make up on or that would have been off as I devoured her.
I stopped and let her stand, “Well I guess we should get ready to face the music.” “Oh, I’m ready.” I got dressed and Nicol was still busy. “You want to drive in together?” “No, it’s okay you go so long you can’t wait for me.” “I will any time.” “I know but no, you go ahead get the things done that needs doing before Karen and Anton comes and ruins your whole day.” “Oh, my angel.” I said bending down kissing her neck. “Those two won’t be able to ruin my day and I hope you don’t let them ruin yours?” “Oh no I won’t.” “Well then I’ll see you at the office remember to eat something.” “Yes, Nicolas I won’t forget.”
When I got to the kitchen Nikki was getting ready to go with me to school. “Your ready sweet pea.” “Yes” she said softly, when she looked at me, I could see she’s been crying the whole night. I wanted to tell her to stay home but then again this will not be the first time her heart will be broken and she won’t be able to stay at home every time. I pulled her towards me and gave her a hug. “It will be okay sweet pea.” “If you say so.” She sniffed. She grabbed her bag and Rika walked with her to the lift. When we got in the lift I told Nikki, “The paparazzi might be at school today sweet pea.” “No, I really don’t have the energy for that.” “Just keep your head down that’s all.” “What happened?” she asked as we got in the SUV. “Nothing it’s actually a good thing, the papers report on your mom and my engagement and the fact that we are getting married in a month.” “Jeez a month doesn’t it take like a year to plan a decent wedding?” “Don’t you have any faith in your dad?” “I do but the bit I know is the venue is always a problem.” “Well, that is why we couldn’t answer your calls yesterday your mom and I was at the Plaza.” “The Plaza like in the Plaza in Bridal Wars?” “Not sure what you are talking about but yes I’m sure there is just one Plaza.” “Oh my gosh dad that’s amazing.” “So, you’re happy?” “Off course I am, mom and I watched that movie so many times is it really so beautiful inside as on the movie?” “That my dear daughter you’ll have to ask your mom.” “Oh, I will.” We stopped at the school and as predicted the paparazzi was at the school and when they saw my SUV they came running for some photos of me and probable Nikki. Rika grabbed her bag and ran with Nikki into the school I’m sure they didn’t get a photo of Nikki, which was good she was most definitely not in the mood.
When we got closer to my company building Geoffrey said “Nicolas you have paparazzi here as well.” “Just Park in the underground parking and let Herman know Nicol should be ready.” “Will do.” Geoffrey Park and I got out when the lift opened at my floor everyone got up and was applauding me, I was feeling silly so I bowed and said “Thank you Thank you very much.” But in an Elvis Presley accent. They even had flowers. “Keep those for when Nicol gets in.” “Oh, we will.” One of my guys said. I walked to my office and Jason was waiting for me with a cup of coffee, Jason however was not alone Kayla was standing by his table. “Morning Nicolas.” Jason said. “Morning Jason, Kayla.” I took my coffee and said “Can I see the two of you in my office?”
