Chapter 13
Andrew's POV
I knew what Carlos was up too, but I also knew Tara was not strong enough to face him like this but she insisted. I watched him closely from where I sat, the obsession and just in his eyes when he spotted Tara was clearly readable.
.
“Do you think our marriage ended because you signed the divorce paper? He asked her, I frowned, he wasn't supposed to tell her that, I hit my hand on my desk..
“Mr. Anderson! Do not ask the security to have you thrown out. “ I added, adjusting myself, from where I sat down. He tire slowly then went to sit.
“I don't care, what you think it's the right way but you have to back out from the deal.” I stood there looking at Carlos as he made a complete fool out of himself in front of Tara.
Tara was quiet the whole time, not knowing exactly what to say, I'm sure she would question her life decisions. I fell back on my chair.
“You have to make me move.” I folded my arms as I twirled my leather chair from the left to the right.
He frowned, then tossed me a slip, I glanced at it, it was a bank cheque. Tara scoffed, looking at him in disbelief.
“There's more where that came from if you must know.” He added, to think he thought he could buy my acceptance was alarming.
My face twisted into a deep scorn as I watched him turn to leave.
“I am not leaving the Denex deal for you, Carlos.” he stopped on his trail, then looked at me then at Tara.
“You should tell him more about me.” He says to Tara, the scare in her eyes was visible, was the abuse that bad? I clenched my fist, as I let all the surging anger wash over me.
I turned to Tara,
“ This is why I didn't want you to come. You look like you've seen a ghost.” I said to her, she sighs then said
“Carlos is a dangerous man. Why don't you just give up this one deal for peace to reign?” I immediately frowned, was she taking sides now with him.
“Excuse you?” I asked, she stood up then walked over to the seat across my desk.
“I don't mean it that way?”
“Then how do you mean it?” I said to her, my tone rising a bit.
“We need this deal to fix the problem of the sinking ships and this is the only way we can get such a huge amount.”. I added,
“And moreover, I can lose to him of all people” I said with a glitch of pride in my voice.
“Is there something you're not telling me?” She asked, I looked away, I hid the fact that he was here.
What more could I tell her?
'That he's threatening to expose her?” I plan on taking care of that. But the look she gave me, felt like she knew I was hiding from her.
She stood up,
“I will leave for my office then.”
“Tara,” I called but she walked away instead, shutting the door behind her. I sighed then picked up my phone, I think it's time Leo returns
……..
The day finally came to an end, everyone was gone, it was past 8pm. I picked up my keys from the desk, as I stacked the document back by the side of my desk. Picking up my briefcase, I closed the doors heading to Tara's office but she was nowhere in her office.
Her office looked empty with her tables cleared,
“Did she leave already? A deep frown cut across my face as I headed downstairs to see a figure which looked just like Tara. She took by the company gates, trying to flag down a taxi.
“Tara?” I called, at first she tried to ignore me then turned to me.
“You shouldn't be talking to me.” My face went pale in confusion, what did I miss?
“I don't understand?”
“What if someone sees us?” She then says, was she really taking this ‘’acting like we don't know each other’ seriously. We live in the same damn house. Well, apparently I'd return to my home eventually.
“Yes, I am serious. Did you think I was joking earlier today?” She asked,
“But it's late and you'll probably not even get a taxi going to our estate.” I added, trying to convince her but she wouldn't bulge.
“Tara, I'm back” someone said to her, she turned swiftly to him, I looked up to see him, his face looked so familiar.
“Goodevening Sir.” He greeted me, I looked at him still confused.
He smiled then said,'' I'm Dave by the way from the Resource department” He said, the smile not wiping out his face. I frowned,
“Are you going our way?” Dave asked, I immediately shook my head.
“No, you two should go ahead..it's late already.” I said then turned to Tara.
“Good job today at the meeting, Ms. Tara.* I said with clenched teeth.
“Thank your sir.” Then says, “I'll be head home now with Dave”
She was going home with a random guy now? Before I could saying anything, Dave flagged down a taxi,
“The taxi is here,” he says to Tara, she entered without even looking at me,
“Bye Sir,” he said entering the taxi and zooming off, the smoke the car remitted choking me as I stood there. I took out my cell phone, dialing her number but she kept busying my call.
“This is not fair, Tara.” I said to myself as I watched the car disappeared out of my sight.
“We'd meet at home,” I said to myself, walking to my car, the driver had already turned on the ignition. As he watched the drama earlier in confusion.
“Is ma'am Tara not joining us?” He asked. Is he blind? Didn't he see her board a taxi home? I was still angry.
“Take me home!” I yelled at him in anger, as I banged the door.
