Chapter 381 Kennedy's Thoughts
Sloane held up her glass and toasted the shareholder who had questioned her. "Sir, we all understand that business is like a battlefield. Occasional failures are inevitable, but the key is how we respond and what our next plan is."
Several cunning old shareholders smiled.
Anyone can say nice things.
Sloane had always looked up to Elizabeth as her role model, so she just put up with these shareholders' difficulties.
This time, Sloane didn't let Stefan drink for her.
Fortunately, the alcohol this time wasn't like last time when Dean deliberately got high-proof liquor.
One day, she would kick these shareholders out of the company.
At nine o'clock, Stefan helped Sloane walk out of the karaoke club. The night breeze outside helped clear her head a bit.
Stefan opened the car door and carefully helped Sloane into the car, then walked around to the passenger seat.
The driver Lanny was in charge of driving.
Sloane, sitting in the back seat, quickly felt drowsy from the alcohol. She leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes, falling asleep without realizing it.
The car arrived at The Robinson Mansion.
Lanny looked at Sloane, who seemed to be asleep in the back seat, and asked Stefan in a low voice, "Ms. Johnson seems to be asleep?"
Stefan turned to look at the back seat. Sloane had her eyes closed. He tried calling out, "Ms. Johnson?"
Sloane didn't respond. She was really asleep.
Stefan opened the car door and got out. He went to open the back door, bent down at the car entrance and called inside, "Ms. Johnson, we're here. Are you okay?"
Sloane nodded groggily. She opened her eyes slightly, her gaze somewhat unfocused, clearly not fully awake yet.
Stefan called a few more times. Seeing that Sloane's eyes were still unfocused, he straightened up and turned to ask the butler who had just come out of the house, "Please call a maid over."
Daron had only been at The Robinson Mansion for two months. He nodded and went to call a maid.
Sloane vaguely seemed to realize she was home and needed to get out of the car. She rubbed her temples and groggily fumbled to get out.
Stefan saw she was actually trying to stand up inside the car and quickly leaned in to press down on her shoulders.
At that instant, an accident happened.
Her lips accidentally touched Stefan's cheek.
Stefan froze for a moment, but he quickly pulled out of the car.
Sloane didn't notice what had just happened.
After a second of shock, Stefan quickly recovered. Seeing the maid had already come over, he quickly moved aside.
The maid helped Sloane out of the car and walked into the house.
"Daron, I'll leave Ms. Johnson to you. I'm heading out."
Since he had delivered her home safely, Stefan could go home now.
Lanny drove Stefan back.
When Stefan got home, he saw Kennedy sitting in the living room with a cold expression. He looked at Damon with a questioning look.
What was wrong with Kennedy?
Damon wasn't sure why Kennedy was angry either. He shook his head helplessly.
When Kennedy saw Stefan return, she was about to blow up and scold him, but when she saw Stefan's tired face, she immediately shut her mouth. "Go to bed. We'll talk about it tomorrow."
She hurried back to her room.
Damon quickly followed her in.
He sat down next to Kennedy. "Honey, what happened? Why are you suddenly so angry?"
Kennedy reached out and picked up a purple box from the table, her face cold. "Open it and see."
"Isn't this the gift Dione gave you today?" Damon muttered to himself. Could it be that Kennedy was angry because the gift wasn't good?
He tried to reason with her. "The gift represents the child's thoughtfulness. Whether it's expensive or not, there's no need to be angry."
As he spoke, he opened the box.
A moment of silence.
Damon knew his stuff. The necklace in the box looked quite expensive.
He picked it up to look at it. The style was elegant and beautiful.
So why was Kennedy angry?
"This necklace is quite nice. Why are you so angry?" Damon didn't understand Kennedy's thinking.
Kennedy laughed in anger and rolled her eyes at Damon. "The necklace is nice, but Dione comes from a middle-class family. Can she afford such an expensive necklace as a gift? Do you know how much this necklace is worth? At least tens of millions of dollars!"
Damon said, "So what you mean is?"
Kennedy glared at Damon angrily. "What do I mean? Of course Stefan bought this necklace for Dione to help her maintain relationships!"
Damon finally understood why Kennedy was angry.
He was more open-minded and tried to persuade her. "No matter who bought it, in the end it's a gift for you. Just take it as the child's filial piety."
Hearing this, Kennedy got even angrier. "What filial piety? She's vain. If she doesn't have the means, why put on airs? She should just honestly give a gift she can afford! She hasn't even married into this family yet and she's already showing vanity. The days ahead are long!"
Kennedy was really fired up.
Damon sighed helplessly and put his arm around Kennedy's shoulder. "Think about it, Stefan has been independent since childhood and can handle his own affairs. Since he chose Dione, we should respect his choice."
Kennedy didn't want to continue talking to Damon for now.
All night, Kennedy and Damon didn't speak again.
Until dawn, when Kennedy and Damon came out of their room, they saw Stefan sitting on the sofa in a suit.
"Mom, Dad, I'll take you to meet Dione's parents. Dione sent me a message last night, but you were already asleep, so I didn't disturb you."
At this moment, Seraphina and her family of four were preparing to move back to Port City Garden.
Yesterday, Seraphina told Elizabeth and the others about meeting Kennedy and Damon. Timothy decided to first observe whether Kennedy was really that harsh.
If she just looked down on their family background, that would be easy to solve.
But if she was the type who liked to cause trouble, then Seraphina simply shouldn't marry into the family.
Of course, this was currently just Timothy's thinking. Whether Seraphina would marry or not, he couldn't use forceful means to interfere.
"Brandon, are you ready? We're leaving." Elizabeth turned around, didn't see Brandon, and could only call into the house.
She had been too excited singing last night, and her voice was still hoarse today.
"Elizabeth, protect your voice. I'll call him."
"Brandon!"
"Coming, coming." Brandon put on his fluffy backpack and quickly ran out of the house. He nimbly climbed into the car, and as soon as he sat down, he hugged Seraphina's arm. "Seraphina, hug."
Seraphina pulled Brandon onto her lap. "What did Brandon go back to get?"
Brandon touched his backpack and shared quietly, "Bread from Mr. Bynum."
The car arrived at Port City Garden.
The family returned home and sat on the sofa waiting for Stefan and his family to come over.
At nine-thirty, Stefan also drove to Port City Garden.
"Mom, Dad, we're here." He unbuckled his seatbelt, got out and opened the door for Kennedy. Damon opened his own door and got out from the other side.
Kennedy got out of the car. Wearing haute couture, she looked at the building with a critical eye.
The environment was decent, but it couldn't compare to the Hensley family's detached villa.
Stefan led Kennedy and Damon into the building. As visitors, they needed to register with the manager.
"Dione's family lives on the 18th floor." Stefan pressed the elevator button and let Kennedy and Damon enter first.
Seraphina was about to call Stefan to ask where they were when she heard the doorbell.
"Mommy, I'll get the door. It's probably Stefan and his family." Seraphina went to open the door, and sure enough, Stefan's family was outside. She smiled, "Mr. Hensley, Mrs. Hensley, please come in."
