Chapter 363 He Is Really Sick
Jane's gaze fell on Seraphina with unmistakable mockery. "I really admire your courage."
Seraphina froze for a moment, but quickly regained her composure and replied gracefully, "I admire my courage too. But this also proves that my inner beauty is better than your outer appearance."
She smiled faintly.
Jane acted like she'd heard the biggest joke ever. She glanced at Seraphina's cheap clothes. "You're so poor, and your inner beauty is better than my outer appearance? You? Are you here to be funny?"
Stefan's gaze turned cold. He looked at Jane, his tone icy. "Ms. Robinson, what's funny is you—no manners at all, mocking a stranger."
Jane was startled by his cold stare, but still tried to fight back defiantly.
Unfortunately, neither Stefan nor Seraphina wanted to argue over something so pointless with the crazy Jane.
Seraphina took the clothes to pay, and Stefan and Seraphina left the clothing store.
On the way back, every time the car stopped at a red light, Stefan would turn to look at Seraphina.
Seraphina looked at Stefan helplessly. "I'm not upset. Her mockery is just jealousy. Someone like me can still find such a handsome, smart boyfriend—of course she's jealous."
Seraphina felt secretly pleased inside.
She just didn't let Stefan notice her happy mood.
Sometimes, she did have a bit of a mischievous streak.
Stefan dropped Seraphina off at Port City Garden and walked her upstairs before quietly turning to leave.
The first thing he did when he got home was call his mother Kennedy.
Kennedy was playing cards with three ladies when she received Stefan's call.
This was quite rare. Kennedy put on her Bluetooth earpiece. "Hello, Stefan. What's the occasion for calling home?"
Stefan said warmly, "Mom, I'm bringing my girlfriend home to meet you this Saturday."
Kennedy immediately stopped playing cards. "Stefan, hold on a second."
She excused herself from the three ladies, then left the living room for a guest room. "Stefan, did you say you're bringing your girlfriend home this Saturday?"
Stefan replied, "Yes, Mom. I think it's time for you to meet her."
Kennedy couldn't help but laugh, quite excited. "That's great news! How did you two meet? Where is she from?"
Stefan answered, "We've been together since college. Our relationship is stable. Dione is from Border Ridge City. She's very easy to get along with."
Kennedy heard the joy in Stefan's words. Since she was Stefan's college classmate, that meant she must be an excellent girl. "Good, we'll prepare everything and wait for you both to come home."
They hung up.
Kennedy walked out of the guest room happily and returned to the living room, sitting back down at the mahjong table. "Sorry for the wait. Let's play another round."
Seeing Kennedy so happy, the three ladies couldn't help but ask, "Mrs. Hensley, is there good news?"
Kennedy was beaming. "My Stefan is bringing his girlfriend home to meet us!"
The three ladies congratulated her.
One of the ladies felt a bit disappointed inside—she had hoped Stefan would get together with her daughter. She pretended to be curious and asked, "Which family's daughter is Stefan's girlfriend?"
Kennedy smiled. "Which family she's from doesn't matter. The Hensley family values character. The girl is Stefan's college classmate."
They all knew that getting into Stefan's university required passing multiple tests, and students who got in were all smart.
Meanwhile, on the living room sofa.
Seraphina also told Elizabeth and the others about going to Majestic City this Saturday.
Seraphina, wearing a face mask, asked, "Mommy, what gift should I give Stefan's mother?"
Elizabeth, wearing the same face mask as Seraphina, said, "You could give her a necklace. I bought one at an auction recently—you can take it to give to Stefan's mother."
Seraphina nodded.
Sitting next to Seraphina was Brandon.
Brandon also had a face mask on his little face. Kids are just naturally curious.
He was curious about face masks, and Elizabeth didn't stop him.
Brandon felt thirsty. "Mr. Robinson, your baby is thirsty."
Timothy, the only one not wearing a face mask and quite idle, heard Brandon calling out that he was thirsty and snorted coldly, ignoring Brandon.
It wasn't Elizabeth saying she was thirsty—Brandon actually expected him to bring water. What wishful thinking.
Brandon thought Timothy was so inconsiderate. "When you're old, I won't pour water for you either."
Seraphina quietly scooted her bottom away, distancing herself a bit from her silly brother Brandon who loved challenging Timothy's authority.
Timothy picked Brandon up and carried him off to wash his face, making Brandon get his own water.
"Daddy! I'm not done yet!"
"Daddy, don't spank me! I'll go tell Mommy!"
"Calling your mommy won't help!"
Elizabeth stayed silent.
Meanwhile, Jane went home full of anger, and after hearing more bad news, she became even more upset.
She paced back and forth, holding her forehead. "Sloane, are you saying Seraphina isn't dead? Are you sure?"
Sloane nodded. "Jane, sit down and talk."
Jane sat down, looking somewhat unstable emotionally. "Where is she now?"
Sloane shook her head. "I don't know. Still having people look into it."
Just then, Tommy walked into the living room humming a tune. Seeing Sloane and the others there, he raised an eyebrow. "Sloane, why did you call me back home?"
Before Sloane could speak, Jane exploded like a lit powder keg. "Tommy, can you stop going out partying all the time? Can you be more ambitious? Seraphina isn't dead—she's not dead, do you understand?"
Tommy frowned. He looked at Sloane, and seeing her nod, he asked, "So where is she now?"
Sloane shook her head and said calmly, "Don't know. Still looking into it."
Tommy said "okay" and checked his phone messages—someone was asking him to go drinking.
He stood up. "If there's nothing else, I'm going drinking. Won't be back tonight. Sloane, don't wait up."
Jane pointed at Tommy as he left again, stamping her foot in anger. "How can Tommy be like this?"
Sloane sighed and pulled Jane to sit down. "Jane, Tommy has his own way of thinking."
Jane grumbled unhappily, "Sloane, you just spoil him. Look at him—all he does is have fun all day. He doesn't think about avenging Mom at all. And now those people in our circle, I know they're all laughing at Tommy and me behind our backs."
Sloane patted her hand and said gently, "Don't be angry. This isn't the first day you've known Tommy."
Jane tried to calm herself down and nodded. "I know. By the way, I ran into Mr. Hensley at Global Mall today. Guess what I saw?"
Sloane smiled lightly. "What did you see?"
Jane snorted coldly. "I saw him with his girlfriend. His taste is really special—his girlfriend is very fat. I'd estimate she's at least two hundred pounds."
Sloane was also shocked. Stefan had such good height and looks—how did he find such a girlfriend? "Are you sure? Two hundred pounds?"
Jane nodded and said mockingly, "I'm sure. They admitted it themselves."
Sloane was actually a bit curious too.
Based on Stefan's attitude every time he mentioned his girlfriend, it showed Stefan really liked her.
Sloane sighed. "He even submitted his resignation to keep his girlfriend from being jealous."
Jane didn't expect Stefan's resignation to be real, and that it was actually to keep Seraphina from being jealous.
Jane said coldly with disdain, "He's really sick."
