Chapter 316 Only the Porridge on the Ground in His Eyes

Chapter 316 Only the Porridge on the Ground in His Eyes

For the past couple of days, whenever Delilah had free time, she would sit on the bench outside the hospital entrance.

Her eyes were fixed on the cars coming and going.

Deep down, she secretly hoped to see Timothy again.

Owen's brain surgery had been successful, but she still had work to do and couldn't take too much time off. She had to return to Solstice in two days.

A black sedan pulled up at the hospital entrance.

Delilah's heart beat faster. Her eyes locked onto the car, full of hope.

However, when the door opened and a middle-aged man stepped out, her hopes were instantly crushed.

She looked away in disappointment.

"He's not coming," she muttered to herself sadly.

Sarah came out looking for Delilah. Seeing how lost Delilah looked, Sarah walked over worriedly and sat down. "Delilah, you haven't been yourself these past two days."

Since Owen's condition was relatively stable now, Sarah finally had time to talk with Delilah.

Delilah looked down at the ground. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Sarah, I've fallen for a man."

Sarah asked curiously, "Who? Do I know him?"

Delilah nodded. "You know him too. I want to ask you something. I... I want to tell him how I feel. What do you think?"

Hearing Delilah's words, Sarah wondered if it might be a male colleague from the company.

In Sarah's memory, Delilah had always been cheerful and carefree. She rarely saw her looking so troubled.

Sarah looked at Delilah and asked seriously, "Tell me first, who is this man?"

Delilah hesitated, but finally made up her mind. "It's Mr. Robinson."

Sarah's eyes widened instantly. She never expected Delilah to like Timothy. She said without thinking, "No, you can't."

Delilah lowered her head, her cheeks slightly flushed, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Why not? Mr. Robinson is single now. Are you taking her side just because Ms. Penrose helped you? But they're already divorced. After divorce, they're both free."

Sarah didn't know how to respond to Delilah's question.

Sarah said gently, "Delilah, I think Mr. Robinson still has feelings for Ms. Penrose. If you really confess to him, you might just embarrass yourself."

Delilah looked up. "I just want to try. If it doesn't work out, at least I won't have regrets."

They sat quietly for a while, the air filled with silence.

Sarah felt conflicted. She said softly, "Delilah, think it through carefully. I really don't think Mr. Robinson is right for you."

Delilah smiled helplessly. "Sarah, I know you mean well, but I still want to tell him. Can you help me?"

Sarah asked, "How can I help?"

Delilah didn't beat around the bush. "Can you tell Joe for me? I want to see Mr. Robinson, just once."

Sarah pressed her lips together. She didn't want to help with this. If she helped Delilah, she would feel like she was betraying Elizabeth.

Now she was caught between Delilah and Elizabeth.

Sarah's hesitation disappointed Delilah greatly.

Delilah said sadly and disappointedly, "Sarah, you won't even help me with this small favor? I just want to see Mr. Robinson once and say a few words to him face to face."

Sarah looked at Delilah's disappointed expression, feeling torn inside.

Delilah smiled bitterly. "Forget it. If you don't want to help me, then don't."

She just wanted to see Timothy once and say a few words to him, but Sarah wouldn't help her because of Elizabeth.

This made Delilah feel that she didn't matter as much to Sarah as Elizabeth did.

"By the way, I've decided to go back to Solstice the day after tomorrow to work," Delilah said.

"Okay," Sarah replied.

The once inseparable best friends seemed to have developed a crack between them at this moment.

Delilah left the hospital and returned to her hotel.

Meanwhile, Sarah walked into the hospital's inpatient department. She took out her phone and opened Joe's contact.

Her finger hovered over his phone number.

In the end, she didn't call Joe.

At that moment, in Whispering Town.

Zara carried a bowl of meat porridge into the storage room and placed it on the floor.

"Echo, get up and eat," Zara said coldly, without any warmth in her voice.

After Seraphina's fever incident, Zara and Milan had probably realized they couldn't let Seraphina die.

Zara decided that once Seraphina recovered, she would give her three meals a day.

However, Zara was already planning that once Seraphina got better, she would still have to do chores. After all, someone had to do the housework.

Anyway, Seraphina would just be doing housework—it wouldn't kill her.

Seraphina, lying on the mat, was curled up like a small kitten, quiet and still.

She smelled the meat porridge, and her stomach made a weak sound.

She slowly crawled up.

Seraphina held the bowl with both hands, but because her hands were weak, the bowl almost slipped.

She had to put the bowl back on the floor and eat the porridge one spoonful at a time with a small spoon.

"Remember to wash the bowl when you're done," Zara said. Seeing that she could eat by herself, she dropped this line and left the storage room.

Seraphina licked the spoon. She acted as if she hadn't heard Zara's words, her eyes focused only on the porridge on the floor.

The room fell silent again, with only the soft sounds of Seraphina eating.

Until she grew up.

Her room would always be this small storage room.

Sunlight from outside came through the small window, falling on her tiny body. An insignificant little girl—no one here would care about her.
