Chapter 292 Very Good, Very Good!
"Joe, where's Timothy?"
Elizabeth asked softly while eating the lunch Joe had brought her.
She was sick, and based on what she knew about Timothy, he wouldn't just leave in the morning and not show up again.
Something must have happened.
Joe raised his hand and rubbed his forehead, trying to figure out how to bring it up.
If he told her and Elizabeth's condition got worse, and Timothy wasn't around, that would be big trouble.
Elizabeth didn't press Joe for an immediate answer. She forced herself to eat until she was about seventy percent full, then stopped.
No matter what, she needed to take care of her health first.
Joe quickly cleared away the dishes.
Only then did Elizabeth look up at Joe. "Go ahead, don't hold back."
Whatever could make Joe this hesitant must be serious.
Joe respectfully poured Elizabeth a glass of water, then said, "BOSS is at the police station. He needs to stay there for a while."
Elizabeth's slender fingers rubbed against the glass. "What happened?"
Joe glanced at Elizabeth and lowered his eyes. "We caught a plastic surgeon named Alvin. BOSS suspects he might have done plastic surgery on Ms. Penrose. We only had suspicions, no evidence, so we used some bad methods."
Elizabeth instantly stared at Joe with a terrifying look in her eyes, asking through gritted teeth, word by word, "And the result?"
Joe sighed inwardly. He took out a tablet from his bag, pulled up a simulated photo of what Seraphina might look like after plastic surgery, and handed it over to Elizabeth with both hands.
"We still don't know exactly what she'll look like after the surgery wounds heal. This is a possible post-surgery appearance based on Alvin's description."
Right now, Rolf was probably hiding somewhere with Seraphina, waiting for the plastic surgery wounds on her face to heal.
With this kind of surgery, if you're not careful afterward, it could get infected. In serious cases, it could even be fatal.
Joe knew this, Timothy knew this, and Elizabeth knew this too.
Elizabeth's fingers trembled slightly as she touched the photo on the screen.
Seraphina's unfamiliar yet familiar little face came into view, making her heart instantly tighten.
Seraphina's eyes were still so bright, but her features had been changed almost beyond recognition.
"Joe, we can't search for her in a big way," Elizabeth instructed in a choked and hoarse voice. "I'm worried that man will hear about it and do something terrible again."
Joe nodded. "I understand. I'll tell them to search carefully."
Elizabeth wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. "How long will Mr. Robinson be at the police station? What happened to that Alvin?"
"The legal team is already handling BOSS's case. Alvin had one arm and one leg disabled. According to our country's laws, BOSS causing serious injury carries a sentence of three to ten years in prison. But Alvin has probably done this kind of illegal plastic surgery before. Once the police find evidence, the legal team will try to get BOSS's sentence reduced to surveillance."
Surveillance still allowed some personal freedom—you wouldn't be locked up in prison but would stay at your original residence, though you couldn't leave the country or leave your residence.
Elizabeth gripped the glass tightly, her knuckles turning white. "I understand. Thank you for your hard work, Joe."
Seeing that Elizabeth could still stay calm, Joe felt relieved. "This is what I should do. Please take care of your health."
Elizabeth thanked him and told Joe he didn't need to spend time coming to the hospital to see her anymore.
After Joe left the hospital room.
Elizabeth called Lyle. "Lyle, do you know anyone who can help find someone? They need to keep their mouth shut and can't make a fuss about it."
Lyle was clearly stunned on the other end of the phone, then responded, "I'll arrange it. Who are you looking for?"
Elizabeth said, "My daughter has been taken away."
Elizabeth quickly forwarded the photo to Lyle. "Remember not to make a fuss about it—it'll alert this man. Also, their faces should still be in the bandaged stage after plastic surgery, so they won't look like the photo right now."
Lyle was instantly alarmed, his expression serious.
Elizabeth continued, "One more thing—help me keep an eye on the Potts family and Armando's situation."
Lyle sensed the seriousness of the situation. "I'll arrange for people to investigate secretly."
After hanging up, Elizabeth closed her eyes and let out a soft sigh.
She needed to recover quickly. She couldn't let herself be a burden to others while sick like this.
And she couldn't cry.
Until Seraphina was found, she wouldn't allow herself to be weak.
---
Joe called Elizabeth every day to report on Timothy's situation and the latest progress in finding Seraphina.
Currently, no one except lawyers was allowed to visit Timothy.
Elizabeth cooperated with the doctors' treatment every day.
Jacob was now in charge of bringing her three meals a day, and also bringing documents for her to sign and reporting on company matters.
Elizabeth finished signing today's documents.
Jacob handed a file to Elizabeth. "The head of Luminary Agency knows Hugo, the brother of Maddox's current wife. They were college classmates."
Elizabeth flipped through the file, her brow furrowed.
As she read the materials, she quickly analyzed them in her mind. Combined with Chris and the others' recent plans to sell company shares, she soon figured out their intentions.
What a scheme! Elizabeth took a deep breath. If Maddox and his group succeeded in their plot this time, the company would likely face bankruptcy, and the shares in her hands would become worthless!
"Mr. Grant, contact Chris and the others. We'll meet tomorrow at two o'clock."
If they wanted to scheme against her, Elizabeth, they'd better wait and see who ends up scheming whom.
---
"Elizabeth hasn't contacted us in so long. Has she figured something out?" Chris asked worriedly.
Maddox frowned. "Let's wait a few more days. If she doesn't buy the shares from us, we'll sell them to someone else."
He still felt somewhat reluctant. If they could sell the shares to Elizabeth, her losses would be even more devastating.
Just then, Chris's phone rang.
He answered the call.
Jacob's voice came through. "Hello, Mr. Chris Sherman. I'm Ms. Penrose's assistant. Are you free tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock? My boss would like to meet with you to discuss something."
Chris gestured at his phone to Maddox, silently mouthing Elizabeth's name.
He pressed the speakerphone button before saying, "Is Elizabeth only meeting with me, or...?"
Jacob on the other end answered, "Not just you. She's also meeting with Mr. Rocco Sherman and the others."
Chris pretended to think for a moment, then agreed. "Okay, two o'clock tomorrow afternoon."
After hanging up, Chris looked at Maddox and smiled. "Elizabeth wants to meet with us tomorrow. Looks like she's decided to buy the shares from us."
Maddox couldn't help but slap his thigh twice and laugh loudly. "Excellent, excellent! The fish has finally taken the bait!"
