Chapter 280 Freya's Curse
Faced with Freya's sudden outburst of curses.
Elizabeth didn't know what to say. She walked to Russell's bedside, bowed deeply, and then left the hospital room.
Timothy also bowed before following Elizabeth out.
Neither Timothy nor Elizabeth looked at Freya, who was still cursing at Elizabeth.
Freya's angry shouting continued behind them.
At the doorway of the hospital room, Elizabeth glanced at Herschel, "I'll leave the funeral arrangements to you."
Herschel nodded.
Elizabeth felt heavy-hearted, tears welling up in her eyes.
Timothy picked up Elizabeth, placed her in the wheelchair, and gently comforted her, "Elizabeth, don't overthink it. This has nothing to do with you."
He listened to the cursing coming from the hospital room, his eyes turning cold.
He pushed Elizabeth to the hospital room that had already been arranged, "Do you need to transfer to another hospital?"
Elizabeth shook her head, a trace of exhaustion showing in her eyes, "No need."
Her voice carried a hint of hoarseness and weariness.
Timothy said with concern, "Okay, then we'll stay here."
Elizabeth was too tired. She fell asleep as soon as she touched the hospital bed.
Timothy sat in a chair with his eyes closed, resting. Thinking about Freya's words pointing at Elizabeth earlier, he frowned with disgust.
Elizabeth was sleeping, frowning from time to time, clearly not sleeping peacefully.
Timothy sat beside her, opened his eyes to look at her tired face, and reached out to hold her hand.
Meanwhile, Rodolfo had been trying to get Freya to be reasonable.
He took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. Looking at the emotional Freya, he said, "Freya, Elizabeth is your biological daughter. How can you say such things about her? What era are we living in? You still believe in such unscientific things! You need to understand that Russell's car accident was an accident, not anyone's fault, and certainly not Elizabeth's fault."
Freya's eyes were filled with resentment and sadness. She said in a trembling voice, "Rodolfo, you don't understand. These things aren't coincidences. Since she came back home, our family hasn't had a single day of peace."
"Russell got in a car accident, my health is getting worse and worse. All the misfortune started from the day Elizabeth came back."
Hearing this, Rodolfo sighed, "Freya, you can't put all the blame on Elizabeth. She's already lost so much since childhood. Treating her this way will only cause her pain."
Freya couldn't listen at all. She was immersed in her own grief, covering her face as tears flowed through her fingers, "I really can't accept this. Russell is gone. What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do?"
Vivienne shook her head at Rodolfo, signaling him not to talk about these things for now. Freya couldn't possibly listen to what he was saying right now.
Vivienne always thought Freya was being foolish.
For Russell's funeral, Elizabeth didn't attend because of Freya's hostility.
Timothy comforted her, "We can visit Mr. Nightingale's grave later."
Elizabeth nodded. Freya's hostility toward her was already deep. Going to the funeral would only make the situation more awkward.
After Russell's funeral was completed.
Freya was immersed in grief, and her hatred toward Elizabeth grew deeper and deeper.
Juniper was Herschel's fiancée, and she had been staying by Freya's side these past few days.
She often heard Freya cursing Elizabeth, and felt somewhat gleeful about it.
"Mom, Mrs. Nightingale actually called Elizabeth an unlucky person." Juniper told Aurelia about this when she got home at night, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Aurelia was surprised for a moment, then a smile appeared on her face. She said lightly, "The discord between mother and daughter is good for you and Herschel."
Juniper didn't think too much about it. She simply wanted to see Elizabeth made a fool of.
Juniper asked in confusion, "Mom, why is it good for both of us?"
Seeing that Juniper didn't get it, Aurelia shook her head helplessly, "Herschel is just the manager of the Nightingale Group. He doesn't own many shares. If Russell didn't leave a will, and Freya doesn't get along with Elizabeth, Russell's shares would go to Herschel."
Juniper's eyes lit up, suddenly understanding the benefits involved.
A delighted smile appeared on her face, "That's right! If the mother and daughter don't get along, the shares might go to Herschel."
Juniper and Aurelia were full of expectations for the future.
Aurelia smiled slightly, "So during this time, you need to perform well in front of Mrs. Nightingale and try to win more of her favor."
Juniper said with anticipation on her face, "Mom, I'll work hard!"
Freya had been too heartbroken lately and hadn't taken good care of her body. Her heart and kidneys couldn't take it and she ended up in the hospital.
Juniper listened to Aurelia's advice and rushed to the hospital to personally take care of Freya.
Because of Juniper's actions, she not only won Freya's favor but also Herschel's.
Juniper held a bowl in her hands and urged with concern, "Mrs. Nightingale, I had the chef make your favorite soup. For the sake of your health, won't you have a little?"
Herschel also urged with concern, "Mrs. Nightingale, please eat something?"
Freya lay in the hospital bed, her face looking terrible, her body showing signs of weakness.
She looked at Juniper, a trace of comfort flashing in her eyes, and nodded slightly, "Okay, I'll have a little."
Juniper immediately smiled. She gently blew on the soup, and after Herschel helped Freya sit up, she brought the soup to Freya's lips, "Mrs. Nightingale, take your time."
Freya took a sip of the soup. She looked up at Juniper, "Juniper, you're a good girl. Thank you for all your hard work during this time."
Juniper shook her head, her words carrying sincerity, "Mrs. Nightingale, please don't say that. This is what I should do, as long as your health improves."
After Freya finished a small bowl of soup, Juniper left carrying the thermos.
"Isn't that Elizabeth?"
Juniper, holding the thermos, immediately hurried to follow.
She saw from a distance Timothy pushing Elizabeth, who was sitting in a wheelchair, out of the hospital.
Timothy carefully lifted Elizabeth into the car. A bodyguard quickly folded up the wheelchair, and the car drove away.
Juniper looked at the departing car with confusion, wondering why Elizabeth was in a wheelchair.
Juniper whispered instructions to the bodyguard beside her, "Go find out why Ms. Penrose from Seraphina Enterprises was at the hospital."
The bodyguard nodded and returned to the hospital.
Juniper had just gotten home when she received the information the bodyguard had found out. Elizabeth had undergone surgery and was in the recovery stage.
