Chapter 277 So Terrifying
Alfonso stood outside the door, listening to the video call conversation between Mabel and Albert, a faint cold smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
The room door wasn't fully closed, and when Mabel returned to her room, she had immediately and anxiously contacted Albert. She wasn't wearing earbuds for the video call either, so the sound came through very clearly.
Mabel nodded, assuring Albert, "I really won't interfere with you finding lovers. So are you going to choose to marry me or not?"
Albert had already walked into the VIP lounge and sat down, waiting for Bianca, whom he'd brought along, to go buy bags.
Hearing Mabel's assurance, he said suspiciously, "Ms. Simpson, you're not pregnant, are you? Looking for a father for your child?"
Quite an imagination.
Mabel rolled her eyes. "You're overthinking it. We can do premarital health checks. I'm more worried you already have several illegitimate children out there."
On this point, Albert said proudly and confidently, "Don't worry, I don't have any illegitimate children. I'm not that stupid."
He asked again uneasily, "Really not pregnant? Then why would you choose to marry me?"
A marriage alliance between the Sanchez family and the Simpson family wouldn't be bad, plus Mabel had Timothy backing her.
Mabel smiled sweetly, "Not pregnant. You fit my aesthetic standards, so I chose you."
Hearing this, Alfonso almost rushed in to teach Mabel a lesson.
Albert pondered for a moment, seeming to think over her words, then said quite happily, "You really have good taste."
Mabel: "Yes."
Albert finally nodded. "Alright, I agree to marry you. But I have two conditions."
Mabel nodded. "Go ahead."
Albert cleared his throat. "First, after marriage we each live our own lives and don't interfere with each other's private matters. Second, we must sign a prenuptial agreement to ensure neither of us takes the other's property."
Mabel was very satisfied with these two conditions. "No problem, I can accept those terms."
Standing outside the door, Alfonso lowered his eyes, his slender fingers gripping the gift box in his palm.
He really hadn't expected Mabel to give him such a big surprise.
A complex expression appeared on his handsome face.
Alfonso smiled slightly and deliberately made walking sounds.
Hearing sounds in the hallway, Mabel quickly hung up the video call, her face showing tension.
She turned around to see Alfonso knocking and pushing the door open as he walked in.
Her expression changed slightly, with a hint of unease. "Didn't you leave? Why are you here?"
When did he arrive? Could he have heard what she was just discussing with Albert?
Alfonso walked up to Mabel and handed her the gift box, his tone gentle and low. "Mabel Darling, I forgot to give this to you. It's a gift for you."
Mabel was so nervous her palms were sweating. She took the gift and forced a smile. "Thank you."
Her mind kept replaying the video call conversation with Albert. Had Alfonso heard it or not?
"Mabel Darling, are you hot?" Alfonso placed his fingers on Mabel's forehead, his eyes showing concern. "Not warm, so it's not a fever."
Mabel tried to calm herself down and said with forced composure, "The weather today is just really hot, and I haven't turned on the air conditioning yet."
Alfonso's gaze was deep. He sighed softly. "Mabel Darling, it's easy to catch a cold in this weather. You need to be careful and take care of yourself."
Mabel nodded. "Okay."
Alfonso touched her hair, his voice as gentle as always. "Then rest well. See you tomorrow."
He turned and left the room, his gentle eyes instantly turning cold.
Mabel's mood relaxed a little. He hadn't heard, otherwise he couldn't have just left like that.
That was a close call.
She first went to close the door, then opened the gift box. Inside was a beautiful necklace that sparkled with pink light under the lamp.
It was the type she liked.
After Alfonso left the room, he got into his car and lightly tapped his thigh with his fingers.
He was thinking about Mabel wanting to marry Albert.
Mabel wanting a marriage alliance? Not a chance.
---
This was a small room.
Only a small yellow desk lamp was lit in the room.
The dim yellow light made the entire space feel gloomy and oppressive.
Under the light sat Alfonso, with his handsome features and tall figure, in a chair.
He held a sharp knife in his hand, flipping it deftly between his fingers.
The knife moved like a toy in his hands, completely under his control.
Alfonso's eyes were bloodthirsty as he stared coldly at Mabel, who was about to abandon him.
Mabel was tied to a chair with cloth stuffed in her mouth, unable to speak. She made muffled sounds trying to get him to remove the cloth from her mouth.
Alfonso stood up, walked over to Mabel, pressed the knife against her face, and said eerily, "Mabel Darling, you're so bold."
Mabel shook her head, her eyes full of fear and pleading: No, I'm very timid.
Alfonso seemed to know what she was saying and showed a cold smile. "Really that timid? Then why do you want to marry someone else?"
Tears welled up in Mabel's eyes as she shook her head frantically.
Alfonso's eyes grew even colder. He slowly moved the knife to the edge of her neck, his voice low and dangerous. "Do you know the consequences of betraying me?"
Mabel shook her head desperately, her eyes full of terror.
Her body trembled slightly in the chair, looking incredibly fragile.
Alfonso suddenly laughed. He moved the knife away and said softly, "Although you wanted to betray me, I still love you very much, Mabel Darling."
He gently stroked her face, his tone becoming tender, but his eyes still held a hint of dangerous light.
Alfonso turned his wrist and used the knife handle to gently lift her clothes.
The handle pressed against her delicate skin.
"Mabel Darling, let me see what color your heart is, okay?" After saying this, Alfonso plunged the knife tip directly into Mabel's heart.
---
Mabel suddenly woke up from the bed, breathing deeply. She sat up, her chest heaving.
She looked around in confusion.
"That scared me to death. It was just a dream."
She touched her perfectly intact heart and let out a long sigh.
Dreams are always the opposite of reality.
So scary.
---
The next morning at ten o'clock, Alfonso came to pick up Mabel.
Seeing Mabel looking listless, he asked with concern, "Mabel Darling, didn't you rest well last night?"
Mabel nodded weakly. "I had nightmares all night long."
She stuffed a bite of breakfast into her mouth. Exhausting.
Alfonso smiled slightly, reached out to tuck her hair behind her ear, and said softly, "Baby, did you do something you feel guilty about?"
Mabel's eyes were somewhat evasive. "Don't talk nonsense. How could I do anything to feel guilty about? Who doesn't have dreams? Don't you?"
Alfonso looked into her eyes, the corners of his mouth showing a barely noticeable smile. "Mabel Darling is right. I do have dreams too. I also had a dream last night."
Mabel asked instinctively, "What dream?"
Alfonso narrowed his eyes slightly, his fingers gently tracing across her cheek. "Mabel Darling, you know what? Last night I dreamed that we got married, and after marriage we had three children."
Mabel instantly felt a chill run down her spine. "Your dream is really hard to believe. Who would have three children?"
She stuffed another bite of bread into her mouth to calm her nerves.
Alfonso nodded, his thin lips moving close to her ear. "We only need one child, or we don't have to have any. We can just enjoy our life as a couple."
He added, "Right, life as a couple. Let's not have children."
