Chapter 258 Timothy's New Number
"Our boss is great. As long as you do your job properly and keep your mouth shut."
Robbie said to Jacob in the passenger seat while driving.
Jacob nodded with a smile, showing a harmless expression. "Okay, senior. Don't worry, I can keep a secret."
A moment of silence.
Robbie felt even more worried.
Jacob was Robbie's junior, and they shared the same advisor. The advisor had strongly recommended Jacob to Robbie.
Elizabeth sat in the living room waiting for Robbie to arrive. She was moving to her newly purchased house today.
Mabel kept chattering, "Elizabeth, just stay with me. It'd be nice for us to keep each other company."
Elizabeth touched Mabel's hair. "I don't want to be in your way."
If she stayed here, it would probably be awkward for Alfonso and Mabel to talk.
Soon after, Robbie walked into the living room with Jacob.
"This is our boss, Ms. Penrose," Robbie introduced. "Ms. Penrose, this is my junior Jacob Grant. He'll be your personal assistant."
Elizabeth and Mabel exchanged glances, then looked at Jacob, who was also surprised.
The same thought crossed both their minds - what a small world.
The Jacob standing before them was the same guy who had introduced himself and tried to chat up Elizabeth on the plane.
Jacob showed a bright smile and immediately bent forward respectfully, saying, "Ms. Penrose, hello. You can call me Jacob. I'll work hard to complete any task you give me."
Elizabeth looked Jacob over.
Jacob noticed Elizabeth examining him and stood up straight.
Elizabeth planned to tell Robbie privately later that Jacob wasn't suitable to be her personal assistant.
Jacob probably guessed Elizabeth's intention not to hire him. He spoke up, "Ms. Penrose, please give me a chance. My abilities are definitely worth ten people combined."
Robbie didn't know about what happened on the plane. He thought Elizabeth just didn't want a male personal assistant.
Remembering his advisor's strong recommendation, Robbie still tried to help, "Ms. Penrose, how about a one-month trial period? If he's not suitable, I'll find someone else."
Elizabeth was actually surprised by Jacob's ability to read the situation.
She had just looked him over with a calm expression, yet he had already sensed her intention.
Elizabeth nodded. "One month trial period. I hope you can prove yourself."
Jacob immediately felt relieved and showed a sunny smile. "Thank you, Ms. Penrose. I'll definitely work hard!"
Elizabeth stood up and said to Robbie, "Alright, let's get ready to go. Move those boxes to the new house."
The new house was just a small villa.
Elizabeth personally organized Seraphina and Quinton's things. When she was almost done, her stomach growled.
Elizabeth went downstairs and headed to the kitchen, hearing sounds inside.
She walked in and saw Jacob wearing a sleeveless tank top, skillfully holding a spatula and cooking.
Jacob heard footsteps, turned around, and seeing Elizabeth, smiled. "Ms. Penrose, just one more dish to go."
Elizabeth looked at Jacob for a moment, feeling confused. She hadn't expected her personal assistant to cook.
Jacob quickly turned off the stove and took a plate to serve the food.
He carried the dish out of the kitchen, passing by Elizabeth.
Only then did Elizabeth realize that Jacob was quite tall.
"Ms. Penrose, please try it. If it's not to your taste, I'll improve it."
Jacob said with a smile. He placed the dish on the dining table, then went back to the kitchen to bring out a pot of rice and utensils.
Elizabeth remained calm. If her assistant could cook, she was happy about it.
As she ate, Jacob eagerly waited for her feedback.
"Not bad, tastes great," Elizabeth said generously.
Jacob smiled, his ears turning slightly red. "Thank you for liking it, Ms. Penrose. If there's anything that needs improvement in the future, please let me know anytime."
After saying this, his own stomach growled.
Elizabeth looked up and saw him blushing, paused for a moment. "There's plenty of food. Sit down and eat with me."
Jacob really did blush easily.
Jacob didn't decline. He went to the kitchen to get utensils.
After they finished eating, Jacob efficiently cleared the dishes and washed them.
Elizabeth sat in the living room, talking on the phone with Robbie.
On the other end, Robbie reported, "Maddox's current wife has invited you to a birthday party tomorrow night."
Elizabeth responded coolly, "Okay."
She knew this wasn't an ordinary invitation.
"Tell her I'll be there on time."
Elizabeth hung up. Jacob, who had finished washing dishes, was about to say goodbye and leave.
She stopped him. "Mr. Grant, I'm attending a birthday party tomorrow night. Help me prepare a gift."
Jacob immediately understood this was Elizabeth testing him. He didn't know who the gift was for or how expensive it should be.
"Ms. Penrose, understood."
After Jacob left, he first called Robbie to ask who was hosting tomorrow's birthday party, then Jacob looked up information online about Elizabeth, the Sherman Group, and Maddox.
From the clues, Jacob analyzed one thing - Elizabeth was trying to gain control of the Sherman Group.
Elizabeth was really impressive.
Jacob smiled with his eyes crinkling, having an idea.
Then the gift didn't need to be too thoughtful.
Naturally, the cheaper the better.
Jacob drove to a convenience store, went in and bought a thirty-dollar bottle of no-name perfume, and also bought wrapping paper.
Jacob was quite skilled. He wrapped the thirty-dollar perfume to look high-end.
The gift looked exquisite and elegant on the outside, completely hiding its original thirty-dollar price tag.
The next day, Jacob arrived at Elizabeth's house on time. Before entering, he instinctively straightened his clothes first, then rang the doorbell.
Elizabeth opened the door.
Elizabeth wore a black dress. Even without makeup, she looked strikingly beautiful.
Jacob handed the wrapped gift and the expense receipt to Elizabeth. "Ms. Penrose, this is the gift I prepared."
Elizabeth took the gift and examined it carefully. The gift was beautifully wrapped. She then looked at the expense report.
Thirty dollars.
Elizabeth paused. What a smart kid. She nodded slightly. "Not bad, very thoughtful. The gift is good."
Seeing Elizabeth was satisfied, Jacob was in a good mood, his face turning red again.
Jacob suddenly blushed. Elizabeth, who had been keeping a straight face, inexplicably found Jacob amusing.
Before Elizabeth arrived at the party venue, the women inside were already gossiping about her.
From Elizabeth being the heiress found by the Nightingale family, to her marriage to Timothy, and then their divorce shortly after the grand wedding.
"When she and Timothy had their wedding, it was absolutely spectacular. Even the media covered it extensively," said a woman in a red evening gown excitedly.
"Why did they divorce?" another woman asked curiously.
"I heard it was because during the wedding ceremony, Jane publicly called Timothy 'dad,' and the bride got angry."
"No, that's not the reason. I think it was because that child named Seraphina died."
"I heard Elizabeth angered Mr. Robinson, and that's why they divorced."
Various opinions, all different reasons.
The women were drinking and gossiping downstairs.
Meanwhile, Maddox and the others sat in the upstairs study, quietly waiting for Elizabeth to arrive.
"Are our people ready?" Maddox called to confirm once again.
The person in charge on the other end responded, "Ready."
Rocco crossed his legs and frowned. "If she dares to come to the party, has she made some foolproof preparation?"
After Maddox hung up, he pondered for a moment and sneered, "No matter what preparations she's made, tonight she's destined to return those shares!"
Elizabeth's car steadily drove toward the luxury villa area where Maddox's house was located.
Jacob, sitting in the passenger seat, wore sunglasses at night to make himself look more imposing.
Elizabeth's phone suddenly rang once and then stopped.
She looked down at the caller ID - it was a number from Solstice.
A message appeared on the screen.
[Elizabeth, this is my new number]
Timothy sent the message and handed the phone to Joe. Timothy looked up at the gradually brightening sky and slowly walked into the church.
