Chapter 253 Going to Solstice
They pulled the car out of the sea.
Elara was inside, still buckled in her seatbelt, already dead.
After examining the car, they discovered that someone had tampered with Elara's vehicle.
Based on how Elara had tried to escape with Seraphina, they could deduce that Elara hadn't intended to kill Seraphina.
Elara's original purpose was likely to take Seraphina away and use her for something.
But now, it was too late to say anything.
Elizabeth could only pray every day, praying that Seraphina, swept away by the waves, had been rescued by someone and was alive and well.
In the early morning, sunlight streamed into the room, and the alarm clock on the nightstand kept ringing.
Elizabeth opened her eyes and blinked her dry eyes. She sat up, reached over to turn off the alarm, threw back the covers, and got out of bed.
Today she had to go to The Nightingale Mansion. Some things still needed to be dealt with.
She stood in front of the mirror, tidying up her appearance a bit.
Although her face still showed a trace of exhaustion, she tried her best to look calm.
Elizabeth opened the bedroom door and walked downstairs.
Mabel was in the dining room downstairs. It was rare for her to be up this early.
Seeing Elizabeth come down, Mabel quickly called out, "Elizabeth, have some breakfast first."
Since that incident, Elizabeth had moved from Timothy's place to live with Mabel.
Elizabeth had already asked Robbie to find another place.
"Thank you," Elizabeth said softly. She first went to pour herself a glass of water to soothe her dry throat.
The two ate breakfast in a somewhat heavy atmosphere.
After breakfast, Mabel followed Elizabeth closely to the door. Only after watching Elizabeth get in the car did Mabel silently turn back inside.
Mabel took out her phone, head lowered, and called Timothy. "Mr. Robinson, Elizabeth ate half a bowl of porridge today. She's heading to The Nightingale Mansion now."
Timothy responded in a low voice on the other end. "Okay, thank you."
He hung up the phone.
The morning sunlight streamed through the window, falling on the floor and coating the old wooden floorboards with a golden glow.
Cigarette smoke drifted in the air, mixed with a desolate atmosphere.
Timothy walked into the church.
Timothy's expression was blank. He slowly walked to the statue and slowly knelt down, his forehead almost touching the ground.
After kneeling for who knows how long, he finally stood up, feeling the numbness and pain in his legs.
He walked out of the church and sent Elizabeth a voice message, his voice low and gentle. "Elizabeth, I asked God to bless our daughter."
Elizabeth, sitting in the car on her way to The Nightingale Mansion, listened to Timothy's voice message and blinked her slightly moist eyes.
Timothy didn't get a reply from Elizabeth.
Joe stood behind Timothy. "Mr. Robinson, we've arranged a flight to Solstice at six tonight."
The Nightingale Mansion.
The flowers in the flower beds swayed gently in the breeze.
But the atmosphere at The Nightingale Mansion was shrouded in heavy shadow.
The car stopped, the driver opened the door, and Elizabeth got out, walking into The Nightingale Mansion's living room with heavy steps.
She wore a simple black shirt and black dress pants, her whole appearance solemn.
Seeing Elizabeth, Freya looked uncomfortable. She showed a regretful expression. "Elizabeth, I'm sorry. I didn't know Mrs. Bailey would do that."
Russell's expression was serious. He probably guessed that Elizabeth had come back today because she had something to say.
Elizabeth didn't waste words either. Her voice was very hoarse as she spoke. "I didn't come back today to hear apologies. I came to tell you both that I have no fate with parents. From now on, just act like you never had me as a daughter."
Elizabeth was cutting ties with Freya and Russell.
Hearing Elizabeth say this, Freya's face changed dramatically, her eyes filled with disbelief. "Elizabeth, what are you saying? We didn't know this would happen either. You..."
"Freya," Elizabeth's eyes turned cold. "Freya, you let Mrs. Bailey take my daughter to the bathroom, take my daughter out, which means you trusted her very much. Whether or not you were deceived by her, it's just an excuse."
Tears immediately streamed down Freya's face, not knowing how to explain.
Freya hadn't expected Elara to be a fraud either.
How could she blame Freya?
Elizabeth looked firmly at Freya and Russell, without a trace of hesitation in her eyes. "Mr. Nightingale, Mrs. Nightingale, I'm leaving now."
Elizabeth turned and left without hesitation.
She had no family. She'd never had a family, from childhood until now. What was the point?
Freya's voice trembled as she sobbed, leaning into Russell's embrace. "Honey, I really didn't mean to. I didn't know, didn't know Mrs. Bailey deliberately approached me. I really didn't know. Elizabeth blames me."
Russell's mood was heavy.
Thinking of the sweet and adorable Seraphina, Russell couldn't bring himself to comfort Freya.
After crying for a long time, Freya's heart condition started acting up, and she had difficulty breathing.
Russell noticed and his face changed. "Beau, call the doctor."
Because of Freya's heart condition, The Nightingale Mansion had a family doctor arranged.
Elizabeth left The Nightingale Mansion and got into the car. As the car door closed, this moment was too quiet, and her heart was filled with confusion.
She didn't know what to do next.
Life seemed to have suddenly lost its purpose, and this feeling was a bit scary.
She looked down at the news on her phone and happened to see that the Sherman Group was holding a press conference.
Maddox stood on stage on the screen, full of confidence.
At the press conference, he explained in detail the shipwreck and smuggling incident involving Silicon Express, as well as the company's response measures, demonstrating the company's transparency and determination.
He delivered his speech at length.
Elizabeth tapped her finger on the Sherman Group's logo on the screen.
A flash of coldness and disgust passed through her eyes.
Since she had no goal, she would temporarily continue to focus on the Sherman Group.
She would continue with her original plan to turn the Sherman Group into the Penrose Group.
She hated Jake to death, wishing she could dig up his corpse and whip it.
Elizabeth picked up her phone and called Robbie. "Robbie, arrange a meeting with Chris for me tomorrow."
Robbie on the other end was stunned for a moment but quickly responded, "Okay."
Chris Sherman owned five percent of the Sherman Group's shares.
Elizabeth's stated purpose for meeting Chris was to buy those shares.
However, she knew this deal wouldn't succeed.
After all, Chris and the other shareholders all had their eyes on the twenty percent of shares she held.
Even so, she had to make a show of trying to buy shares.
The car continued driving on the road, the scenery outside flying past.
Sunlight fell on Elizabeth's face, her expression cold and emotionless.
Elizabeth continued speaking to Robbie on the phone. "Tell Maddox's ex-wife that Timothy and I are divorced, and also tell her that I've fallen out with The Nightingale Mansion."
Robbie paused. "Okay, I'll arrange it as soon as possible."
Elizabeth hung up the phone and received a message from Joe. [Mr. Robinson will be flying to Solstice at six tonight]
