Chapter 247 Is It Okay?
Mabel turned around, not looking at Alfonso. "I'm going to see Elizabeth."
Mabel had seen the news and got angry thinking about all those videos with comments mocking Elizabeth.
Elizabeth didn't care about being some Chairwoman!
Alfonso closed his laptop. He walked over and sat down beside Mabel, leaning close to her. "Get up and eat something. We'll go after you eat."
His thin lips landed on her neck.
His hot breath sprayed on her neck. Mabel couldn't stand the person behind her kissing her all over like a dog.
She cursed angrily, "Are you a dog or what!"
Alfonso showed a smile like a well-dressed scoundrel and barked a few times.
Mabel was speechless.
"Get up. What do you want to eat?" Alfonso stood up and asked, looking down at her.
"Wild yellow croaker, duck, big scallops, top-grade caviar. That's it," Mabel climbed up and sighed. "A meal earned with my body, really not easy."
Alfonso raised an eyebrow and went back to work.
Mabel went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. When she came out and walked to the dining table, her eyes scanned a sandwich and a bottle of milk on the table. "When is my order coming?"
"It's already here, on the dining table." Alfonso was replying to emails without looking up.
Mabel looked at the sandwich and bottle of milk on the table. Her eyes widened in disbelief, and she was so angry she almost fell backward.
"That's it? A sandwich and milk?"
"Mabel Darling, you owe me a lot of money. I'm just reminding you of your financial situation. Having a sandwich and milk is already pretty good." Alfonso clicked to send the email, then looked up at Mabel. "Mabel Darling, you owe a lot of money."
Mabel's eyes got moist. She silently picked up the sandwich, tore open the wrapper, and took a bite.
She used to have money to rent Rufus as a boyfriend, but now she couldn't even afford to rent a boyfriend.
Mabel's voice was heavy. "I used to live comfortably, living well off rental income. But now, I'm not only deep in debt, but my assets are negative."
Her words were heavy, pitifully describing her current situation.
Alfonso pressed his lips together, holding back a smile. "If you agree to marry me, my money will be your money."
Mabel shook her head. "No."
At worst, she could borrow money from Timothy to pay it back, but Mabel didn't want to do that now. She was an adult after all.
She answered too quickly. Alfonso's smile disappeared instantly.
Elizabeth came home from the Sherman Group and saw Mabel and Alfonso there too. Elizabeth raised her eyebrows.
They had just arrived not long ago.
She looked at Elizabeth with concern on her face. "Elizabeth, are you okay?"
Elizabeth patted Mabel's hand. "I'm fine. These are all small problems. I'll handle them. Since you're here, why don't you stay for dinner tonight?"
Mabel nodded.
Alfonso nodded too. "Thanks for the invitation."
Mabel glanced at Alfonso, almost rolling her eyes at him.
Elizabeth told them to make themselves comfortable. Elizabeth needed to freshen up first. Timothy put his arm around Elizabeth and they went upstairs.
Upstairs, the bedroom door had just closed.
Elizabeth hung on Timothy like a koala. "Mr. Robinson, let's take Seraphina to the orchard in Skylake District tomorrow."
"Okay." Timothy held her bottom and carried her to the bathroom. He started running water in the bathtub first. "Do you need my help with the Sherman Group situation?"
Elizabeth shook her head and sneered. "Not for now. Let them be happy for a while."
When she said this, her expression was a bit like making a threat.
Timothy chuckled softly. He put her down, his long fingers moving up bit by bit from her slender waist, raising his hand to help her unbutton her clothes.
Her clothes fell to the floor.
Elizabeth pretended to be angry and lightly pounded his chest without much force, just being soft and affected. "You forgot, Mabel and the others are still waiting for us downstairs."
"They're not kids." Timothy scoffed. He whispered something suggestive in her ear. "You want it too, don't you?"
These two had always been in sync when it came to sex.
Elizabeth had been busy lately, and they really hadn't made love in a while.
Elizabeth's cheeks couldn't help but flush.
Timothy laughed quietly.
Elizabeth reached her arms around his neck and closed her eyes.
His warmth lingered on her slender neck, moving downward. Elizabeth let out a few soft moans, her fingers threading through his hair.
Downstairs.
Mabel checked the time. Elizabeth and Timothy had been upstairs for two hours and still hadn't come down. She held the remote and changed the channel again. "Why have they been up there so long?"
Alfonso peeled an apple and handed it to Mabel. Hearing her question, he looked at Mabel meaningfully.
Mabel took the apple and bit into it, glancing at him sideways. "What's with that look?"
"Silly." Alfonso said politely.
Mabel stuffed the half-eaten apple back into Alfonso's hand and sneered. "I'm silly, so I can't afford to eat the apple you peeled."
Alfonso nodded and took the apple to eat it himself.
The first bite he took was right where Mabel had bitten.
He deliberately kept biting that spot while looking at her with his eyes.
As if he were biting her.
Mabel's ears instantly turned red. She said fiercely, "Eat your food, why are you looking at me!"
Alfonso slowly swallowed, his Adam's apple rolling, then replied, "You looked at me, so I looked at you."
Mabel immediately turned her head to watch TV.
Alfonso suddenly closed the distance between them, leaning close to her ear. "Want to know why they've been upstairs so long? Should I tell you?"
Mabel rolled her eyes. "You don't have X-ray vision, how would you know?"
Alfonso sighed inwardly. Mabel was sometimes too innocent.
Mabel realized it now. She really hadn't thought in that direction. It was broad daylight, and they were still downstairs.
Mabel fell silent.
Alfonso saw Mabel shifting her bottom and knew she'd figured it out.
They moved past this topic.
Elizabeth and Timothy both showered, changed clothes, and came downstairs.
Timothy was going to pick up Seraphina from kindergarten first, while Elizabeth and Mabel decided to go to the supermarket to buy groceries.
The car drove toward the supermarket.
Elizabeth looked at the news making fun of her while asking Mabel, "Tomorrow we're going to the orchard in Skylake District. Do you guys want to come?"
"Yes, I've got plenty of time." Mabel nodded.
Just then, Elizabeth's phone rang. She saw it was Russell calling and answered.
"Elizabeth, I saw the news. Don't pay too much attention to those people's comments online. Even without the Sherman Group, there's still the Nightingale Group."
Russell was being practical. The Nightingale Group wasn't any worse than the Sherman Group. Elizabeth could also go to the Nightingale Group. "Do you want to work at the Nightingale Group?"
Elizabeth smiled and said gently, "Dad, thank you for your kindness. I won't care about those malicious comments. Don't worry."
Russell nodded with a pleased expression. "That's right."
Freya signaled Russell to give her the phone. Freya wanted to say a few words to Elizabeth.
"Wait a moment, your mom wants to talk to you." Russell handed the phone to Freya.
Freya said warmly, "Elizabeth, I'd like to take Seraphina to see a circus performance on Saturday. Is that okay?"
