Chapter 219 Similar to the Stewart Family
"Mr. Ayers, I'm really sorry about what happened last time," Elizabeth said sincerely.
Tonight, she had specifically invited Eric to dinner to apologize for the incident at the hotel.
The misunderstanding had greatly affected their cooperation.
Eric sat across from her, his expression stern, but with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
Timothy had actually stepped in for Elizabeth.
Eric looked at Elizabeth and smiled politely, "Ms. Penrose, since everything's been cleared up, it's good that the misunderstanding is resolved."
Though Eric's words sounded nice and polite.
But Elizabeth knew very well that this incident had made him doubt the Sherman Group's management. He would think there were problems with how the Sherman Group was run.
Elizabeth kept her smile and raised her glass, "Thank you for giving the Sherman Group another chance."
Eric raised his glass, "I hope we'll have the opportunity to work together. Cheers."
The two clinked glasses lightly.
The atmosphere finally started to relax.
After dinner, Eric looked at Elizabeth, "Ms. Penrose, tonight's dinner was very pleasant, thank you."
Elizabeth smiled, "Thank you, Mr. Ayers. I really look forward to working together successfully this time. Goodbye."
Eric nodded, "Goodbye, Ms. Penrose."
Elizabeth watched Eric get in his car and leave.
She was planning the next steps in her mind as she bent down to get into her car, then saw Timothy.
Elizabeth was confused.
Timothy put down his book seriously, "I wasn't comfortable with you having dinner alone with another man, so I came here to pick you up."
Elizabeth tried hard to hold back her laughter, saying coldly, "What do you mean? You don't trust my deep feelings for you?"
Timothy raised his eyebrows and pretended to be serious, "Of course I trust you. I'm just worried about you, afraid you'd have a hard time dealing with him and would need me to step in."
Elizabeth looked at his serious expression and finally couldn't help laughing, "Okay, since you're so worried, thank you for coming to pick me up."
She smiled and moved closer to him, holding his hand and saying softly, "Thank you, Mr. Robinson."
Timothy gently squeezed her hand and sighed, "I really want to get our marriage license tomorrow."
The atmosphere in the car was warm. Elizabeth leaned on Timothy's shoulder, feeling the warmth of his palm, "What should we do? I want to get the license too."
Maeve rarely came to Border Ridge City, so naturally Freya would invite Herschel and Emma over for dinner.
Herschel went to the hospital to pick up Emma. Seeing that Emma looked much better than before, he felt a bit relieved.
"You look much better," Herschel said gently.
Emma smiled and nodded, "Yes, maybe after I let things go, my mood improved and my complexion got better too. Herschel, is Maeve easy to get along with?"
Herschel said, "Grandma is actually quite kind. As long as you don't do anything to upset her, she generally won't make things difficult for you."
Emma lowered her head and thought for a moment, her voice very soft, "That's good. I don't want to cause trouble for godmother and the others."
The two chatted along the way and before they knew it, they arrived at The Nightingale Mansion.
Freya warmly welcomed them in. Seeing that Emma's complexion had improved, she showed a relieved smile.
Freya said warmly, "Emma, you look much better. Rest well during this time and don't think too much."
Emma smiled and nodded, "Thank you, godmother. I will."
Herschel greeted Maeve and Vivienne.
Freya pulled Emma over and introduced her to Maeve, "Mom, Vivienne, this is Emma, my adopted goddaughter."
Emma greeted them shyly and politely.
Maeve smiled, her face very kind, "Child, come sit next to me."
Emma sat down beside Maeve.
Maeve gently patted the back of Emma's hand, her eyes full of affection, "Good child, you saved Freya back then. Our whole family is grateful to you."
Emma smiled.
The atmosphere at The Nightingale Mansion was very pleasant.
"Does Herschel have a girlfriend?" Maeve asked with concern.
Herschel's parents had died early, and he was raised by Freya and Russell. Maeve genuinely cared about Herschel.
Freya smiled and shook her head, "Mom, don't even mention it. All he does is work, work, work. His love life has been going nowhere."
Maeve smiled, "Herschel, work is important, but you can't ignore your love life. You should find a good girl."
Emma said with a smile, "Herschel is so outstanding, he'll definitely find the right person."
She lowered her eyes to hide a flash of thought.
Freya agreed, "That's right, Emma's right. Herschel, don't be too picky. If there's someone suitable, spend more time with them."
Herschel didn't expect the topic to turn to him. He nodded helplessly, "Grandma, I know. I'm waiting for the right person."
After dinner, Freya had Herschel take Emma home.
Herschel and Emma got in the car and left the Nightingale family. The car was quiet.
Emma smiled and looked out the window, "I wonder what kind of girl Herschel likes?"
"What?" Herschel thought for a moment, "I don't know, haven't thought about it."
After Herschel and the others left, Maeve, being elderly, went back to her room to rest early.
Vivienne suddenly remembered the photo of great-grandmother Audrey that Maeve had mentioned. She asked Freya for the photo album, "You don't know, when we were at the mall, Mom saw a woman who looked a lot like great-grandmother. She suddenly chased after her and scared me."
Freya immediately became curious, "What? Mom put great-grandmother's photo in my album? Let me look for it."
Freya usually didn't look at the family photo albums.
Freya went to get the album and handed it to Vivienne, "Vivienne, here you go."
Vivienne took the album and smiled, "I'll show it to Mom tomorrow. I don't know which photo is of great-grandmother either."
Freya nodded.
The next morning.
After breakfast, Vivienne went upstairs to get the album to show Maeve.
"Mom, is this the album you mentioned yesterday? See if great-grandmother's photo is in there," Vivienne said.
Freya also sat down next to Maeve curiously, "Mom, why did you bring great-grandmother's photo to the Nightingale family?"
Maeve took the album and flipped through it page by page. She answered her daughter Freya's question, "I put photos of several generations of the Stewart family in there for you."
After a while.
"That's strange, I don't see the photo. Freya, did you put it somewhere else?"
Freya was puzzled, "You don't see the photo? Mom, are you sure you didn't remember wrong? Maybe the photo isn't here with me?"
"That's impossible. I put it in your album," Maeve frowned.
Vivienne glanced at the album and said, "Mom, why don't you look through it carefully again? Maybe it's in a different spot."
Maeve went through the album again from the beginning.
"How strange. Is the photo really not here with you?" Maeve said to herself, her brow slightly furrowed.
Russell had been listening to Maeve's conversation with them the whole time. He suddenly seemed to think of something, took out his phone, and quickly searched online for news about Elizabeth.
After finding a photo of Elizabeth, he brought his phone over to show Maeve.
"Mom, does she look like her?"
Maeve took the phone and looked carefully at the photo on the screen.
After looking at it, Maeve's expression became surprised. She nodded, "Yes, that's her! She really does look like your great-grandmother when she was young. That's the woman I ran into at the mall the other day."
Freya and Vivienne also leaned over to look.
Freya was immediately surprised, "Elizabeth? It's her? How can she look so much like great-grandmother? Mom, look carefully again."
