Chapter 215 Choosing a Kindergarten
Emma dared to bet her life that Freya would soften, and that was because Emma had once saved Freya's life.
After Freya and Russell left.
Emma turned to look at Herschel, her voice slightly hoarse as she said, "Herschel, could you please call and have the servants come take care of me?"
Herschel nodded. He wasn't good at comforting people, so he could only say, "It's good that you've come to terms with it. There's nothing you can't get through."
Although he still didn't know what had happened, since Emma and Freya didn't say anything, he wouldn't ask.
Herschel took out his phone and called the servants. He planned to wait until they arrived before leaving.
He pulled out a chair and sat down.
He wasn't much of a talker to begin with, and Emma was weak, so the hospital room was very quiet.
"I want some water," Emma said softly.
"Okay." Herschel got up to pour water, helped her sit up, and carefully fed it to her.
After drinking a few sips, Emma felt better and said softly, "Thank you, Herschel."
Just then, Herschel's phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and immediately answered.
The person on the other end said something, and Emma clearly noticed disappointment showing on Herschel's face.
Herschel said to the person on the phone, "Keep looking."
After he hung up, Emma casually asked, "Did something happen?"
Herschel sighed, his eyes showing a barely noticeable dimness. "Last time we had news about my cousin, but it turned out to be wrong again."
They'd been searching for over twenty years. Every time there was news, they went with hope and returned with disappointment.
Emma comforted him, "Herschel, your godmother and the others are such good people, they'll find her someday."
Herschel nodded.
He hoped so.
When the servant arrived at the hospital, Herschel explained Emma's situation to her and told her to take good care of Emma.
Before leaving, he reminded Emma again, "Rest well and get better. Contact me anytime if you need anything."
Emma showed a grateful smile. "I will, Herschel."
Seeing her obedient manner, Herschel turned and left the hospital room.
Emma waited a while, then asked the servant to go buy something for her, sending her away.
There was a phone on the bedside table. Emma picked up the receiver and dialed a number, waiting for the other end to answer.
She said coldly, "If you can't find someone who's thirty or forty percent similar, take her to get plastic surgery."
The person on the other end responded, "Understood, I'll handle it."
Emma hung up the phone, a cold smile appearing on her face.
As long as she could make that fake look even a little bit like Freya, she, Emma, would have a way to make the Nightingale family believe she was their long-lost daughter.
This way, she could not only divert the Nightingale family's attention but also use their love for their "missing daughter" to gain more support for herself.
Emma lay back on the hospital bed, secretly planning her next move.
And then there was Calista.
At noon.
Seraphina knew that Timothy and Elizabeth were taking her to choose a kindergarten.
When Seraphina saw that Timothy had picked out a cute dress for her, she shook her head disapprovingly. "Daddy, I want something cool, not cute."
Timothy fell silent.
He calmly put the dress back in the closet.
"Why don't you want cute?" he asked.
Seraphina looked soft and adorable in dresses. How nice.
"Jake said this way I won't get bullied so easily."
Timothy rubbed Seraphina's hair, which wasn't tied up yet, and said nothing.
He respected Seraphina's choice.
"Alright, Seraphina, let's pick something cool." Timothy smiled.
Since Seraphina wanted to wear something cool, there happened to be a little vest outfit with pants in the closet.
This vest outfit looked really cool.
Seraphina, dressed in her outfit, looked in the mirror, nodded her little head, and smiled brightly.
Timothy took two photos of Seraphina and shared them with Elizabeth.
"Tie up her hair, and we'll go pick up Seraphina first."
At this moment, in the Sherman Group chairman's office.
"Chairwoman Penrose, we've brought him." Robbie had the bodyguards push Brice in front of Elizabeth.
Although Brice's hands were tied, he acted fearless, his face wearing a cold smile.
In broad daylight, Elizabeth wouldn't dare do anything to him.
Brice said mockingly, "I was just kindly helping the Sherman Group entertain important guests."
Elizabeth looked at him coldly, not provoked by his attitude.
From the information Robbie had just given her, she already knew that Brice was just a pawn.
The real mastermind behind this was Herschel.
Herschel hadn't particularly tried to hide his involvement, clearly not afraid of her finding out.
This was obviously meant as a warning to her.
Elizabeth laughed softly. The Nightingale family really protected Emma.
Seeing Brice's disdainful look, Elizabeth smiled slightly. "Robbie, take this information and Brice to the Sherman Mansion for Calliope."
Robbie nodded and signaled the bodyguards to take Brice out first.
Elizabeth's lips curved up as she said calmly, "Robbie, have people keep a close eye on Herschel. If he goes on a business trip, arrange a few bold men for him."
Robbie thought Elizabeth had misspoken and asked uncertainly, "Arrange men?"
Elizabeth nodded. "Yes, that's right, men."
Robbie had already regained his composure. "Yes."
In the afternoon, Elizabeth and Timothy took Seraphina to choose a kindergarten.
They wanted to personally inspect three schools.
Actually, these three kindergartens had all been carefully selected, so naturally they were all good.
Although Seraphina was still young, Elizabeth still asked for Seraphina's opinion.
Elizabeth crouched down and asked, "Does Seraphina like this one? This is Little Starlight Nursery."
Just as Elizabeth asked Seraphina this question, a group of older kids finished class and were playing on the playground.
Jane tugged on her brother Tommy's hand and said excitedly, "Tommy, look over there, it's Daddy."
Tommy seriously corrected her, "Mom said last time we should call him Mr. Robinson."
Jane made a face and said defiantly, "But Grandpa said we can call him Daddy. I do have a daddy!"
She wasn't a child without a father!
Timothy saw Jane and Tommy. He frowned slightly but quickly regained his composure.
He crouched down and said to Elizabeth and Seraphina, "Let's go check out Cheerful Town Nursery."
Since Elizabeth had her back to Tommy and Jane, she didn't see them.
Since Timothy said so, Elizabeth nodded, thinking maybe there was something wrong with this place.
Timothy picked up Seraphina, and the family of three prepared to leave.
Just then.
Seeing Timothy about to leave, Jane ran toward him. "Daddy!"
Hearing the shout, Timothy's face turned cold, clearly displeased.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. She turned around to look and saw Jane, wearing the Little Starlight Nursery uniform, running over.
Timothy put one arm around Elizabeth's shoulder. "Let's go."
Elizabeth nodded.
They were adults with long strides and quickly walked away.
Halfway through her run, Jane suddenly fell.
She blinked, tears welling up in her eyes, and cried out, "It hurts, Daddy!"
Teacher Coralie had been shocked to hear Jane call today's school "VIP guest" daddy, but when she saw Jane fall while running and the family of three ahead not looking back, Coralie understood.
Coralie ran over and picked Jane up, comforting her. "Jane, don't cry. Let me see where you're hurt."
Tommy also ran over, looking at Jane nervously. "Jane, don't cry, don't cry."
"Tommy, why won't Daddy pay attention to me?" Jane cried heartbrokenly.
Tommy turned to look at the family of three's backs, staring at them intently.
His gaze met Seraphina's eyes.
Coralie checked Jane's knee and found only a minor scrape. She breathed a sigh of relief. "Jane, I'll take you to the infirmary. It'll stop hurting soon."
This probably involved some aristocratic secret. Although Coralie was curious, she didn't dare probe deeper.
Timothy and the others got in the car.
Elizabeth's feelings were complicated at this moment.
Timothy kept holding Elizabeth's hand with one of his. He asked softly, "Are you okay? They'll be going abroad in a month."
Elizabeth nodded. "I'm fine. Next, let's go see Cheerful Town Nursery."
The principal showed them around the campus, explaining in detail the kindergarten's facilities and teaching philosophy.
Seraphina was full of curiosity and love for this place, her smile never leaving her face.
After the tour, Elizabeth asked Seraphina again, "Seraphina, do you like it here?"
Seraphina nodded vigorously. "I like it! There are lots of kids here and lots of fun things."
Timothy and Elizabeth looked at each other, smiled, and reached an agreement. "Then we'll choose this one."
They both tactfully didn't mention Little Starlight Nursery again.
